  1. IIRC, this will be fixed in CMBB with the extreme FOW.
  2. As rune pointed out earlier, photos are generally taken of unusual stuff, a picture of a knocked out tank would be more interesting than a pic of a knocked out truck. If one only used the frequency of certain equipment in a set of photos, one can easily come to the conclusion that the German army was almost entirely mechanized, especially in the 1939-40 campaigns. Furthermore, photos in wartime are often taken for propagandistic purposes which can lead to false conclusions when trying to use them as evidence. There is also the possibility, especially during wartime, that a censor has decided to only allow some of the photos to be published, thus creating a biased view of the subject.
  3. Go and check the SS-Weihnachtsgrenadiere out.
  4. Oh! An Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) mod! And you can see the stars at the same time! Nice!
  5. The briefing told me to bypass any resistance and exit my troops, my thought was that this would suffice, there would be no need for both VF(s) and Exit Zones. If I exited all troops, I would have nothing left to defend the VF with. Luckily, my opponent surrendered, so I did not have to face this terrible dilemma!!!
  6. How did the StG 45 enter this discussion? It is an entirely different weapon than the StG44/MP44. The StG44/MP44 have a gas operated action whereas the StG45 have a roller-locked action. The StG45 later evolved into the G3, the StG44/MP44 is the ancestor of the AK-47 and many other assault rifles.
  7. "..If I stay there'll be trouble..." If a scenario contains both Victory Flag(s) and an Exit Zone where I get points for exited troopas and vehicles, should I stay and defend the VF(s) or should I go over the edge and get exit points? The existence of both features seem a bit contrary to me.
  8. I had an idea on how to organise scenarios. http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=020657
  9. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Lt Bull: I would suggest another feature that I think would be really useful (probably been suggested before?): The ability to view the map from the scenario selection screen. I find that the map size/design is a big factor in whether I choose to play a scenario. It also lets you jog your memory as to what the scenario is about (the quality of the map judged from screenshots, along with the scenario descriptions, at sites like Manx's COMBAT MISSIONS and Der Kessel are big selling points with me) Lt Bull<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Do you mean a screenshot of the map (provided by the scenario designer) or access to the actual 3D-map without any units?
  10. It was pretty much standard tactics, at least in the later stages of the war when the allies was inside Germany. I don't know how common it was in France. If there were any resistance they (especially the US from what I've read) called in arty and shot the town up with their tanks. Set the outer buildings on fire yourself, that way he can't destroy them with direct fire.
  11. I think it could be a nice addition to have folders within the scenario folder. That way you could sort scenarios, for instance all Normandy (or Kursk) scenarios in one folder, sorted by nationality, year or whatever criteria you wish. Ideally the folders should be just like folders in the operating system, i.e. you should be able to add, delete or rename them. Perhaps all this (including moving/copying of files) should be made from the OS, eliminating the need to manipulate them from within CM. Another wish is that the "save as" dialog box (when saving games or naming PBEM files) should be replaced with the standard "Save As.." dialog box that the operating system use, just as it already is in the scenario editor.
  12. Nice vehicle, except for the fact that it only carries 12 rounds for the gun.
  13. A small question: Since tanks use fixed ammunition (shell and cartridge) as opposed to artillery, in which shell and powder charge is two separate units (and the charge can vary in size), the minimum range would be longer for a tank gun firing indirectly (since it always use "max" charge). I assume the minimum range listed for artillery is calculated on the basis that the smallest charge is used. Wouldn't minimum range using max charge be considerably longer than when using the smallest charge? If I'm wrong I'm sure the Arty Grogs will correct me.
  14. What has the 60° got to do with the Pz IV? The armour slope of the Pz IV is only 10° in the front. Could this be the reason why they are so "easily" killed (compared to the table), even by Shermans with 75 mm guns? It is possible that the US 75 mm gun needs to be within 100 m to penetrate an 80 mm armour plate angled at 60°, but the comparision with the Pz IV is not entirely relevant.
  15. Remember, time used to implement this is time not used to implement more important features.
  16. Check out this: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/013986.html it is not exactly what you're asking for but it has candy canes and Coca-Cola.
  17. The "eliminated" marker was added to game in a late stage of its development, there were no "eliminated" markers in the beta demo. If there had been no such markers in the final product nobody (well, maybe somebody) would have missed them but suddenly it seems like it is the single most important thing that should be in the game!?! And if there are moddable casualty marker there will be demands for different texture sets for different types of casualties. If I torch a squad with my Wasp I want a pile of charred, smoking (!) bodies, not a single soldier lying on his back with a chest wound (after having cried out: "Mein Bein! Mein Bein!")! I think there are better uses for the VRAM and Charles' time and talent.
  18. It was supposed to defeat magnetic mines by increasing the distance between the metal and the magnet, thus reducing the magnet´s adhesive effect. It also supposedly makes it more difficult to get Gammon boms to stick to the surface since the pattern made in the Zimmerit makes the available surface are smaller (it can only stick on the ridges of the Zimmerit).
  19. Perhaps they run faster because they have lighter weapons? SMGs instead of rifles? I think the German VG SMG squad are faster than the VG heavy SMG squad.
  20. But how is a tank supposed to know which units are no threat to its existence? A AT-team can be identified as "Infantry?" and most German squads carry Panzerfausts which makes them AT-teams. The Fog of War makes most enemies a potential threat.
  21. Bangalore Chicken? But surely you must mean Tandoori Chicken!?

  23. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Colonel_Deadmarsh: I first tried OneClick and it worked fine except that it couldn't handle zips (at least, not to my knowledge.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> OneClick zips and unzips files automagically, and you can set a limit on how small files should be zipped. It works great for me.
