1. Holy water, of course. All squads have to be then equipped with water pistols of some kind, but they will be dead meat in winter scenarios, though. Schugger
 2. "Ow my Gawd, I've lost me leg!" "Ow my Gawd, so you have! Do you wish one of my sandwiches instead?" Sorry, I only saw the german version of the movie Schugger
 3. Is this the movie where Spencer tracy is the Judge? An very old black&white movie? IIRC the movie portrais only the part of the Nuremberg trials where the high ranking Nazi leaders were judged ( along the names you mentioned was also Albert von Speer, who was responsible for the war production in Germany). Many of those who were not sentenced to death adopted later important positions in germany for rebuilding the country. Ah yeah, and Maximillian Schell played the role of the advocat. This guy also acted as a high ranking german general in " A bridge to far" and Hauptmann Stransky in " the "Iron Cross". Schugger
 4. What a cool story! I'm really convinced that this guy was in fact an US Artillery Spotter, disguised as a german straggler.
 5. A system that works: PIII500, 128MB Ram, Riva TnT2 Model 64 with Detonator Drivers, Sounblaster Audio PCI 64 V, DirektX 7.a and logitech PS2 mouse. on Windows 98 i've forgot to add. My game is the 1.02 version anmd I have installed the MadDogPacks ( both Graphic and Sound)and the winter camouflage addons. So far no problems at all, the game runs like a gem. 6. IntelWeeny My guess is that spotters who are direkting in artillery fire have a somewhat higher profile for spotting purposes than if they are simply hiding, but they should normaly not been spotted at an distance like this in build up or covered terrain. I never had those experiances like you and I always play with full FOW, but IIRC there was a thread some days ago where two PBEM players had the odd occurence that the program seemed to "switch" the FOW status for their game. ( One of them posted a screenshot which displays an enemy unit along with ammo and morale status). Well, I did not follow this thread to it's conclusion and so I may miss the point here completly. However, if the problem persists in your games you may wish to carry it to the tech forum to get more skillful advice. Schugger
 7. Hello GaryC Are you sure you're playing with the full Fog of War option enabled? When you launch a game and were promted to the screen where you choose your side you can set some game options ( i.e. Fog of War; Computer player setup and Play Balance). Simply click the Fog of War button and switch it to "full" and I'm sure your units will not be spotted so easily. BTW, welcome to the board Schugger
 8. Someone mentioned CM on the Panzer Elite board when I told him, that I was looking for the Sudden Strike Demo. He advised me to take a look at battlefront.com instead. Thanks Bertram! Schugger

Lutz

"Vorsprung durch Technik", the marvels of german arms-technology. I was somewhat more lucky then you, as I wanted desperatly to become a Kradschütze and... ended up as sniper. You can easily imagine how happy I was, even more when I recieved my G3 with scope which was manufactured in 1956 (!). I was in PzGrenadier Bat 84 from 90 to 91 and I don't miss anything! ( exept my sense of hearing on my left ear). If you have more luck in finding the CD with our favourite song, please drop me a note. cu Schugger

 12. Sorry Lutz, I had no luck to find any CD or something on the Bundeswehr webpage. All I can come up with is, that the "song" is included in the " Liederbuch der Bundeswehr". ( Super Denglish, toll nicht?). So you had the dubious fortune to be a Grenni too. Imagine that, this was our platoon song until we chanted it on our vow of allegiance celebration in Lüneburg. I believe our CO was somewhat pissed over this incident as we were not allowed to sing it anymore.
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by Mostro: In a recent PBEM game I lost my 75mm pillbox by the 3rd shell of the 105 barrage, at the 1st second of the artillery attack. So, there is a chance to destroy pillboxes by artillery attacks.

