Still no joy in Mississauga. Although I don't feel quite so bad since we all seem to be in the same boat. I wonder, could we be the victims of some of our american brethren pulling a Patton and interdicting our supply lines? Although with the update today saying the last orders have only gone out today, it may be a longer wait than we expected Chris

Robertpat, I wouldn't say it was necessarily that their weapons were bad. The sometimes poor showing of the Canadians can be traced more towards poor leadership. A fascinating read for any Canadian (and others too) is John English's "Failure in High Command:The Canadian Army and the Normandy Campaign" Chris

Hi folks, While those of us who reside in the Great White North await the arrival of CM, I was just curious about the number of missions that might feature our fine boys. Could any of you who have CM already, give us a quick recon report on the number of Canadian vs German missions? Thanks Chris

Hi guys, I've started a thread in the above newsgroup extolling the virtues of our beloved game. Although the wargames is a 'better' venue for its discussion, this newsgroup has much more traffic. If you do Usenet, go on over and add your 2 cents. Hopefully this will be another way to raise the profile of this truly wonderful game. Chris

Formerly Babra, You aren't the only Canadian who feels that way. I must say reading John English's "Failure in High Command" was an eye opening experience. He paints a very different performance picture than the Canadian Corps in the first world war. Michael Reynold's dedication in "Steel Inferno" sums it up well:To all who fought with honour in Normandy in 1944- many of them deserved better commanders. Slightly off topic but: Given the weaknesses outlined in English's book, how much worse off is the Canadian army today given the general level of professionalism in our officer corp. I believe we have more general officers today than during WW2 and few have any experience commanding large formations. On a tactical level though, I would say the Canadians acquited themselves quite well. I am expecting the arrival any day now of the official history of the Cdn army in WW2 which I have managed to purchase (unfortunately not cheaply) and plan on creating many a scenario. It is a real pity that this book has been out of print for 30 yrs. I will probably concentrate on The Scheldt initially. Chris (waiting with bated breath for CM's release)
