1. Hi... In the manual pag 66 : "...Hull down means that only the turret or superstructure is visible to (and hittable by) the enemy..." For instance an Hertzer does not have turret nor superstructure, what happens in this case ? Thanks, João
 2. ...yes, I love this game... The halftrack was lucky... The Priest is open top... The Stug was a bit lucky... Once one of my german SPG 150mm, shot an allied APC at 30m, the blast takes them both out... cool Once one of my german APC was behinde of an house firing at an enemy TD at 200m, some how the "poor" German gunner hits the house right in front of him... yes, you guessed, no more German APC or "poor" gunner ... cool "cripes, just how much backblast does a 155mm howitzer have?" A lot... João
 3. Hi... Is because of things like this, that I like very much of CM.
 4. Deanco, "...And the Stug was unbuttoned." You still did not said to me if the targetes were clearly identified. When a Tank is buttoned the enemy infatry, without AT capability, will never target it. As your Stug was unbuttoned that infantry, even without AT capability, could kill the Stug commander. So as your Stug was low in HE ammo ( MG ammmo ? ) and probably, even if it fires, with a very low chance of doing some real demage in the infantry, the Stug decided to protect him self... This is just one possible explenation for the matter. The other explenation you gave is possible too... As some one said "The TacAi works in mysterious ways " Personaly I've a rule ... never contradict the TacAi... 85% of the time it is doing the right thing, the other 15% comes with the territory. If you contradict the TacAi, most of the time, you will only lose time... At the 1st opportunity , normaly in the beginning of the accion turn, the TacAi will overule your command and do what it wants... This doesn´t apply to the area target fire (not smoke) order... the TacAi can´t guess if the enemy is in the woods or in an house... 5. Hi... In SL or ASL an M1917 was an M1917 or was a piece of card ... HEHEHE... I will be flamed for this one
 6.
quote:
Originally posted by deanco: ... In between times he DID fire HE at another group of infantry far from the smoke target. Each time he switched his attention to the other area, he fired smoke. Can anyone else set me straight..."

Hi... Dont forget that YOU know that the game will end in turn "X" and that the enemy is beaten ( inside the map there is no more a strong enemy resistance )... The Tank crew don´t know these, what they do know is they don´t see any real immediate threat in the 1st group (soft target) and they are loo on HE ammo... So what they will do ( the same you will do if you were in the tank ) is conserve the HE ammo and protect them selfs. As far as the 2nd soft target, and the smoke, I need to know more... Were both targetes clearly identified ? Was your tank buttoned ? my English is not the best João [This message has been edited by Tanaka (edited 09-15-2000).]

You read what you want, nobody oblige you to read anything. For #$#&"& postes I think this forum has moderators, and they decide what is garbaje and what is not. I like this forum has it is... with many topics for me to chuse from... and a certain degree of freedom. Nice work BTS moderators... João
 8.
quote:
Originally posted by jshandorf: I think there is a problem with the QB battle set up. When you select Meeting engagement there is still a drop down box for picking who is the attacker, axis or allies. It HAS to have something to do with this selection.

On ME the computer ignores any information related with who is the attacker but you still have to imput Allies or Axis. So far to me in my 15 to 20 QB ME I have found no problems João
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Fox: ..did some experimenting...i choose meeting engagement 1500 pts, this time i pick Allied...i get 2400 pts and the axis continues to get 1500...

hmmm, very strange... I´ve done a lot of PBM meeting engagements and the pts are the same for both sides... Are you sure that you select ME ? Did you select any handicap ? (I think this is your problem ) Are you on vers 1.05 ? João
 10. hnmm... maybe your men hear them scream in pain ...or yet, heard the AT gun ammo explode... who knows !? João
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by Olle Petersson: When my tank is on top of a hill and looks down at an enemy it's far more common for the enemy to be hull down than it is for my tank! I think it should be easier for my tank to hide behind the curvature than for the enemy, upon whose roof I'm looking...

