  1. This may have been answered earlier in the thread, but exactly how much slower is the new code compared to the defective one as far as game play is concerned? Thanks in advance. ------------------ The counter-revolution, people smilling through their tears. Who can give them back their lives, and all those wasted years.
  2. Well, I dunno....... I have to agree with jarmo. I wouldn't mind dumping off a little ammo for the added speed. By the way Tiger, nice job on the Wirblewind.
  3. Tiger, I read all those threads and heated debates. What I'm saying here is there is a conflict between the ASL historical research and BTS historical reserach. Or maybe it would be just to much of a hassle for BTS to simulate it in CM. I bet there were plenty of machine gun teams who hauled major ass from building to building during WWII. Maybe they didn't do a 100 yard dash, but they put more effort into it than "move normal". So would it be wrong for machine gun teams to run and then get fatigued, say after 20 or 30 meters? Hell, I've ran with much heavier things than machine guns durng deployments to NTC and hohenfels.
  4. I didn't say they should be able to run and shoot. I'm saying they should be able to disassemble the weapon and run. Then be able to fire it, once stopped, as a light machine gun. Or assemble it and fire it with full affect. So what were saying here is ASL, over all those years, was misrepresenting the MG42. Right?
  5. If anyone played the board game ASL, you probably know that you could have your MG42 machine gun teams partialy disassemble the gun and increase their allocated movement points to run. The gun could then still be fired as a light machine gun. Is this misrepresenting the german MG42 team? Or should this be something to consider incorporating into CM? ------------------ The counter-revolution, people smilling through their tears. 6. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Formerly Babra: Olle, how does that look? Does that significantly improve execution? I have a P3/500 and the scenarios classed as "huge" are extremely jerky on my machine. I'm wondering if I should swap my terrain tiles for extreme lo-res when playing those. Any thoughts? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Babra; Your P500 should handle CM exceptionally well. I have a PII400 and all my huge scenarios run just fine, all in hi-res. Even with 5000 points on the board. Maybe you should look into more RAM or a better video card.
  7. Tris, I'd say thats pretty darn personall! I'm not sure about Matt, but Steve has always been very liberal in his moderation on this board. Much more so Than I would have if I were the moderator.
  8. Ooooooh, such a hot topic. JERRY! JERRY! JERRY! Late night talk shows rule!
  9. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by ScoutPL: When I conducted a leaders recon as a company commander I would cross into enemy territory a couple hours before the company was scheduled to move out. The XO would maneuver the company while I conducted my recon of the objective and we would link up prior to moving into the assault and support positions. Keep in mind that my recon was merely to confirm that the plan we had already discussed and rehearsed would work. Any last minute changes would be made and we would conduct the attack. This was very rare since we rarely had so much time to conduct a recon, usually we had to go with what the S2 gave us and make the best of it. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Well, coming to Pillars defense and, with due respect to soutPL, I find some serious problem with this statement regaurding US scouting doctrine. Leaders recons are in no way conducted to seek out hidden enemy ambushes or gather information about fire power capabilites of the enemy. This information is not collected at company level, it's collected at Battalion and Brigade level. The purpose for leaders recon is to view terrain, avenues of approach and possibly get eyes on the objectives to confirm orders and plans. Do not confuse it with other types of recons. Contact with the enemy is out of the question, unless you want all of your key leadres killed. Right? There is no such thing as leaders recons in CM, because we can view ALL avenues of approach, and ALL objectives on the map. so, whats the argument? Two types of scouting are conducted during game play, route recon (usually heavey) and information gathering recon (usually light). The only thing that can be gamey is information gathering recon with "junk forces". As for as which is the best scouting doctrine in the world, why argue about it. It's like argueing about what is the best way to scout in CM. The answer is, the one that works best for you. ------------------ The counter-revolution, people smilling through their tears. 10. My vote for Armor goes to the Hetzer Infantry Volksgrenadier SUB-machine gun platoon Vehicle SPW 251/9 support Bazooka ------------------ The counter-revolution, people smilling through their tears. Who can give them back their lives, and all those wasted years.
