  1. It will all be consumed by the latest Peng thread. Because Lord knows, a lot of what's on here needs to go there anyway.
  2. If you download the Sound Mod from the Mad Dog Mod Pack 1, it includes some hand-to-hand combat taken directly from the scene in SPR. It also includes the "surrender demand" from Cpl. Opum in German.
  3. No not really. I think the semi-official cut-off of Operation Barbarossa would be the Russian Counter-Offensive of Winter '41. Thus ending the initial German Offensive which gaveway to the changing of the guard, so to speak, from being an offensive campaign to a defensive. Because later, they had Operation Typhoon and several others. If you had Talonsoft's East Front II, they showed several of the East Front Campaigns. Whoops, there's that racist word again. But I always took it, once I learned of the other so-called campaigns, is that Barbarossa was the name for the initial invasion. Which if it would have been successful *would have been* the ONLY campaign necessary, of course. But since the Russians fought back and dragged out the campaign until "Berlin", the duration of Barbarossa, IMO ended in Winter '41/'42. Steve, sorry about that earlier post, it was one of those late night posts where I was also beeing hounded off to bed and wasn't able to review my post normally. Plus the fact of being the emotional reaction on such a silly topic.
  4. Let's just take a look at this screenshot. http://members.aol.com/tailwheler/humanwave.jpg Edited to remove the enlarged picture. [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 02-15-2001).]
  5. IMHO, a Voodoo 3-"anything" doesn't cover much anymore. Because you're looking at at most a 16MB card. That just ain't too good as of late. Also anything under a PII 400 needs upgrading. With the low prices of upgrades these days, you can get a 1 GHz processor and motherboard for $300 USD or less.
  6. Yep that would be the ticket. It's the new HBO series coming out this fall done by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. They are kinda following in the lines of SPR. Same sort of budget too from what I understand. I'm sure Cpt. Dale Dye is part of the series too in some sort of fashion.
  7. Well actually, "Barbarossa to Berlin" does fit pretty well if you wanna get away from the "Beyond" syndrome.
  8. I saw this mentioned on another thread about the Sd Kfz 7/2 being almost immune to tank fire. Well I can attest to it now, because I had several Shermans firing at a Sd Kfz 7/1 and there was HE going off all around the thing and it shrugged off those "blasts" as if they weren't even there. Now going by how easy it is to destroy a Truck, Jeep, Kubelwagen, etc. The Sd Kfz 7's should be just as easy to knock out as the above, don't you think?
  9. Yes, I believe that this has been discussed before and BTS said that they didn't have the resources (at the time) to pay for those on-line gaming services. As the Commissar has said, you have to pay fees to those services to get your game on them.
  10. Actually the only other term that *would* make sense would be the "Russian Front". But then again, that would be "racist" to anybody else that took part. Also as Terence said above, in that Russian history books/historians/etc. didn't realise that anything else was going on outside of their "Patriotic War" obviously is *as* racist as Bate's arguemnt that the term Eastern Front is. 11. No, I think it ranks right up there with the thread started by the kid that didn't like seeing "casualty markers" and seeing animated tracers and all, but yet was helping to develope a Civil War boardgame. Boy, M. Bates, you surely have taken a giant leap off the bridge with all those politically correct assholes. Ever watch "Politically IN-Correct with Bill Maher"? One of my favorite late-night shows, BTW. Steve is right on with this one. This is the silliest thread since my old "Fionn me, Fionn me, why don't they get a rope and hang me!" LOL! "Eastern Front" racist? Racist to whom? You gotta have a target people to be racist. Who's your huckleberry? M. Bates, I guess you never heard the term "Jap" before huh? Or "Russkies", or "Hun", or "Jerries", or "Tommies", or "Yanks". PLEASE drop your high-horse, because you don't even have a horse.
  12. My new icon isn't showing up in the "screenshot box".
  13. I don't know, but is the wheat field on a hill that where the distance would be a little closer than 76m on flat ground?