No... lets be correct at this... If you are on the top ,( realy on the top of the hill), your hull is exposed. If you are a little behind of the hill top you could be in hull down situation. João
 12. Hi... I´ve just seen a Humber SC give a full 360º turn arround my German infantry ( with panzerfaust )... the men turned, turned ... and turned, and finely the humber went way, at least they must be dizzy I´ve a suggestion to do... why not open a little bit the fire arc of the infantry, this way the simulation of 8 to 12 men wouldn´t be so like "one man". For instances if a target appeared inside a -25º/+25º fire arc they wouldn´t have to turn to fire, this way simulating a 8 to 12 men platoon ,who for sure weren´t looking all in same direction. Your thoughts... João PS I used 25º without giving it much thought [This message has been edited by Tanaka (edited 08-31-2000).]
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by Germanboy: I have a lot of challenges waiting already...

I can see why No problem. João
 14. "we can PBEM, all I ask is that you keep your tanks and men in the depressions on the map, and I get the ridges surrounding them." hmmm... Did you just snape your glove in my face, sir ? I´m ready for a "normal" PBeM and I will instruct you in battlefield tatics ! BTS what do you tink of variable endings ? thz, João
 15. by e-mail for example. Attach the pbm file (*.txt) to the mail you sent to him. João
 16. "Because war is all about controlling the high ground. If you look down upon your enemy he is at your mercy" hmmm... yes, and your hull at my mercy and mine probably in hull down situation for you up there. In other games that do not simulate the hull down situation you up there would heve an advantage of shoting on top armor (weaker armor) without the conterpoint of exposing your hull. "What would you think about an option(!) for game length variance of, say 10%? This would result in a game from 27-33 turns (if designed for 30 turns)." Yes, that should be great. João
 17. Hi... "Yes whenever i post the results on the CMHQ it tells me that 2 e-mails will be sent out which must then be answered - but i have never yet received one of these so called e-mails. Neither have my opponents" Yes, the above has hapen to me 2 times in the CMHQ ladder... João
 18. "...and tiles of a higher elevation had a correspondingly higher value..." I don´t understand, why higher elevation ? How about same degree of random where actually at what turn the game ends ? João
 19. Ok, maybe invisibility is not the solution... "There is nothing wrong with the flags. leave them alone." I think this isn´t the correct approach to the matter. There is a real limitation because of turn limit and control area ( Flag ). "the way the game handles them it is not a control over the flag, but a control over the vicinity in which the flag stands that is deciding for the game / winning" Yes, CM handles it well... but that doesn´t mean it can´t be improved. If for instance you got a "flag" defended by 200 points and at the last turn the enemy charges an infantry to the flag and some how 4 men make it to 40 m of the flag alive. At the end of the turn, the result is,the objective (Flag) belongs to no one.Yes sir, you just lose a big chunk of your final score... How about a reduction in the points at stake for the "flags" ? João [This message has been edited by Tanaka (edited 08-28-2000).] [This message has been edited by Tanaka (edited 08-28-2000).]
 20. Yes ... I like that idea... they (the flags)would be invisible , and we will only know they would be some where arround the center area. This acccompaned with a reduction of their points compared to the KIA... it could work, it could. João
 21. If you have a "fast" computer for runing CM then I definitely recomend that you go to http://combathq.thegamers.net/. The last question, I dont know... never played any mission... João
 22. Race and mad charge to the flags, yes I will lose 1/2 or more of my pre-last turn surviving troops just to get that flag ! Put here your best and worst toughts. What do you think of the score system ? Do you love the "flags" ? What do u think... João
 23. Oops... you are right... my foult I´ve never played with Vehicles with just MG's... João
 24. In the readme.txt (ver 1.05) is affirm that "Vehicles with rear-facing guns (not including mortars) may not 'hunt'" But in my current pbm White SC and Humber SC can´t "hunt"... any thoughts. João
 25. ... read manual page 104... or/and use search function withe the folowing keyword "Network" João
