Well you know something is wrong when you advertise a Message Board that is a Flaming Board in your signature. Anyway, EW, you see this board in particular is a very well educated and informed group of historian-type of people. Well with the exception of a few, which ironically, sound a lot like you. We tend to actually know what were are talking about. Just look at the number of posts on this board. We have just shy of 247,000 posts on this board. There are more posts in our Tech Forum than most boards have in their Main Discussion Forum.

My CM CD is pretty scratched up too, but it still reads fine. I even did a reinstall lately and it did hang once only because it had a big ol' finger print on it that the laser couldn't read through. It gave me a "Insert Disk 2" error. Huh, wha? I cleaned the smudge and tried again. Worked fine.

If you wanna be gamey, yet very effective at both. Buy some Fireflys and some Sherman 105s. Need I prove my claim? I mean you got that nasty 17 pdr gun with Tungsten and that 105 with its HE. I've never tried this combo, but after thinking about it lately, and after continuously getting smoked in Villers-Boccage by those damned Green and Conscript Fireflys, I would think that the above combo would be the most effective armor combo for the Allies. Yeah, blocks are a bit crazy. Can you go with some shared borders with link buttons in those borders.

I was playing Villers Boccage-Tiger, again. I destroyed a house with a Nahverteidigungswaffe also killing the Brit infantry inside.. I even have a screenshot of it inflight and at initial detonation. Anybody else have any Nahverteidigungswaffe equivalents?

So anything will pretty much be knocked out by a 'Faust. The main difference however between the 'Fausts and the 'Schreck/'Zooks is its accuracy. The 'Faust was a relativley low velocity weapon.

I use PhotoImpact 4.2. It's more of a photo editing program for stuff like scanning and digital cameras, but it is a pretty decent paint program as well. It has layers and all that, but I have yet to figure out how they work. However, it is actually better at touching up the bmps in the brightening area. For example, some of the mods out there are a bit too dark. (At least on my screen, CM does not appear to use the same gamma correction as to what the desktop is set to>) All I have to do is click up on the brightness or contrast control to adjust the overall look of the image. In fact, that's how I did the winter versions of Fernando's PSW mod. As such: I greyed out the areas and then did a precise selection using the mask tool and then did the brightness and contrast method to brighten up just the selection. I also created these British Desert uniforms the same way. I just manipulated the brightness and contrast on these areas. Didn't even have to do any repainting.

A couple US versions, a French version (which looks real nice, comparable to Marco's stuff). He's also got some Commonwealth versions which unfortunately didn't come out too well.

Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. I'm one up on ya Bob. Fernando sent me the mono-color mod this morning. It does look *extremely* good. Finally we will have a good hi-res PzIV mod to choose from. The detail on the hull top is astounding. The wheels look great, no pixelization whatsoever. Even the hull side above the tracks looks great. It displays the same detail as the stock texture did except clearer and sharper. If I understand correctly, Fernando will go ahead and release this mono-color version soon and then a camo version later. Oh I forgot, I have already whipped up a winter version for it. I have also altered it a little bit (Mainly just brightened it up ) for use with the DFDR stuff. [ 04-27-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]

Do you mean the transparent white "bubble" that appears as the tank fires or the little bit of fire itself that comes out of the barrel? For the white bubble, that is hard-coded. For the little fire, which is also the same for flamethrowing units is mod-able, however I can't recall which bmps are the fire files.

All good points fellas. The points on the Soviet tanks having wider tracks is an excellnt point as I saw something on the History Channel I believe, that spoke of this and how it affected the narrow tracked tanks of the Wehrmacht like the PzII/III/IVs. The Germans had a aweful time with their tanks bogging down in the snow and mud while the wide tracked T-34 series had no problems.

However, my latest crusade against Macs isn't entirely my fault. My assistant hates Macs more than I do and he feeds me info based on what he hears on Tech TV and his attitudes and beliefs funnel over to me and are reflected in my posts. As do alot of his other beliefs as well on other things, which is probably why I have become such a jerk as of late. You see, my assistant is an ex-hippie, former drug addict, hates sports and war (Vietnam era dude, so you can imagine what he thinks about my involvement with CM) So alot of my posts as of late reflect some of the frustrations I have between myself and my assistant. Fortunately my former assitant is moving back here from Dallas in about a month and hopefully I can ditch my new guy and hire back my old one. I know what you're thinking, what kind of assistant? A personal assistant. Due to my crippling accident a little over two and a half years ago, I can't fully take care of myself. So basically, I don't get along with my new assistant, mainly because there is quite a bit of generation gap there. He's almost twice my age, while my last one was only 12 years older. Let's just put it this way. He thinks that any music newer than the Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan is just noise. LOL! So I hope you understand the method of my madness as of late. I don't like it either. But I tend to vent my frustrations on this board when I shouldn't. But what is a man to do?
