1. Axis....I can understand the words of our Allied friends as they have their ranks decimated!!!! When I play the Allied side, the Axis troops all speak gibberish! Oh, I mean German.
 2. Ok, I couldn't find a good subject name for this question. This is especially for all the tankers in this forum. I can not effectivly use my second and third tanks as overwatch. Why? Because the first tank takes out a vehicle and the crew bails, then my great protectors will go after the crew with no regard to the needs of overwatch. Is this the way it should be? Maybe the second and third tank believe the crew to be a possible anti-tank threat? This is killing me in the villa-bocage(sp?) operation. Instead of being wary of armor my defensive tanks will turret traverse to nail a poor cowering crew from an burned out halftrack. In the mean time I have sherms and stuarts darting in and out of smoke before my protecting tanks can traverse for a shot. I can not tell you how many times I have watched the screen yelling at the top of my lungs(wife not too happy when it happens at 2 am) "fire, fire dang you!" Then the little red line goes away. And it is all because the crew of a burnt out halftrack. I did not see this covered earlier in the forum. If it was covered, please lead me to it. Thanks
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Private Pike: Avalon Hill's Air Force also used WeGo. But none of this detracts from CM being a ground breaking game. Haven't played East/West front or CCx since I D/L the demo.

Ok Ok Ok....Obviously I was talking about the WeeeeGo system which is sorta like five girls at the movies and one needs to us the latrine! You thought I was talking about the WeGo system which has obviously been used by many games prior to CM I stand...er' sit.....humbled by the well informed, played, and old gamers on this forum. It is good to learn!
 4. I know this is probably a dumb, over-asked question.....but how do you use the great ' mods'I see being posted? Do I just download and then drop them in the bit map directory or is there more to it?
 5. What if both era's had the same tech. In other words, do you think the fighting men of the 40's were made of better stuff then those of the 00's? I would say that US forces, marching soldiers are probably about the same caliber of fighting man as pre-WWII soldiers. As I recall, it took a few battles before the US soldier toughened up. There is a lot of dependence today on technology today making for a little softer soldier....in my opinion based on little. Anyway, what do you think?
 6. As I sit here typing I am on hold with HP. Why? To complain and try to return a pc that I bought new 30 days ago. Why? Because it is an Athlon 900 Mhz box that only has a 185w power supply. So? AMD only recommends a 250w power supply at a minimum and really likes the 300w power supplies for the exttra draw their 200 mhz bus and Athlon chips produce. The savings to HP for undercutting the power supply probably worked out to 10-15 cents a unit. I knew that Acer, Packerd Bells of the world were low rent but not dear ol' HP! Well I have been told that this is my problem by HP. I have a non-upgradeable computer. Lesson here, and reason for the post, is for all you guys to avoid the Pavillion line of PC's. I wondered why they didn't post their power supply specs on their web site....now I know.
 7. I knew it was a buggy game! I just had no idea how severe the lossssss of code there was!
 8. I know what you mean, possible ***spoiler*** here too so be carefull. I had to take two bridges and had a Sherm with flame. I grew very fond of this tank and its crew. I set an entire town on fire with that tank and the German inf ran in boiling fear. Ah, commanders can ill afford cockiness. I had a fairly open field to the next bridge and as I turned from the street to the field my beloved Sherm was taken out by an unidentified tank from across the water. Anger filled my soul and I fan several tanks in to take poor shots at this enemy that flamed by beloved Sherm. I lost 7 assorted armor in that foolish move...and the battle.
 9. I just ran a large battle in a fairly dense forest. Armor was useless and could only move on the outside. This was all in-close man-on-man stuff. When it was over I felt for the men I lost and the men I killed. Yes...they are only pixels and bits but it did bring a sense of reality to me. Only a few surrendered and by the time the Brits called an official surrender units on both sides lay dessimated (can't spell). Entire companies no longer exited. I watched as the tac AI HQs on both sides tried to muster attacks from their troops..only to be pinned and eventually wiped out. Troops would break...forced back into the fray once they recovered and break again. Reserves were piled in fighting were commrades had fallen before. HMG were next to useless with limited fields of fire. Flanking, counter-flanking, attack, counter-attack. I am here to thank God I never had to endure what so many did before me. In the end units lie dead. British, American and German soldiers intertwined in a mass of wasted expectation and potential. Then I brought them all back to life for another go! What a great game!
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Big Time Software: First things to check: 1) Install DirectX 7.0a. 2) (Re)install the latest drivers for your TNT2. Charles

Tried all that and no go. I do think I have the final answer. This is an HP Pavillion with an Athlon 900 Mhz and the chumps only put in a 185w powersupply. I am trying to get them to take the piece of junk back!
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by Ron Meier: Joe, I must take issue with your assumption that BTS came up with the WEGO system. I believe TacOps was using this system before CM. Just a being a little nick-picky.

Never played TacOps so you got me there. I must get out and game more!
 12. I do not think my problems are a CM problem I have a HP Pavillion 9780c with 128MB pc100 memory, TNT 2Pro, USB keyboard/mouse, 2 ethernet cards, dvd, cdrw, and a soundblaster live, Athlon 900. Anyway, I have lockups in CM that manifests themselves in these forms: total freeze at anypoint in game Total freeze at anypoint in game with green streak at screen top Stuttering sound and freeze and sometimes not. Anyway, Diablo 2 is also flaky as well as a 3d screen saver that comes with win98. I think this is most likely a motherboard/video problem. It is drivers, or conflicts, maybe hardware failure. I do not think it is a CM issue.
 13. Inovation deserves reward! There is so much slop out on the game shelves these days. I find I pay the same to them as I did to Battlefront. The more capital they achieve the more they can develop and the more developers will come on board. So what exactly has Battlefront added in the Inovation ranks: 1. Sales avoiding retail shelves and mall rats. 2. A game that plays well, and is fairly accurate in its modeling. 3. The wego system...long awaited and now here. 4. Entering a genre that is not seen as viable unless it is real-time (eck!:rolleyes or a Panzer General or Civilization clone. So congrats Big Time and Battlefront, may you earn many a ducket and may your ferrari pur!
