2. Permission granted, sailor! (watch yer step, deck's just been polished ) I promise you, you're gonna have a lot of fun! Oh, and prepare to get your butt kicked in your first few PBEM's. Some tough opposition out there.
 3. Never more than four. I like to remember what actually goes on in each of them. Wonder how Berli and Cyberfox keep their battles apart after a couple of turns, phew.
 4. Okay, I've just been contacted by Dave, the creator of this Operation, and he states the following concerning the skipping of battles in operations: Skipping battles was a big problem in the early versions but this should change a fair bit in 1.04. It comes down to the random factor of reinforcements but it was a bit to variable in version 1.01 resulting in missed battles(Very disappointing I know). If this is reinforcement related, I have not seen this happen in any other operation.
 5. Today I was playing an Operation I downloaded (Brandon: Rattenkrieg). So far I've noticed a couple of very odd things that are not at all okay. I wondered if they are connected to the actual .CMC file or the game itsself: #1 Casualties taken were listed wrong in the AAR (i.e. it listed more than I actually suffered). #2 After battle one the AAR stated that I already played three battles and dumped me right into battle four. #3 I then started the Op again from the start. I didn't do anything (move my troops or exchange fire) and just advanced the turns to see if the same thing (see #2) would happen again. This time the 'battle' ended at about turn 14. Problem is, each battle has 25 turns. Again the AAR stated I had played three battles slready! This leads me to a couple of questions: #1 Does the AI end a battle if no combat occurs within a specified time (a la CC)? #2 Is there maybe an incompatibility issue with scenarios/Ops that are created with a different game version? (stupid question maybe, since many canned scenarios could/must have been made with versions 0.9 or earlier, and they still work okay. If anyone has some insights, or experienced the same things, let me know, okay? BTW: I'm using V1.03 Thanks Juju [This message has been edited by Juju (edited 07-29-2000).]

MIA on the Eastern Front. Apart from being my grandfather, he was also on what is widely considered (also by me) to be the "wrong side." Just my $0.02

 8.
quote:
Originally posted by Mad_Merse: OK, Bottom Line Up Front: I think CM needs a Mod Manager like European Air War has Stab 2.2 or Skins N More to manage terrain and aircraft skins (textures).

Heya bob! I believe Madmatt is already working on that. Trust him to be on top of things before you even ask.
 9. Or, in this case, more appropriate: I'll be glad when yer dead, you rascal you (Mills Brothers, you'll love it)!
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Lorak: Juju.. that is information I didn't need to have. Now when I watch helplessly as my guys are being slaughterd, I'll have this picture in my mind of you sitting there all smug singing Bing Crosby. Lorak

HHmmm, Hum... Hum, HrrhhooOOOOOH ahm an ol' cow hand, from da Rio Grand, an ma laigs ain't bowed, an ma cheeks ain't tanned, Ahm a cowboy who never saw a cow, YIPPYAYO-AYAI, Ah never mind.
 11. Maybe a little odd, but How about: Fred Astaire; Mills Brothers; Bing Crosby and a very young Ella Fitzgerald. Hey, I like to sing when I go into combat, like them old Rohirrim. Might as well have fun.
 12. BTW, you should include the Panzersharksong (remember, Heino Bratwurst). It's grand and, well, it should be included.
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by M Hofbauer: 16. while speaking of the scenario editor, there is one thing that I am not quite sure of. (...) When saved the game during battle, I used the description of the operation for my save file, and saved to the default location. Now, it _seems_ to me, that CM uses the same file format for custom scenarios as well as save files, and unfortunately also the same default location, because it overwrote my custom scenario that I had so painstakingly created earlier. Or am I wrong?

Wow, that was a lot to take in in one go, so I'll do just this one bit, okay. When you save a scenario its file will be put in the Saved Games folder. In the in-game scenario list you'll also find that these 'saved games' files are always on the top of the list. After these all scenarios are listed in ascending alphabetical order. what you should always do, is rename a file when you're saving it when playtesting. you could also temporarily move the file to the Scenario folder, in which case it will take its alphabetical place in the list, and you will not 'overwrite' it. Erm..., In short,: yeah, you're right...
 14. Well, where to start... It's well... like... No, imagine a, a..., it's something not quite entirely unlike.... no, it's, it's something that can't be explained. Well, obviously not by me. If you've never PBEMmed, or played VS a human player before, prepare for some serious ass-whopping, hehe. I have yet to win a 'full game' PBEM. But, boy, am I good in losing them.
 15. Looks good. Very thorough introduction by John. A must-read!
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by mch: I'll bet 75$ that this thread is locked up when I get back from school today........

Oowee, great! You lost. Send me a cheque, okay? We'll go into the details later. Goody.
 17. NO NEED TA SHOUT! WE AIN'T DEAF, YA HEAR! Jeez...
 18. It's the first time ever that I thought this about other games on my wishlist: Hey, not finished? No publisher? Ah, no need to rush, take yer time.
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by TexasToast: my style of play seems to provide me with a large supply of vehicle crews without much to do.

LOL, charles. That was a good one. My style of play is somewhat like yours (that is, when I actually have vehicles). What I'm going to do from now on, is get them off the map ASAP (i.e. as soon as they've calmed down a bit) to prevent an unwelcome European- or US vacation. If pulled off correctly these are the very few guys listed as 'OK' in the AAR, too.
 20. Sure. Get yourself a program like Photoshop. Load any ol' BMP into it and then happily start editing or creating whatever you like. Well, something like that, at least. A good idea of what exactly you want to do is also handy, of course! Good luck.
 21. Ah, you'll get it right in no time, and when it's finished I'll just happily download it from any site you submit it to. good luck!
 22. Hehe. I know what it's like. The playing bit, that is. Not the wife bit.
 23. I'd be reeaaally happy if you'd send it to me right away. But that's probably pushing things, huh?
