  1. Thanks CCJ, I didn't know it is based on the Voodoo II chipset I thought Banshee was different enough to escape those problems. Oh well, so far the effects I'm missing out on are not that big of a deal but if the fog and weather effects are affected by this then I will have to look into another card, something I really DO NOT want to do. Thanks again
  2. System specs: AMD K62 450 64meg ram Diamond Monster Fusion (16meg banshee) 17" monitor Win 95 I don't seem to be getting the trasparent buildings. They are either invisible(like in the beta demo) or solid and I can't see or get to my troops inside. My smoke options are none...compatible...or high quality High quality isn't the trasparent smoke I've seen in the screenshots, it's the solid black oily smoke.(btw still blows away the beta smoke) same with the white smoke. compatible is just the samke stuff only smaller. What am I doing wrong or is it just my video card? Settings? I have the latest diamond drivers and I tried the 3dfx drivers but nothing worked then. Any suggestions? I love the game but I'd like to play with all the goodies Thanks in advance!
  3. wow...I may be behind here but I just noticed that the armor in the snow has snow on the tracks? just my imagination?
  4. Thanks Matt! It's great to see folks support CM this way, it's alot of hard work on your part and all the others who help you and you keep giving us more!
  5. All great ideas! Just goes to show how great the editor will be because all these things and more will possible! I can't wait!
  6. The extra time in the oven has put CM well ahead of anything out there and probably ahead of anything that will come along in the next few years...except CMII! I keep noticing 'little' things in The GD that wouldn't sound like much at first but once you experience it...WOW it adds alot! for example...Some of the new sounds! Men yelling "Hit the dirt!" and "Incoming" during barrages. It feels like I have men giving me feedback when we try and sneak through the woods..."Quiet" and "Yes Sargeant" I found myself ducking down during incoming fire. The background or ambient sounds are wonderful. I especially like that they keep playing during the orders phase. There is so much to this game that I feel I'll be discovering new aspects of it for some time to come. There are really no words to express the feeling a well done, fun and exciting game can bring to a person. You at BTS have created something that draws your whole being into a differnt time and reality and you forget where you are while you play. That is the pinnacle of what games should stive to do. YOU have brought us that and I thank you for your time and your attitude towards your listeners and players. Your devotion shows in your product and if other game producers could take even a small portion of what BTS does for it's customers and learns from it the gaming world would be a much better, happier place. Thanks again [This message has been edited by Danno (edited 05-11-2000).]
  7. Same place I'm looking and nothing yet...I was hoping to start the download ALOT earlier...
  8. Here are a few examples of facial hair on SS men... http://www.ctv.es/USERS/apf/Gallery%202/Ullrich.JPG http://www.ctv.es/USERS/apf/Gallery%203/Dahlke.JPG http://www.ctv.es/USERS/apf/Gallery%20HJ/Hans_Waldmuller.jpg
  9. At this point I'm so impressed with all the new info and screens that it's hard to comment on all of them other than to say I'm looking at the screen and drooling on the keyboard. I was amazed at the level of detail on everything, then more amazed at the random faces and now we get old men in the Volkssturm! "OOOOOOO....AHHHHHH" this is like being very hungry and looking at a juicy cheeseburger you can't have yet
  10. I'm using Netscape 4.5 and it's just a black screen with the ad at the top. It looks fine in IE though.
  11. EZboard offers a good BBoard system with a lot of options and is easy to use. http://www.ezboard.com
  12. Found this site while surfing, alot of you may already know about this one. Seems to offer alot of stuff, the songs of the Waffen SS includes a version of 'Panzerlied' too...check it out. http://www.tomahawkfilms.com/ Danno [This message has been edited by Danno (edited 04-16-2000).]
  13. I was raised by my grandparents and so when I started building models of tanks in my teens, I got to hear some war stories from my grandfather. Having someone who was there able to tell you about his experience makes it much more fun and interesting to study and learn more about the whole subject. It also brings home the reality of it all because it wasn't something he would ever bring up himself, but I'm glad now that I asked and got to hear all the stories about France and how tanks sound 'bigger' when they are coming at you and how the Halftrack was not a cozy ride especially in the cold...so VERY cold I remember him telling about the bulge. Beyond the personal connection, I just like the looks of WWII armor, uniforms and weapons and so many of them.
  14. Most anything by Wagner works, especially if you are the Germans. Usually I like to just hear all the gunfire and orders being yelled.
  15. "cool new things we don't know about" ahhhhh, upon reading that line I was swept away to the future, yes that very day when upon my doorstep will be a shiny new copy of Combat Mission.....This is going to rate right up there with the Christmas I got the 'brand new' Coleco hand held football game... *feelin old* Danno
  16. MM, Did you happen to find any diecast retailers? I've been looking for some myself, with no luck. Cool site too!
  17. Based on my real name, everyone had to warp it to something, either that or I mentioned Hawaii five-O one too many times
  18. Sabot...I know that feeling, at least my wife plays Age of Kings though. That somehow makes me feel better...LOL I hate it when: I get enthusiastic over the way the new screenshots look but no one else in my house seems to care! How can that be? EVERYONE needs to be as excited as....oh sorry..
  19. A squad gets decimated by small arms fire because they decide it's better to stand outside the house they fought so hard to capture instead of inside, where they were just last turn... By the time my machinegunner reaches that choice cover the battle is over.
  20. Some good points here. After playing the demo scenarios so many times you know exactly where to lay the smoke and sometimes even 'when' to lay it so I agree when the actual game come out things will change in that respect. As for when I would use smoke ( and I'm no master of tactics here) If I had limited smoke and was attacking I would rather have that smoke available to cover a retreat if it came to that unless there was one or two areas that would really have good field of fire on my advance...but I'd save all I could for a possible withdraw.
  21. Pre-order: YES Copying: NO I hope none of my friends I've told about the game and 'pushed gently' to buy it wouldn't even ask me to do such a thing.
  22. *picking myself off the floor* Last visit to the doctor I was able to shrug off the question of my increased heart rate and bp....now I'm afraid I will have to just tell him the truth..."see doc, there is this amazing game, with amazing graphics, amazing map editor, amazing gameplay....well, you get the idea. Maybe he'll give me a Px for one copy of Combat Mission! I agree with Mattias, how much better can this get!?
  23. Campaign club? Is this the same as the 'metacampaign' I saw over at TGN? This aspect of CM is very interesting to me, maybe have different 'cyber units' or divisions etc..whatever you wanted to call them with their own webpages to battle each other, post battle stories and screens/movies and places to post all those newly designed scenarios! That would be like icing on the already rich and tasty cake of CM.
  24. *shiver* don't know if I could handle hearing all the awesome reports on this game and having the demo downloaded and not being able to paly...you must be in wargamers hell...
