  1. I agree this is a great idea! Having a sorts of a of a mini-map in the upper corner of the screen while you give out orders would help. Especially in large battles, this would help go from point a to point b in one click. Would be nice to have in CMBB.
  2. So damn real I almost wanna pee on those trees! Release it!
  3. PL, Panzer Aces has to be one of my favorite if not the favorite WWII I've read so far. I am going to order Panzer Aces 2 soon. The Panzer Ace that struck me the most though was Ernst, he commanded a Hornissen, a pltoon of them and later a company. He fought in this open top, lighty armored tank hunter (Hornissen) in the battles for Vitebesk, winter 43-44. And he survived and became a tank ace. Simply amazing; I mean that mean he was so damn good he didn't even get hit once, cause if he did, it's all over in the Hornissen. Later Ernst recieved a Jagdpanther and he was shot in the head by a Soviet Officer when soviet troops were close assaulting his tank. He was shooting them with his luger from the hatch. The tank was imobile and the soviets were just climbing on top of it. He survived the gun shot wound to the head, had surgery in Germany and fought against the Americans in 45, with a platoon of JagdTigers. His careers sticks in my mind the most.
  4. I agree, altough not very important, it would be a nice feature to have. For example in Panzer Elite, I knocked a few t-34s and as I started moving off and started to get near them, some of them exploded from secondary explosions and turrets flew off some of the t-34s. Secondary explosions would be a nice feature, which would add to the atmosphere of CM, but no real gameplay value. Other than maybe if troops are nearby, they might get killed or wounded by the blast (if near enough).
  5. On the eastern front a single tank at times hedl up entire battalions and brigades. From the book Panzer Aces, there are menay accounts of a TC with his tank holding up an entire Russian battalion and wiping it out and/or routing it. Herman Bix for example in a lone Pz-III snuck into a town trough a ravine and proceded to wipe out an entire Russian motorized battalion in the town. He also came up against 2 KV-I tanks, he hit them numerous times in the side armor and rear armor at 30m but no penetration with his 50mm, so he told the gunner to aim for the KVs GUN. The gunner managed to hit the KVs gun and damage it and then he shot off the tracks, he proceded to the same to the seconds KV tank. Anyway, it is possible for 2 tanks to hold up an entire attack, if handled properly ofcourse. As others said, the AI is horrible at attacking, and also do try giving the AI +2 bonus, it helps a little.
  6. Actually could be anywhere in Europe. I came from the Czech Republic and I still remember a lot of building showing bullet wholes and such as in the above picture. Even in Austria when I was there, I saw buildings with bullet wholes and scars war scars like those. So it can be anywhere from Europe.
  7. I checked the site and it's awesome, thanx a bunch guys!!! I already read some of the articles and looked at some screenshots. I look forward to more as times goes on, nice looking website! Keep it up!
  8. book doesn't say specificly, but where ever the 4th Panzer division was around September 6th, there it took place, he gives names of the villages, but I think it is around Orel.
  9. I made a scenario which represent Hermann Bix's succes in 1941 on the eastern front. I made the map according to the way he describes it in the book (Panzer Aces). I need people to test it for me, so e-mail me if you want to test it and to tell me what you think. Thanx! Here is the briefing: Note: This scenario represent an action that took place on the eastern front in September 1941. It represent a Panzer Ace name Hermann Bix and one of his famous engagments. Sense there are no Russians in this game I choose the Brits as the Russians and their tanks as the Russian tanks. So bare with me, everything will be as if this was 1941. Title: Bix Type: German attack (semi-historical) Date: September 6th, 1941 Location: Baturin Weather: Overcast, Snow Lenght: 45 turns Best played as: Germans Also, stick the scenario default set up!!! It was raining on 6th September 1941 as the panzers grenadiers and tanks of the 4th Panzer Division assembled in Korop under the command of Oberst Eberbach. Battle Group Eberbach, consisting of elements of the 35th Panzer Regiment, the 34th Motorcycle Battalion and the elements of the 49th Antitanks Battalion and the 103rd Artillery Regiment, has been given the assigment of advancing through Korylskoje and Attjuscha and forcing a crossing of the Ssejm River near Baturin. To the left of the battle group, the 33rd Rifle Regiment was to advance through Altynovka and support the river crossing. The battle began with an artillery duel at a tange of 800 meters. The first enemy positions on the low, extended height near Korylskoye were taken by the motorcycle troops and the panzer grenadiers. First Battalion of the 35th Panzer Grenadier Regiment under Major von Lauchert pushed through this gap, advancing through Attjuscha toward Baturin. However, the motorcycle troops and panzer grenadiers were unable to follow the tanks because enemy resistence unexpectedly flared up again deep in the enemy positions. The tanks roared on alone. On the main road to Baturin they came upon a large enemy column consisting of wheeled and tracked vehicles. The battle began. "Be careful, Schwartz," warned Unteroffizier Bix as the driver raced the tank uphill, it's motor roaring, "the Russians might be in the village ahead of us." They reached the crest of the ridge at the same time as five other tanks. Before them lay the village. Suddenly there were flashes from the huts, hedges and behind fences. Armor-piercing shells howled toward the tanks. reference: Panzer Aces, bye Franz Kurowski (translated by David Johnston)
  10. Hi, Massing tanks and infantry is the correct way to use tanks. Why do you think the French were overrun so quickly, they dispersed their tanks all along the front. The advantage of massing tanks is the amount of firepower (guns and MGs) on one spot. SO when you have one AT gun facing 8 tanks, it might get off 2 shots, then be spotted and killed in 5 seconds by all the tanks. Even if you do manage to kill 1 or 2 tanks, he still has 6 more tanks. To counter this, you have to mass your AT guns, yes I know it's a guess where he'll attack. So dont buy AT guns, but buy tanks and armored vehicles yourself. Mass them togther, behind cover, wait for him to advance and you counter-attack his tanks. Just make sure you don't send out your tanks piece meal, one at a time. If you counter attack, you have to throw everything you got at his advance collumn. I too use this tactic and work great if executed right in the right spot. When I play as Germans, I usually buy PZ-IVJ and psw251/9, lots of them. I know PZ-IVJ are killed by even rocks, but they are fairly cheap, have turrets and are fairly fast. Plus together with 5 other psw251/9 there are a lot of targets. Or I might go with Pumas too, good gun on the puma, plus it's fast. So hope that helps a little.