Mostro, I had the same experiance in my PBEM games ( Gold Demo, Valley of Trouble). I think pillboxes and bunkers are more resistant to artillery fire with patches 1.01 and Gold Demo 1.02.
 14. I have a new E-Mail adress ( Schuggerbaby@t-online.de), so please send your turns, challenges, threats and other goodies to this adress. Muzzlehead IIRC, you're down to two Shermans and some shattered infantry remnants located at the "Church of the Holy Rubble" in CE. The rest of your force has wet pants, you have problems with your E-mail ( hope you can fix it sometimes) and even your "Kampfhunde" will not prevent your downfall. Weasel Things look even more worse for you, as your whole tank force is gone ( was it five Shermans in just two turns?) and your shattered infantry is going to follow them soon. Any further resistance is futile and surrender is a valid option for you. We have some nice prison camps for your boys where you can play Diablo2 around the clock. Crocky I still can't believe that you only manage to fight me to a draw result in VoT. My MG pillbox is still giving you some nightmares, i guess as well as my Panther with it's damaged gun. I wonder how you will perform in a double blind game once the copy is in my hands and if you still have the guts to take up my challenge. Freyland Well, whatta can me say? Heya, grayt chap and close friend who issa gonna get da Silver Star for using da big Boomboom-artillery on de Krauts in VoT to mucho effect. Next time it issa you an' your boyz who crappa da pantsa an' wavva da white flag, cappice? cu Schugger
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Lutz: While watching my Infantry I sometimes find myself humming "Die Krone" (Does anybody here know of a CD which contains this song ?). Lutz

Is this the song which starts like: " Gäb es nur eine Krone Wohlan ich schenkte sie Der Tapferkeit zum Lohne..." Well, I'm looking for this song for about ten years or so. I stumbled over it at the "Bundeswehr Liederfibel" by accident some years ago but I unfortunatly don't know if there is a CD or something like that which includes the song. Best bet is maybe to visit some Bundewehr webpages and do some digging. I'll drop you a note if I find it. cu Schugger ------------------ Es gibt Tage da verliert man und Tage da gewinnen die anderen.
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by muzzlehead: I usually send my turn like this: turn 1 scared Kiwi turn 2 running Kiwi turn 3 dead Kiwi turn 4 victorious Muzzlehead I've never seen a game go beyond 4 turns with Kiwi

To cool Scott! You know how I keep record of our turns; each turn equals one KOed Sherman. Schugger ------------------ Es gibt Tage da verliert man und Tage da gewinnen die anderen.
 17. Lanzfeld Move you POWs off map if at all possible. This ensures you get the additional victory points ( POWs are more worth than Wounded or KIA in terms of victory point calculation) and you don't need some troops to guard them for the duration of the game.
 18. No problem pitz OK, you can target with your FOs any map area, it doesen't matter if the area is in LOS of your FO or not. However, targeting an area out of LOS from your FO results usually in a very unprecise barrage. The biggest part in the article is reffering to indirekt "onboard" artillery which is, in the Gold Demo, mortars and their teams represented on the map. OK? Schugger
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by Stoffel: sorry for my ignorance but what is the difference between the original golddemo and the 1,02 version?

Hi Stoffel I think the new GD version includes much of the coding which is in the final version. And it includes the new explosion graphics which are rather tempting. Schugger
 20. Yup. I had the same experiance in a CE PBEM. Both of us were playing on a PC, though. I think all of his Shermans were moving and none of my troops had a LOS to the other side of the ridge. At one time I had even a tank sound contact located at the victory flag in the woods on the german right flank. Looked very strange but funny. Schugger
 21. pitz After several unsuccessful attempts to post an valid URL, use Germanboy's URL than click on the annex section and finally the GoldenBB section. There is an article which should answer your questions regarding indirekt onboard artillery. [This message has been edited by Schugger (edited 07-02-2000).]
 22. Ok, thanks to all of you for your advices. I tried to find out what would be the most effective way and set up a Hotseat game with myself ( very thrilling... ). I experianced that the attacking squads usually do not open fire until they end their plotted movement path. This resulted in heavy losses, as my troops continued their advance when they entered the LOS zone of the enemy. Losses were even more higher when they advance under slow movement orders like "Crawl" or "Sneak". This happens in the first GD version and I don't know if the Tac AI handles the problem in a different way in the final version, like " Stop on Contact". The best solution I was able to come up with requires a bit of micromanagement. I sneaked up the attacking squats to a postion from where they have an LOS to the area in question- and not further - and coordinated their move with Pause orders so that all attackers " popped up" at the same time. More often than not some of the attackers were able to squeeze off the first shots, which prooved to be very effective at ranges of 20 meters or less. Thanks again Schugger
 23. If FOW is going to be patched, i would also like to see the feature where you don't know how long the battle will exactly last. Something like an increasing chance that a scenario will end from, say, turn 25 onwards. [This message has been edited by Schugger (edited 07-01-2000).]