  11. Hey, where's my turn MR fire shooter! I got somethn' for that croc, bring it just a teeny bit closer.
  12. Hmmm... If he was in hide mode, it's still possible he never spotted the enemy tank, even after it fired twice at him. Add the focus to the ambush marker and his spotting ability becomes even less. ------------------ The counter-revolution, people smilling through their tears. 13. VS; Not a problem on the marathon. I'm a little rusty on my ICQ techniques but I'll get her fired up tonite. My mother-in-law is here for the weekend so I need something to help me ignore her and my wife for the evening. Semme the E-MAIL.
  14. Good show Vonshrad; Looking forward to the next one. Any non-advancers want to get a game started? I think there was a mistake in my total average. It should have been 14, not 13, so I shouldn't be taken lightly! Any takers up for the challenge gimme a buzz. ------------------ The counter-revolution, people smilling through their tears. 15. Sorry guy's, nobody beats the great CPT STRANSKY..................... -------------------------------------------- I read the ai is so amazing and rah rah in posts well i havent seen ****!!! Attacking the computer he can be amusing but generally he does the same tactics and is dull. All the attacks come via the same stupid areas.. whheres the ai outflank script.. does it even exist. Im not asking too much here.. the ai should be able to attack ok. I dont see why i should sit there playing 70 turn games to find the computer attacks in the last turn. And dont comment to me dont play it then!! Like some of u do.. i paid for this and i expect a basic attacking thing to be happenning. Bridges may be a big problem wiht this but in mnay games ive played its not always the case. Please fix!!! or do somefink.
  16. I never had any doubt there was gonna be another stellar performance by BTS. Usually by now, I'm starting to get board with games I've owned as long as CM. With CM, it seems like everyday I'm just getting started. ------------------ The counter-revolution, people smilling through their tears. 17. I only have this problem when plotting movements into buildings. Sometimes the mouse is hightly erratic. One way I have found to fix this is to lower your camera view to ground level when plotting lines start jumping around. ------------------ The counter-revolution, people smilling through their tears. 18. Lol... That's crazy, sounds like a bug to me. I had an M8 get knocked out on a bridge one time. I took an M36 and rammed it off the side to clear the bridge. The M8 landed right in the water and floated! Heehe.. to bad it was knocked out or that would have been one hell of an assault boat! I think this is a minor bug that BTS is aware of. ------------------ The counter-revolution, people smilling through their tears. Who can give them back their lives, and all those wasted years.
  19. Duke; Forget all this this meaningless stuff. Where the hell is the TURN! Depleted uranium getting to you again bro?
  20. And CPT Maneri? Will Fionn ever come back? What about Coolcolj? Gone forever?
  21. Hmmmm.. Good thing you didn't say you were sacraficing your life to join the military, or Meeks would be here trying to convert you to an objectivist. ------------------ The counter-revolution, people smilling through their tears. 22. Good post Schrullenhaft, just a couple of remarks on that one. The 9th ID is no longer at FT Lewis. The first unit to transform is 3rd Armor BDE, which falls under 2nd ID in Korea. The next unit to transform is 1st Infantry BDE (light), which falls under 25th ID (L) from Hawaii. Which is where I currently hang my hat. There is a critical factor not being mentioned in the discussion here. TIME LINES ARE NOT BEING MET. At the rate politics is disrupting things here, we might not see a total transformed Brigade for at least another 2 or 3 years. When the plan was initially conceived, 3rd BDE should be ready for deployment as a medium Brigade by OCT 2001. Not gonna happen. 1st BDE was supposed to start transforming in July of this year. Well guess what, we now have a training plan written up for the fiscal year 01, that does not include transformation. At this rate, the Army's goal of total tranformation by 2013 will be pushed back to 2020 at the earliest.
  23. I have to agree. All of my other Panther mods have been put in deep archive or deleted. These are by far superior to all of them. ------------------ The counter-revolution, people smilling through their tears. Who can give them back their lives, and all those wasted years.