  14. Boy what an assinine statement. To demand BTS to finish the work is the most ridiculous statement I've heard on here in over a year since I've been on here. BTS has provided TOP-NOTCH customer support since the release with no less than 11 patches. 7 Official and 4 Beta patches. And each patch was a derivative from suggestions from us, the BBS members. What other game company has provided 11 patches in about a 6 month period after the release. Not to mention that these patches were mostly to enhance the gameplay and to fix a few minor bugs that would creep up from time to time. The game worked fine out of the box. Unlike many other games that come out these days where you need a patch just to get the damn thing to run. BTS has MORE THAN finished their work. BTW, how did you crack the code anyway? BTS wouldn't be too fond of 3rd party "mods" as such. Each unit is meticuously researched and for a 3rd party to make a new unit would not fly AT ALL. ------------------ "Upon my signal, unleash Hell."--General Maximus, Gladiator "Aim small, miss small."--Mel Gibson, The Patriot
  15. Well, I tend to think I'm pretty creative in coming up with nicknames and such. When I first signed up on this board back in January 2000, I was "Wehrmacht" for obvious reasons. Then the board crashed about 2 weeks later and I tried posting when it was down and lost my registration. Then I changed my name to "Ol' Blood & Guts" after the great General George S. Patton. I bet you can't guess what my password was then. The board crashed again in May, I lost it then again, hence my current registration date of May. Well, May was when the movie Gladiator came out and I thought the character's name, General Maximus. was pretty darn cool. So I decided that I was going to change my name to that, but the board hadn't crashed yet. Well whatdya know? It did a few days later and I got my wish. But if any of you who have downloaded any of my mods know my real name. As I am really part Italian, so that may be where some of my attitude and such comes from. BEWARE: I am NOT as Italian as Cpt. Benny Manieri (gay*lover, Keyshawn Campell) was. ------------------ "Upon my signal, unleash Hell."--General Maximus, Gladiator "Aim small, miss small."--Mel Gibson, The Patriot
  16. Michael is correct. You see by increasing the size of the bmp by 200%, it effectively creates a 4x4 pixel from each pixel in the original bmp. This allows the artist to paint in the details better. For a prime example of this, check out Marco Bergman's Shermans. BUT NOT JUST QUITE YET. Marco is in the process of releasing a TOTAL SHERMAN PACK that will give HI-RES treatment to every Sherman in the game including the British versions. These you will surely and truely want for the stock Sherman textures sucked pretty bad. I am a "beta tester" for these babies and Marco sends me an update everynow and then containing his latest modifications. Got one today matter of fact. You guys are gonna love this new pack, he's added several new little improvements over his older packs. One improvement has been the addition of rivet or bolt holes along the bottom edge of the hull side to where the tread "fender" should go. 17. Easy. Take your CD out of the drive. Prop it up somewhere. Take out your camera. Line up your shot and snap the shutter. Then finish up the roll and get it developed. Then look at your bright shiny photo of the game. You'll be the talk of the town. LOL! Now if you're talking about taking a "screenshot" in the game, oh well, then that's a different story! I don't know what Mace and Joe Shaw are talking about concerning using the ALT key. Just hitting Print Screen does the trick. That saves it to the Windows Clipboard. Now you must put it on screen so you can save it. Do this by opening any photo or paint program. Windows Paint will do, but I use PhotoImpact. Simply do a "Paste" or something to the effect of "Paste...as a new image". The crop it or whatever else effect you want to do and then save it, preferably as a .jpg. Smaller file size, etc. etc. [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 02-13-2001).]
  18. Ahh yes, the old "thread-killer" himself is back. Wondered what was happening around here lately. Quite honestly, I didn't even know you were gone. And guachi, totally forgot about you. Well to play a PBEM, you'd better download the new v1.12 patch. We've got full TCP/IP capability now, also.
  19. However, it was really the SDB Dauntleses that won the day during Coral Sea and Midway. Without those the Japs wouldn't have lost four carriers at Midway.
  20. And how is CM not an historical and educational document? Geez, this whole censorship thing is a bunch of **** anyway. I guess the BPS have never heard the phrase, "For those who forget the past, are doomed to repeat it." IMHO, I think today's German population SHOULD be aware of its history, go or bad, so as not to forget what its forefathers did or didn't. It's like banning anything done or made by US settlers when they drove off and killed American Indians. No we aren't proud of the fact, but it happened. Or the banning or destruction of our southern Antebellum Homes that contained slaves back in the 19th Century. It's part of our history, and it was bad, yet we do not "hide" it from our people. Censorship in ANY form ANYWHERE is wrong, no matter how you slice it! If I was a German citizen, I would be ashamed of myself for allowing this censorship to exist.
  21. Since when did "mounted" bicycle troops fire their weapons? As far as modeling them, I don't see why "Bicycle Squad" type be included, just as the motorized squad is now. What's the real difference anyway? Small arm load-out?
  22. Or one with the Jackson 5 and that moon-walking, albino brother of their's versus the Backstreet Boys or N'Sync.

  24. I'd tone down the M1's if I were you. A bit too orangish looking. Oh yeah, put dem der bass boats in som' water. [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 02-12-2001).]
  25. Damn, alright. I thought that might be the case of the toned-down hull rotation arguement. I'm not sure which feature I'd rather have. I kinda liked it when the tanks would "unlease hell" on the infantry without having to tell them to do so.
