  1. Hehe...I still have all three! Get this --- My friends bought copies too. We would take turns refereeing games between two others. You only saw what your units actually saw. It made you quite paranoid and was the closest thing to CM to simulate FOW. Yes, they were very cool games. I liked the fact that the caliber of the gun determined whether a kill was made after penetration. It was an advanced game for it's time.
  2. Thanks for the reply. The issue with the rev 1 Wallstreet is that you *can't* change the resolution. It's stuck at 1024x768. It's the only option in the control panel. When I run Starcraft, it just runs in a 640x480 portion of the screen. The rev 2 Wallstreet has the Rage Pro instead of the RageLt, and that does allow you to change the resolution. However, the rev 1 Wallstreet is fixed. I tried SwitchRes (a great piece of software BTW), and that gives me an option to fool the system and run 800x600, but the demo won't even load when I do that. I'll wait until the Gold demo comes out and get back to you. I have a B&W G3/350, and that runs the demo just dandy. I was just hoping to take CM on the road Cueball
  3. I've got a PowerBook G3/250 Rev 1 Wallstreet. The resolution is a fixed 1024x768 and the RageLt (not the pro) video chip has a hard time with the beta demo. In the finished code, can I step down the resolution, or does it automatically choose the screen resolution by default (like the beta)? Games that run 640x480 on the LCD just run in a smaller window. I hope to do the same with CM to get better frame rates. Thanks in advance, Cueball
  4. IIRC, Yes. Operations are really nothing more than a large map, of which you are playing on a shifting piece of. Since it's all one map, and there is no "reset", even craters created by HE fire will be remembered.
  5. Try issuing a "Sneak" command instead. It's possible the team only had a 15% chance of being spotted, but the computer rolled the dice and came up with "12". You don't necessary know it was an easy chance of being spotted.
  6. What's probably going to ruin the Hellcat's day is a simple German 234/1 AC with a 20mm. The 20mm has a high ROF, and should have enough punch to put many holes in the Hellcat's armor
  7. You're making an assumption that improving the graphics is the only thing holding up the game. My guess is that they're still making interface improvement, finalizing the manual, and adding textures to incomplete models. Someone is probably working on the interface, another on the manual, so someone decided to improve the graphics (smoke), while others were working on their end of the project. It's a team effort. Of that I'm sure.
  8. It looks something like the Stug III, but instead of being based on a PZIII chassis it uses a PZIV chassis. It is therefore longer with more road wheels. It's also lower to the ground, heavier front armor and mounts the same 75L70 gun as the Panther. It was a little nose heavy and unmaneuverable, but you'd have a devil of a time hitting it if it was hull down. Good for ambushes.
  9. I've been playing PBEM games for some time. Both me and my partner zip the PBEM files before sending. No problems in months.
  10. I have it on good word they've also modeled the Ostwind and Wirbelwind. I answered your question regarding the movies in another post
  11. In the "Battle of the Bulge", they used M-47's. In the movie "Patton", the German tanks were represented by M-48's and the Americans by M-41 "Walker Bulldogs"
  12. To my knowledge they can. I know for certain that vehicles get "hung up" on terrain features. I had a Stug moving through scattered trees in LD, and then it stopped. It wouldn't go forward or backward, only rotate. I kept giving it orders to reverse, and six turns later it freed itself. Pretty darn cool if you ask me.
  13. >> #8 - this doesn't seem to work well in CM - when you order a tank to move on fast I have yet to see a tank fire or return fire I've seen it happen occasionally. The one I remember most was a Stug on CE. I had him move fast from cover to cover, a Sherman moved in LOS directly in front of it, and it fired and destroyed it without even slowing down.
  14. If I remember correctly it had a higher muzzle velocity and armor penetration than the 75mm on the Sherman.
  15. Har har. Very funny. Not. Underscores? Junior Member and not a Moderator? Puhleaze!
  16. Thanks for the info. If I want to shell Allied positions, I guess I'll do it from afar with the Hummel Have any beta testers fired the quad 20 at ground targets? I imagine it would be terrifying to soft targets, or the occasional Hellcat.
  17. I was aware of that list, but much has changed since that list was created. I happen to be "partial" to both vehicles. The Wirbelwind is rather a rare one, though not much more than the Puma. The Brummbar did see a fair amount of action, and I'd be looking forward to using it's low velocity 150mm on targets
  18. ...That if Murphy's Law holds true, CM will arrive on my doorstep Feb 14th, Valentines day. [This message has been edited by Cueball (edited 01-03-2000).]
  19. Do they make a silly >SPROING< sound when they fire? Leave it to the Brits to come up with a semi-effective spring loaded weapon in WW2.
  20. I've been playing a PBEM game with a friend of mine, he on a PC, me on a Mac. Just take the "PBEM file" which is created in the CM directory and send it to your buddy. When you get his file, just start CM and load the file using the email option on the main menu.
  21. I suppose they could always stuff a couple of potatoes up the exhaust pipes and immobilize it
  22. It's my understanding that in most cases, one track just stops.
  23. I did a search on this, and didn't find an answer. If a vehicle receives a "Track Hit - Imobilized", shouldn't still be able to rotate?
