  1. The figures from the original close combat manual are Bazooka 18lbs (8.1kg) -grenade 3.5lbs Schreck 20.5lbs (9.3kg) -grenade 3.2kg the schreck had a much heavier grenade, which is probably y it was the dogs. hope this helps. 2. the Walther P38 was the 9mm pistol but i am still looking for that ss symbol on one. hmm interesting ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. If you see no plane at all it's the Luftwaffe." -German soldier, Western Front, 1944
  3. is it going to be 1.03 or 1.04 by the way ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. If you see no plane at all it's the Luftwaffe." -German soldier, Western Front, 1944

  5. The motto of my home town is "IN VERITATE VICTORIA" which translates as "Victory Lies in the Truth". i have always liked that one ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. If you see no plane at all it's the Luftwaffe." -German soldier, Western Front, 1944
  6. in my CM experience the best way to use the archer is like the other allied tanks that cannot stand up to much punishment, move it fast from cover to cover without engaging. then when you want to engage with the archeryou reverse a short distance from cover with the target already designated, this way it does not have to reverse to far and will engage. it is a bit awkward tho and i agree that the hunt command should make it go gun first otherwise its just a useless plod command . hope that helps BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. If you see no plane at all it's the Luftwaffe." -German soldier, Western Front, 1944
  7. coe, do you mean the Narvdgfudfvnfdjgnhamsteropweomcvbdwaffejob by any chance. i agree tanks should provide cover in the game esp if the tank was abandoned. maybe with yours the brave TC popped a hatch and rolled a grenade down to your troops (or used a hamster to chase them) ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. 8. is this the same on a mac, as i do not know of bmp directories, do i just put in data folder BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. If you see no plane at all it's the Luftwaffe." -German soldier, Western Front, 1944
  9. hmmmm interesting, didn't even think of that. Babra can i email you my photey of the Marder aswell, i'd like people to have a look at it BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. 10. do a quick test scenario and watch a 14 inch naval shell land, (the blast wave is large and obvious with these rounds) you will see the blast waves are orangy yellow and very rapid, the dust cloud from the buildings is white and slow. ive never seen any damage done by the cloud myself but as you will see on the thread mentioned above the jury seems to be out on this. hope that helps BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. If you see no plane at all it's the Luftwaffe." -German soldier, Western Front, 1944
  11. I love the 'lowsky and tophat' thing, that is very cool. i have tried a similar thing by hunting from behind a building a few metres out to get a shot off then have him reverse before the end of the turn. lowsky is sort of a combination of this and the manuals suggestion for getting hull down, ie hunting from behind a rise with a target selected so your tank engages while mostly behind the rise. Another thing that has worked for me, it seems sensible but i'm not sure if it would count as gamey or whether people actually did it, is to use the Churchill VII and the Firefly together. The C VII engages first from the front and ties up the enemy, this pup can stand up to pretty much anything the germans can throw at him, then the Firefly with his 17 pounder can move up on the distracted enemy from anther position (or even from front on with his gun) and take out the bad guy thats my idea anyway, hope it helps, and dont use it against me in a pbem BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. 12. i'd like to see this aswell, i've tried putting vehicles on the map then making the area a burning tile so as soon as the battle started the vehicle would be abandoned on the map, but even jeeps reverse out and leg it BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. 13. i like bazookas, get a unit to pop up and let off a few rounds to distract them the pop up the zook and ping 'em
  14. hey andreas how about that pbem. "Rommels Infantry Tactics" was recommended to me when i first started posting, and it was well worth it BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. 15. I find i see foxholes giving away the enemy very early, usually if the unit is quite small tho such as snipers or AT teams. a ten man infantry team mostly appears at the same as the foxhole. i agree with optional foxholes tho as snipers and AT teams are usually the people you dont want seen for ambushes etc BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. If you see no plane at all it's the Luftwaffe." -German soldier, Western Front, 1944
