  1. Mark , i can do several a day , i played one match where we were returning turns within an hour when we both were at our computes, we finished the forty turn game in about a week and a half. If you would like to try a game send me your set-up either secnario , i prefer the americans but will play those other guys.

Mark , it takes me up to 30-45 minutes to do a turn , but i like to watch the movies over the shoulder of any active squads. i also like to find the best defensive position when i move to a new location , not just move into the woods or whatever terrain. With the demos we are playing company sized battles , with the final game we will be able to play battlion sized battles which will be three times larger.
  3. username , i'll play you. i can return several turns a day , it can be almost like head to head. You pick the scenario , i prefer the americans , but will play either side. Consider yourself challanged!
  4. Okay folks , this is a very interesting thread. i was a combat tank gunner for the US during the 60s ,and taught tank gunnery to my cavalry squadron later. And nerves play a big part expesically in combat. There is one thing every tank gunner should know and put into pratice it is call 'burst on target' or BOT. After a first round miss where ever that round hit in your sights, you see a burst, taking that point on your sights and moving it to the target ,the second round should hit and usely does. And Steve and Charles the sounds are great in the new demo and i understand they are even better in the game , but for the americans you have a command yelled that is never heard on the battle field and that is 'forward march' in the beta demo 'go go go' was used which is more realistic combat order.

  6. There was one game after Computer Ambush , that was better. It was Under Fire by Avalon Hill and was ASL for the AppleII later written for the PC. Since then computer wargames have gone down hill until Combat Mission. Has anyone else played Under Fire ? It had look down grahics like East Front/WF.
  7. CDIC , also if you don't have a unit selected you will see a "hotkeys" button at the bottom of the page, with the hotkeys it is easy to control the game.
  8. i scored 95 - 5 , against a very experinced and respected member of this board. That was the second time we played CE , the first match he beat me 60 - 30 , which doesn't add up to 100%, has anyone else had a final score that didn't add up to 100% ?

  10. Is there any germans out there who think they are nearly unbeatable in CE ? If so i think my americans are , send me a set-up.
  11. Combat Mission is going to be a long lived classic , people will we buying CM for years. It seems like a lot of people are looking at this as just another release , i believe Steve and Charles have created a game that will be used (with improvments)for years to come.
  12. As a war veteran , i know war is man at his worst. And all sides of a war have men on them.
  13. Sarge i may be wrong , but from my knowage as an ex-tanker , the first american tank to have a gyro for the main gun was the M80 (know as the M1),my personal experince just goes back as far as the M48 , but i am fairly sure the models before (M4 to M47) didn't have gyros either.

Gentalmen, i'm a combat experinced machine gunner , having fired the M60 , M73 , and M2hb in combat , all three are air-cooled , like all air cooled MGs they have a safe burst limit (20 to 25 rounds for the M60 and M73, 5 to 10 rounds for the M2) as long as the gunner can control his burst within these limits , an air-cooled MG will fire all night without melting the barrel.

  16. Something i would like to see in CM2 or even better a patch for CM1. This was discussed in an earlier thread. In the earlier thread the reason for mortarmen and others not having hand held weapons was the TOE. But i know from expernince even if the TOE gave a frontline man a pistol he still had a hand held weapon to sleep with. Just today in CM i had two mortar crews with emeny inside their range , they had no defense , one bit of realism that could be added to this already great game is for each of these frontline men to have a carbines or something.
