Why ASL scenario's are better than CM
TankDawg replied to Cauldron's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Couple of things. Whittman: CM IS the PC Version of ASL. That is how it all started. Cauldron: Shouldn't the title of this thread been concerning CG's and NOT scenarios? If so I agree. However, have been playing ASL for 16 years. I head up the ASL group here in Seattle, and yet, have played ASL 3 times in last 13 months. Why? COMBAT MISSION. It is the best. Like ASL only more realistic, more challenging and more fun. -

Combined arms, overlapping fields of fire, this is the game I was always meant to play. Damn, Im just like patton, casualties for victories.

Did you already play the 10+ people who replied to your post about 2 weeks ago? You asked for opponents to 'whoop up on' and a dozen replied. How did those games go? did you win them all?

BTS: how about a neutral exit off the map?
TankDawg replied to Nabla's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Very good point. would like to see this as well. There are some units that I do wish could leave once ammo or usefulness is expended. BTS? -
Thanks to all of you that have posted! Really appreciate the assistance!!

Roger, Where have you been? tried to email you from both work and home with no luck.

Hi Guys, did a search - no luck. Was wondering if there is a spreadsheet or listing of unit prices? I usually go into editor, print screen, and on and on. Has to be an easier way to go over your purchase decisions. Any one now of a listing out there? Thanks!

Why is this not modeled in CM?
TankDawg replied to Shadow 1st Hussars's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Oh MY GOD!!!! I have tears in my eyes I am laughing so hard. This is the funniest thread I have EVER read on this board. My co-workers cant figure out why I am laughing so uncontrollably. I almost want to compile the posts in a Top Ten list. -
Hi Manx, Thanks so much for posting all the CMMOS stuff on your site!!! Request: Could you make it very clear what mods are CMMOS compatible? Maybe a seperate section on the right side of your home page? I am still trying to figure out if the "action packs" are compatible or not. Thanks!!

OT-Thoughts on Operation Flashpoint
TankDawg replied to MoatnGator's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
This post will get moved, but before it does.. I REALLY like OPF. I like the infantry missions the best. The graphics and sounds are stunning. It is REALLY fun. I play a mission or 2 between waiting for CM PBEM files. -
Hi Sir, just sent email to your home address.

Hi Maximus, Not sure, I guess. I always assumed the game was showing you what the unit could see - not necessarily that it was targeting a specific unit. However, now that you mention it, I think you are right. (never mind)

Hi All, Have not posted in a long, long time. But still playing almost daily. Anyway, I of course have the latest patch, but still see a common bug in every game I play. When my opponent's unit is firing 'area' or smoke, I can see where it is targeted. That is, if I click on his unit, its target line is shown with either "area target" or smoke a the end of it. Does not really effect play too much - but surprised it still exists. Not good at the posting pictures 'thing' but could send a screenshot to anyone interested. I guess my question is: Is BTS and everyone aware of this? Has it been fixed? Or, is it not that big of a deal? I of course always play with full fog of war on (if that matters). Thanks in advance for your help.

WW2 tank crew training - German and Russian
TankDawg replied to André's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Hi Heinz, I have a pretty good armor book library, and I only have one book on Soviet Tanks. Am forgetting the name, but it is the one by the Russian TC who commanded Shermans. It has a little on their training, but not much if I recall. Other than that, there just is not that much out there. Hopefully we will see more books some day. I just got an incredible book on Hungarian Armor in WW2. So now I have as many books on it as I do Soviet Armor. Sorry I could not help more. (BTW, I am out on business for 2 days and will then get your PBEM turn back to you) -

quote:
Originally posted by Tarkus: Ok guys, this time I'll make it short and sweet. Will there be any change regarding C&C as to whether platoon HQ will be given the capability to command non organic squads, given some restrictions, during operations?

That is a GREAT question that I have often thought about myself. -
