Timetravel and its ramifications ...
SirReal replied to Scheer's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
Interesting, can you point to any sources that verifies this? I was under the impression that 150mm+ arty could stop armor (knocking the tracks off it, I would guess). Of course, if one tried to do that against a modern army tank, some CB fire would be on it's way very quickly, so it might not be a viable option even if does work. -
And the correct reply to that wave file is... 00103502.wav

Make sure there's snow on the ground, then have them advance... -

If there is timetravel anywhen, then there is timetravel everywhen. I'd be on the lookout for those 89:th century commandos with neutronium exoskeleton armors and antimatter accelerators. /SirReal -
Peng low, sweet chariot.....comin' for to challenge you all.

I'd just like to point out that while I'm still technically alive, I'm in the process of relocating, buying a car, ending the fiscal year and planning a baby. So the amount of time I'm willing to devote to spanking a bunch of nose-picking, buttock-hair-twirling, kermit-lookalikes like you lot is somewhat limited. /SirReal -
The german 15cm infantry gun is operated by six men, and has 50 rounds of ammunition, AND CAN STILL MOVE. Übermench and all, I still think the average german artilleryman was unable to carry a quarter metric ton per person. /SirReal

Without having read all of the previous posts-- I find that in CM, CAS pilots suffer from lack of briefing. Realistically, CAS is allocated and not a random plane passing by. Thus, the pilot would know that the friendly ground forces are (for example) attacking the town. Therefore, look for troops and vehicles in and immediately around the town. This isn't modeled in any way. So when the CAS pilot sees tanks and infantry advancing towards the town, they're unable to reason like a human (gee whiz, those looks like troops attacking the town, which would mean they're OUR troops), and just strafe what they see, because they see it. /SirReal

Cat's generate love for themselves. It's an enormously effective way to compensate for the scratches and accidents in general. The loss of a cat is a tragedy. (Large image for cat lovers) /SirReal -

Oh goodie! Perhaps we'll get to watch the incarnations go at each other! My bet's on death! /SirReal -

So Darwinism has once more made sure that horny idiots will ever be the predominant archetype of our race. /SirReal -
I go on one little excercise, and the whole Thread not only reincarnates, it belches up a whopping five pages. Now, since I'm obviously not going to wade through five pages of tripe fishing for that nugget of wisdom that might, just might, have been in there somewhere, I'll just, er, won't do it. That's right. You're all a bunch of disgustingly deformed invertebraes dripping slimed cobwebs. If you had any decency, you'd all be sitting in some automobile workshop in a puddle of gasoline, smeared with oil and playing with the arcwelder. May your teeth fall out and form meaningless patterns on your flabby, hairy feet, and may you all mistake your ears for the toilet paper. Excepting the Ladies. Of course. /SirReal

Well, I got a reply, although not what I wanted... According to National Archives webpage, since I'm not a Canadian citizen, I don't have a snowballs chance in Berli's rear end of getting those documents. /SirReal

Slightly off-topic, but on the subject of hauling ammo, didn't anyone at BFC ever check the german 15cm infantry gun ammo load at any time? Those poor men are hauling 50 rounds for that gun. There are six of them. Now, assuming one person to haul around the gun (they're ubermensch, right), that STILL leaves 10 15cm rounds to carry for the rest. Um. Reality check, please. /SirReal

I've sent off a mail, we'll see what develops. I'll let you know whatever I find out. Gotta love that Errol Flynn pose! Konstantine: That'd be greatly appreciated! /SirReal [ November 29, 2003, 07:31 PM: Message edited by: SirReal ]

Is there more information available on Harold Marshall on the web? Some googling didn't turn up much. Specifically, I'd like to know when he was born, and when he joined the Highlanders. /SirReal

Grog Dorosh, canadiansoldiers.com isn't available, and I need info on that Errol Flynn lookalike sniper. Can you point me in the right direction, please? (Please excuse, this'll be crossposted somewhat). /SirReal
