  1. Thanks, Steve, for all the updates. I guess our frustration just reflects how highly we think of the game. It would have been nice to have more shipping options, as suggested elsewhere, but that also would increase the hassles for you and your warehouse/disbursement folks. In any case, I'm being patient, although I finally broke down and called my credit card company to be certain I had been charged...yup, on the 15th. Hope the games shows up today. If not, well, there's always tomorrow (and the day after that, and the day after that, and...)
  2. I'm using a iMac DV SE with 192 megs RAM and the standard 16 meg ATI graphics card. The gold demo runs fine in 800 x 600 resolution. I think some of the larger scenarios/operations will tax it a bit, especially with all the graphics options turned on, although I can't say for sure as I haven't received the game yet (sniffle, sniffle). If I could, I'd up the VRAM.
  3. IIRC, mortars can fire indirectly at an area, but with a substantial penalty for accuracy. At least I know that's the case for offboard artillery.
  4. Hey, Freyland, no joy in Columbus either.... Sorry you were out of luck too.
  5. AAAAAARGH!!! He's in Lebanon, not a major city compared to Columbus, and he ordered in May, and I ordered much earlier, and he has the game, and I DON'T!!! Something's not right....
  6. I ordered the Mac version...but it's not here yet. Sniff, sniff, boo, hoo...
  7. I'm getting a very slow response from all the forums, especially the main one. Isn't a problem on other sites, and I have a cable modem. Wonder if the server is FUBAR (or maybe it's just all the posts made by those of us who STILL haven't gotten the game in the mail!).
  8. Just thought I'd commisserate with the rest of you. Nirvana has not arrived in Columbus either.
  9. Well, as long as somebody converts the Mods!!! I haven't gotten the game yet, and I'm already jealous of those who say they're installing the Mods. Aaargh!
  10. They worked fine for me. Now I'm even more jealous!!!! Thanks, Manta. At least it's a peek.
  11. No luck in Columbus, Ohio. Ah, well, at least I'll sleep tonight. Hope it shows up tomorrow. Congrats to all the lucky ones who got it today.
  12. Let's hope the mail gods smile on all of Ohio (I'm from Columbus). I won't find out until about 5:30 tonight, though.
  13. Hey MadMatt, I took a look at the scenario and Fionn's commentaries (spoils the scenario for me, but I was curious to see what they looked like). I think it's a great way to do things. After playing a scenario blind, it will be very helpful to have Fionn's comments, to see what we did wrong (or to pat ourselves on the back for doing it right). I don't know how he'll keep up with all the scenarios (and perhaps commentary will only be available for some), but it's a terrific idea. Thanks!
  14. I downloaded the sounds and tried them. Got the feedback too. Using a iMac DV SE with OS 9.0.4.
  15. Glad to see Mac folks converting the mods that CoolColJ and others (MadMatt and team) have worked so hard on. I don't have the skills to help, but can say how much I appreciate all the effort. Thanks!
  16. Doubt it's a bug. There are a lot of factors that go into the decisions about how targeting goes. Could be your squad was more worried about the infantry than the armor, or that they were green and therefore didn't think very clearly about where to target, or FOW could have confused them, or.... In other words, there's a tendency to think "bug" when your troops do something you think is stupid. But that's not usually the case.
  17. I suspect that "hitting dead center" is just how the graphics are modeled. The game models hits on the turret, upper hull, lower hull, and other sites. But it probably isn't easy or straightforward to code different locations for strikes graphically.
  18. Hey, Colin, welcome back! Gotta keep the Mac faith alive. I'm looking forward to seeing the Mods by MadMatt et al. posted at your site (if that's where they wind up).
  19. Hey, CoolColJ, we Mac users figure we'll let the PC users do all (or maybe most) of the hard work, and then we'll take advantage of it. Sort of what Microsoft did with the Mac OS, eh? (No, I don't want to start a PC vs. Mac flame war!) Seriously, it looks like we will be able to use what MadMatt, Kwazy, and the rest of their team has done. No sense in reinventing the wheel.
  20. Thanks for the feedback, folks. Berlichtengen, I did like your handiwork and appreciate your willingness to take this on again (maybe with some help this time?). And now I do remember downloading the mods on Colin's site. Look forward to hearing about more progress on the mods as you techie types figure out how to get it done.
  21. Well, some of us Mac users wised up a long time ago and bought programmable mice (mouses?) with lots of buttons (left, right, scroll). Sure do come in handy.
  22. I'm not a Mac programmer, so I can't answer your question. But I do want to say thanks. I'm glad someone is going to get the mods done. You mentioned that you were the one who translated CoolJ's mods for the beta demo (I know that's wrong, but can recall his exact name). Didn't you have a web site for that? If so, I liked your earlier versions.
  23. Alright!!! Way to go, Berlichtingen. I hope that Madmatt sees this, and follows through by working with you so that us Mac users also will be able to admire their MOD (and your) handiwork.
  24. Hey, Jdmorse, maybe you could ask Madmatt if he could provide a sample of the mods to try the utility with. Madmatt, are you listening? Unfortunately, I'm not convinced it will be so easy. I've used some converter utilities before, and they don't always work as advertised. It's not always just a matter of resource forks. But you can try it and see.
  25. Don't know if there will be "small" scenarios, but you have the option of designing your own battles, and I believe (based on descriptions of DYO in other threads) that you can scale them to your preferences. There are lots of ways to become more knowledgable about small arms combat and how to play CM better. The forum's one way. If you just ordered, and are in the US, then it's likely your order should be shipped sometime next week. They're still trying to get all the preorders out. Welcome to the club.
