2. Notice how BTS is totally ignoring this thread. Dora, is that another name for Big Bertha? Two railway tracks wide, 810mm or so if I recall, fired once every twenty minutes to half hour... One shell and you have a huge crater in the middle of your map. Three and you have a trench. Do it near a lake and you have a moat... this has possibilities folks.
3.
quote:
Originally posted by marcusm: Both the Churchill and Cromwell were a match for Tigers.

I played the British ONCE in ASL and that was enough for me, never again. Three 88LL AT/AA guns on top of a hill, vs. a group of British tanks = total disaster for the British. Many of their AFVs were so slow that riding a bicycle would have been faster. I don't really care which side I play though, there is always an interesting challenge to be had.
4. Nothing in Halifax today. Got two packages, I had my hopes up, but none of them were CM. Harlequins for my wife and another CD from Oracle. Canada Customs is letting SOME packages through at least. Hopefully tomorrow.
5. My vacation is over, I am at work now. I hope I will have a treat when I check the mailbox this afternoon! ... but I try to be realistic (I hate having to be realistic ), probably won't see anything today, tomorrow either. Maybe Wednesday? No, that's hope getting to me again, it probably won't be Wednesday either. If I had driven down to the BTS warehouse and picked it up myself, I would have it already!
6.
quote:
Originally posted by Geier: Still looking for a way to hear those bagpipes eh? Geier

ASL had a piper, in one of their magazines.
7. My wife just called, asked me if I spent most of my vacation day playing "that darned game." Woops -- that's it for me today! I and I was only playing the demo, imagine if I had received the game in the mail. I'd be in REAL trouble!
8. I wish there was a way for crews to go back into an abandoned tank, if it isn't a wreck. Maybe even a different crew, if the original one is too frightened. It probably takes too much nerve to do a thing like that: "Look, they scared the crew out of their wits less than five minutes ago, I wonder why WE shouldn't go in there? The tank's still working, why not?" "I'm all for it." "Sure, what the heck I won't live much longer anyway." "Maybe the crew bailed out FOR A GOOD REASON, you fools." (crew leader) "Hey, it's a fine line between being a fool and being a hero."
9. Nothing in Canada yet, and we don't have to fly across the Atlantic to get ours. Sorry to rain on your parade, you can post on the CM in Canada thread once you get yours, I'd be curious to see who gets it first.
10. I wonder if -- and this is a BIG if -- Canada Post would treat CM as a package, i.e. it might come in at any time of the day. If it's too big to stuff in a mail box then they would probably treat it as a package. So now I'm hoping the CM manual is a coffee table book!!!! Looks like I'm going to sand plaster today, that's a messy job. Even after I plugged all the holes yesterday and sealed the corridor with plastic sheeting and masking tape, plaster dust STILL escaped. Never put me in charge of a bio level 4 facility, folks! I'd be the first one to leak the ebola virus in the outside world.
11.
quote:
Originally posted by Big Time Software: Oh, I couldn't resist this one: My wife would say that this is because She (meaning God) [...] Steve

Same here, God is female apparently. The Bible was translated so many times this must have been lost in the translation by those celibate male priests. If God is female, I will return to God heh heh.
12. When I was a teenager and some friends of mine went to France, Italy and Ireland, they were warned: Put your Canadian flags on your backpacks because Americans are not popular. When I was in France, we couln't get any service from a clerk in a hotel until my little brother said out loud: "maman, j'ai faim. Est-ce qu'on va manger bientôt?" The clerk exclaimed: "Ah, mais vous parlez français?! Je croyais que vous étiez américains. Pardon madame." (translation: Ah, but you speak French?! I thought you were Americans. Sorry madam.") My mother then explained that we were Canadians, and the man was positively friendly then. Same thing in Normandy, when the attendants at a small (very small) gas station learned we were Canadian, they spend about twenty minutes explaining where we should go, what to see, what to avoid. They were great. My father mentioned that once they went on a two-week tour of Belgium, parts of Germany, and parts of the Nehterlands. (bus tours would not be my first choice, but hey.) One American was on the bus and he slept through the whole tour. When my father asked him why he wasn't interested, he just said: "I'm on vacation, I don't give a $@%^ about these countries, I'm here to sleep and to stuff myself and to drink their wine." My father was speechless so he didn't say anything, and from that moment on my parents avoided the guy like the plague.
13. Friday in Halifax, nothing. This is starting to get to me, this is my last day of vacation. Another reason to get depressed. Someone should invent teleportation RIGHT NOW so we could get our packages.
14. Hey! Panzershark is multi-talented, who would have guessed. Great job with the song, and you picked a good one to build upon. I have the blues too, still no CM. What are the odds of getting mail on Fridays? I would say about 30 percent... (sigh) My vacation is almost over, have to go back to work on Monday.
15. I can't get anything other than two ads at the combat HQ site. Is this because it is overloaded? I am connecting via DSL using Netscape 4.72.
16. This is funny, game players are setting deadlines for a software company.
17.
quote:
Originally posted by Bobbaro: Indeed! The only thing those who lack an appreciation for orignal spelling are missing, is a life. So, I encourage them to get a copy of CM and come up with one.

Easier said than done. I ordered mine quite a while ago, still not received.
18. Beware of the wolf in sheep's clothing, once you teach her how to play she just may beat you every time.
19. Yeah, it's "Vive le Québec libre." Not the brightest thing to say, and am French Canadian. I wouldn't want to be a politician, every little thing you blurt out can be a potential weapon for some other group. Better to just shut up I think. de Gaulle did say some foolish things, but in other ways he was OK my parents tell me (although I don't remember WHAT he did right, something about him predicting the next twenty years after the war or something to that effect). It doesn't matter now. I just want my copy of CM!! Do you think they held it at the border?
20. Nothing here in Canada, its Thursday, it will probably take a few more days for Europe. (sigh)
21. Well, I don't play CM because I don't have it, but I spend all my time playing the Gold Demo. heh heh
22. Thursday, nothing yet in Halifax. My wife got pantyhose through the mail, but no CM for me. Sheesh.
23. BTW it's "Vive le Canada", Canada is male (don't ask me why). France is female, and the U.S., well the U.S. is just the U.S. (plural, no gender). I don't know about the quality of their equipment, but it seems to me Canadians were used as cannon fodder when nobody else wanted to do something (e.g. Invasion of Normandy in 1942). I heard that they did gain a reputation for being hardy, though.
24. I am too busy looking at the smoke, I hadn't thought about that Seriously though, it's raining today and so the fire is in what the firefighters call "smouldering phase" (whatever that is, I don't know why they call it a phase, if it's sunny tomorrow or this afternoon it just might pick up again.) Thanks for your concern. No CM in the mail today, either.
