  1. Sixkiller probably should temporarily change his nick to Catbert or somefink like that. He is enjoying toying with us far too much. I know, I should be working on the report, but isn't lack of self-control a common trait of those posting here?
  2. I think I'll go work on a report rather than continually refreshing. At least that way I'm doing something useful and have more time to play later. Chris P.S. Leaving the thread should guarantee the demo is released based on my skill at choosing the correct highway lane or cashier line.
  3. Congrats to Battlefront for reaching this important milestone. Thank you Steve and the rest of the Battlefront crew for staying online all these years and putting up with us; I'm sure it has contributed to the loyalty of your customer base. I look forward to spending many hours enjoying this game as I have your other offerings. Chris
  4. Page 191 graphic for sIG 33 gun lists ammo as 75 mm while graphics on page 192 for 5 cm Pak 38 shows it as 150 mm and 7.5 cm Pak 40 lists HEAT as 150 mm Chris
  5. Across the Rhine was a game I was going to get but the reviews were not very favourable. Not an land based warfare simulation, but another old Microprose game I thoroughly enjoyed, having read the novel, was Red Storm Rising. First game I remember that had a dynamic campaign. Chris
  6. Let me begin by saying that hand crafted maps will almost always be better than the auto-generated ones. I see from the 2nd video AAR, that the quick battle maps are divided into the type of map with regards to terrain and size. As a future patch, and possible compromise, would it be possible to have a pseudo random map? What I mean by this is that the user selects map size, terrain etc from an interface and then the computer will randomly select from the pre-created maps one that meets those criteria. This might be a possible solution to those folks like dkchapuis who desire random maps. Chris
  7. Speaking of Operational games, how many people played Atomic Games' "V for Victory" series?
  8. When I heard about Space Lobsters, I imagined the spiritual successor to the tactical side of X-Com.
  9. Arrogant Worms: I remember the first time I heard them on the radio. It was "Carrot Juice Is Murder" and "Last Saskatchewan Pirate". Definitely a fun group. Chris
  10. Well Sixxkiller, easy for you to say as one of those lucky (but hardworking) few who have been able to play this game.
  11. Hi Steve & Moon, This is probably unreasonable but hope does spring eternal. In the spirit of this holiday weekend and reminiscent of the original Combat Mission Beyond Overlord, is there any chance of a late beta release with a couple of missions available to tide all of us rabid fans over until the full release within the next couple of weeks? Perhaps limit it to those who pre-ordered even. I'll understand if this is not possible, but this might even stop all of our incessant whining for at least a week ;-) Chris
  12. Very much enjoyed the videos! Thanks for your hard work it is much appreciated. Chris
  13. Fair enough Steve and thanks for quickly answering my question. I had the examples of the Son bridge and Arnhem rail bridge in mind, but as Michael points out they are probably more relevant to an operational game. Chris
  14. Hi Steve, Might it be possible in future revision of CMBN to include this as a scenario editor feature similar to a wire IED found in CMSF? Chris
  15. I too qualify as a lurker having joined the board back in the CMBO beta days. I've purchased every Combat Mission game and am eagerly awaiting CMBN which I have pre-ordered. Chris
  16. Was watching NOVA this week and they mentioned that the break walls all over the devastated areas were less effective because the coast subsided by 1 m during the quake. Chris
  17. Hi CanuckGamer, Shipping and handling to Canada is $14. However, the Canada Revenue Agency may take an additional cut depending on how the dice roll as the package crosses the border. Chris
  18. Use of machine guns in an indirect fire mode was pioneered by a Canadian major Raymond Brutinel and was used quite effectively during the battle of Vimy Ridge. http://www.canadiansoldiers.com/weapons/lightweapons/machineguns.htm Chris
  19. Ruthless, Thanks to you I was quickly able to restore my ability to play CMSF after a Zone Alarm update. Chris
  20. As a Canadian, I too am looking forward to the NATO module and am curious to see what mix of equipment will be represented in the game. I am keeping my fingers crossed for the Coyote and Leopard II. Chris
  21. Hi Steve, As a Quad Core owner, I look forward to any multi-core enhancements that you can offer in future patches. Given the performance stress that CMSF puts on the CPU and the fact that multiple cores on processors are the future, it would probably be wise to devote some resources there (Sorry Charles!). Establishing some multi-threaded code in the near future would help with the overall longevity of the CMX2 engine and would provide a nice performance boost to those of us with multiple core systems. Thank you as well Steve for still being accessable after all these years. I had a great deal of respect for you guys back when CMBO was released and I still do today. I do look forward to other fixes as well since CMSF came out of the oven just a bit too soon. Chris
  22. Taki, That is one of the very nice features that makes the Battlefront forums so good, some wonder if it really is the game? Chris
