I would say invest in a GForce 2 MX. Low Price long life. Also the second game will be based on the same engine but greatly expanded to incorporate the Russian Front. This is a great sim as well as a damn good game. It is the best supported game ever by it creators who frequent the board and who listen and actually make changes if fact backs up requests and time permits. Also in Mods alone I have 552 MB backed up on one of my hard drives. Every graphic in the game for the most part has been changed and upgraded (hi res). This difference alone is worth the money for a new card. (est. 120 american). As an added bonus a complete desert mod is happening that will be unoffical and not true sim because all the textures and calculations will be wrong 9will be pretty to look at) Buy the game and join the mass addiction! I have said it before and I will say it again. My girlfriend actually believes CM is a valid excuse for me being late or whatever. Here is what you do Gpig. Always nag her. When she wants to go out, go with her. She has a girls movie night, invite yourself. Show up at her work and constantly tell her that because you "nothing" else to do then you will just hang out with her. Then start suggesting things to do like watch the basketball game together or let you read this great article in a car magazine to her. She invaded your space now counter attack. Trust me in less than a week she will be giving you your disk and probably writing a batch file for it to boot at startup. Now I did not have to go to lengths like this with my girlfriend but I did state from date #1 that I am a video game freak. But you you rather I be a drunk, smoke, or on drugs? No go to it! Guys Fionn wins by using sound tactics and great organization. Honestly he would be just as deadly with a mix of PanzerIv's and Stugs than with Panthers and Stugs. He is a great calculator that makes few mistakes. I do not like his 76 rule but i also play with a group who actually is not attracted by King Tigers and Pershings so we do not need it nor does he only play by that rule. And before any of you ask yes I consider Fionn a friend and a very knowledgeable and upstanding, though somewhat outspoken, guy. Up to 484MB of Mods with no repeats. Yes I archived all the grasses (hires,lores, and gridded) and have the cow mod and the apple mod and the hamster mod and the...well all of them actually. The reason Well I see myself as a reserve. You see if all the servers that hold combat mission mods go down I have them archived. May even have to put them on the web at that point (said as Oddball from kellys Heroes the above statement was meant to be funny). Anyways off to find more. I agree the turreted tanks are a must for advances. SP Guns, Assault Guns and Tank Destroyers (with a few exceptions) I use as standoff weapons. Same goes for AT guns. A tank's main asset is it's mobility and ability to bring a majority of its fire to bear on any target in any direction. The M1A1 Abrams of today is deadly not because of it's accuracy but because it can bring that precision while moving 40-60 (depending on terrain and govenor settings) mph. That it can do this at an extended range is bonus. Oh and Cheng have you gotten Scipios Heavy Tank MG sounds? On one of the wavfiles you can actually here the casing hitting the tank. Thanks for the positive nod Cheng I rarely use rockets I prefer good old shells. But get Scipio's sound Mod and go to town. My friend fired 240mm at me the other day and I almost jumped out of my seat when I heard them coming in (I was in view 1 at the time). As far as tanks go I prefer the Tiger but have been using Panthers lately to get used to them. I do like to use one vet unit to "anchor" my AT line. As far as covering for advancing tanks (as always this is dependent on terrain) I like AT guns also. Hidden in a reverse slope they are deadly. Used en masse they can be deadly (on defense usually). The reverse slope is the key. I had a green crew hang on for 2 turns killing one Panther and Gun Damaging another (the crew was being fired on by 4 panthers and one platoon of pioneers). 5 shots hit the hill in front of the gun and countless others flew over. Eventually they ran but still which was my fault for not having them in CO range. Of couse 11 of his friends opened up the next turn and killed off 2 Panthers, 1 Panzer IV and a 250/8. I have not committed my armor or infantry yet but already have hurt the enemy badly. Again develop a style and cultivate it. That is what I have done. When i first started playing I sucked at armor (if you were in a tank you were dead) and artillery (if you were an FO you will hit nothing) but was great with infantry and infantry AT weapons. Well now I am still pretty decent with infantry and infantry AT weapons but have really grown into using armor and am known amongst the group I play with as Mr. Artillery. This took times so stick it out and develop it. It works. My friend uses light armor and infantry and can probably woop anyone. His favorite two tanks are the M5 and Lynx TO ATTACK WITH !!!! So it is all preference. I am ranting. There is no easy answer. It depends on style of play. I usually by a at least one anchor to my AT force like a veteran Panther or Tiger. If the woods in the area the battle is going is not maxed out then I usually go with some JagdpanzerIV or Hetzer to cover and overwatch. Now if I have a lot of points I will start to expand on my main mobile AT force by adding either more panthers or Tigers or even supporting PanzerIV tanks. Then if there is room I will get some quicker armor for the flanks like a Lynx or even a Hotchkiss. Then I spend some for HE support (mostly Stugs and Stuh's). Down below is a standard buy (very generic) and not really based on points but theory. Artillery Force 3-4 81mm mortars for suppression 1 105 or bigger for kills Recon Force 2 Lynx and some split squads from the Assault force AT Force 1 Tiger 2 Panthers 4 Hetzers Assault Force 1-3 Coy of Infantry 4 Stug III 1 Stuh 42 Reserve Platoon of Infantry 3 Trucks 1 Kubelwagen 2 Wespes or Marders (optional) All above again is in theory and what would be optimal and not based on points. I play mostly allies actually and my methods are about the same.