  16. i have a picture i found in a book of what is labelled as a Marder II but it is on a 4 wheeled chassis instead of the usual PzKpfw II chassis. it also appears to have had all of the upper armour removed leaving just the tiny rotating turret. i would like to put it on here but don't know how to if it is just on my hard drive and not on a website. any ideas BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. If you see no plane at all it's the Luftwaffe." -German soldier, Western Front, 1944
  17. Tiger, check out your 38 (t) chassis's. both hetzer and Marder III have them, both have low rear wheel. having read Fionns post i think i have to agree, this is a 38 (t) but the road wheels are far too small making the rear wheel look much higher than it should be. definitely a cool photo BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. If you see no plane at all it's the Luftwaffe." -German soldier, Western Front, 1944
  18. hmmm interesting. my best guess is that this has been modified very late or post war, late war the germans developed alot of SPs on old chassis for the save on metal, i saw one at the imperial war museum the other day that i had never heard of before. offhand i can only think of a couple of 4 road wheel chassis's. the PzKpfw 38 (t) was a captured czech tank and the chassis was used for vehicles like the hetzer and marder III, but your photo is not this i am sure as the 38 (t) chassis had a very low rear wheel, almost level with the road wheels, i have also seen some photos of marder II's on a four wheeled chassis. the top half certainly looks like the 105mm gun of the wespe tho, much bigger than the 75mm marders and not the big hummel gun. so after all that i cant really help but like i say probablya a very late model or variant or possibly a mix and match of damaged vehicles BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. If you see no plane at all it's the Luftwaffe." -German soldier, Western Front, 1944
  19. the Churchill VII was a beast. there are two books i have called "Panzers at War", the older one has a story from a german tank crew who watched a C VII take 9 confirmed hits from Tiger tanks bfore it was abandoned after being immobilised, in CM i have watched 10 mins of combat with a Tiger + Hetzer against a C VII at around 300m with more ricochets than i have ever seen. unfortunately the C VII doesnt appear to have a good enuf gun to take out the things it can stand up to. the one thing that bothered me about the CM is that the ricochets off the front turret of the C VII go behind it at low level as if the armour is very sloped but in fact it is at 0 degrees. hmm. anyway i hope this is some enlightenment BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. If you see no plane at all it's the Luftwaffe." -German soldier, Western Front, 1944
  20. altho not with the lmg/hmg within a squad , you do see weapon variety in the graphics eg german grenadiers often have two men with mausers and on with mp40 BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. 21. no thats wrong , dont waste your time with the above post, i was thinking 82 turns not emails, i really need to listen to myself sometimes ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. 22. 3 simultaneous games reqiures sending 6 and recieving 6 emails for each turn. so if you send 6 emails a day the first round will take nearly 3 months.............is that right ...........yes it is. wow thats a long time, getting into the second round by christmas, hmmmm. so to get the 1st round done inside a month ( amore reasonable timescale) we're talking sending 18 emails a day ( and recieving that many aswell) and thats a hell of a lot and i am sure that some will not be able to do this, but those are the figures . iknew the a-level maths would be useful oneday. so what do you all think about that then, what do you reckon is the best trade-off between emails per day and time taken to finish. and.....GO ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. 23. i say you just send the files whenever you can. that way its done as quick as possible and you dont have to worry who is in what timezone + you know everyone is doing what they can to keep it moving BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. 24. i find abandonment very common here. probably cos if i was in a HT and i heard a 50cal i would fill my pants even if it didnt hit me BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. If you see no plane at all it's the Luftwaffe." -German soldier, Western Front, 1944
  25. the reason they seem pathetic i cos the 50cal was a nightmare. it can tear thru wooden building and 20mm of armour. a testament to their greatness is that they are still used today. ive watched a modern variant go thru a brick house wall in under a minute.....very cool jerry scouts are useful but not against this little pup BM ------------------ "If you see a white plane it's American, if you see a black plane it's the RAF. If you see no plane at all it's the Luftwaffe." -German soldier, Western Front, 1944
