Sgt.Morgue replied to Sgt.Morgue's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)

I did a search and found four post all on lock-ups with S540 . I'm thinking of ordering a new computer a PIII 850 128mb with a Diamond S540 32mb card. My question ,is this a good system , will the card work with CM ? Thanks for any help.

Ever see a reinforcement slaughter???
Sgt.Morgue replied to Maximus's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I had a PBEM opponent (in VOT) try the same thing , he set-up a platoon to wipe out my americans as they came in. Only problem my M4s came in behind him , i sufered 40% infantry casualties , he sufered 100% , and surrendered with 0% morale a turn later. Moves like this, is why once the game comes out i will only play double blind matches. -
Real World tactics valid in CM?
Sgt.Morgue replied to KingOPork's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
KoP , i believe in using real tactics in CM . As Tom_W pointed out , the game does have some unreal aspects. But it seems to me to simulate front line combat better than anything yet. just my 2 cents worth -
Great !!! site , Moon

The first thing i will do , is make a map with lots of elevation changes and cover terrain , probaby a river with a bridge for the main objective , then maybe build scenario with a long drive for allied armor as it trys to help the paratroops drop at the objective , kind of a bridge to far scenario. i enjoy building maps to play on.

I've had the same problem with mortars running out of HE then continuing the fire mission with smoke , messing up the LOS , this is a bug for sure , it would never be done in real life.

has anyone else had a 100% shot chance ?
Sgt.Morgue replied to Sgt.Morgue's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
It must be a fairly rare occurance. I'm glad to see someone else has experinced it. -
My armor seems to leave hard targets (tanks) and target soft ones , way to often in the gold demo. Has anyone else experinced this ?

has anyone else had a 100% shot chance ?
Sgt.Morgue replied to Sgt.Morgue's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Dar, You are correct it was 100% exposed , but i've not had it since , and have had lots of shots at troops in the open. -
It happen for me once , it was a long time ago in my second beta demo scenario. I knew a 100% would be rare , in all the games since i haven't had it happen. My american infranty squad was shooting at a german squad , that was down hill in the open and about 30 meters away. Needless to say the germans took casualies and hit the ground.

In honor to all vets on Memorial Day
Sgt.Morgue replied to TeAcH's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
As a US combat veteran from Viet Nam , i would like to say Thank You to all of the "Dick Feaglers" out there , its feelings like the ones stated here , that help 30 years of doubt in our counties people go away. Thanks. Teach and Foobar -
i've never lost to the AI many games, but i'm playing CE right now with the AI germans at 150% , and it looks like i'm going to run out of ammo and there is still going to be too many germans left , so i may be losing my first.

Improvement of the graphics ???
Sgt.Morgue replied to bighead's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
bighead, To a lot of us old wargamers , the realism of the game means a lot more than graphics. The graphis of CM do a fine job of telling what is going on on the battlefield. -

Old PBEM prob: Unit won't take orders
Sgt.Morgue replied to jdmorse's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
i believe Steve said it had to do with saving the game during the orders phase (bug fixed in final version), solution for demos don't save during orders. [This message has been edited by Sgt.Morgue (edited 05-30-2000).] -
my 2 cents worth. [This message has been edited by Sgt.Morgue (edited 05-24-2000).]

You know you're playing too much CM when...
Sgt.Morgue replied to Mannheim Tanker's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
i've always said , that CM is a very realistic simulation of front line combat. Now i know it is , sounds like most of you guys are starting to show signs of PTSD from this game. -
one small bug i've noticed with smoke , on more than one time i've had 60mm mortors run out of HE but continue the fire mission with smoke , which is unrealistic. just my 2 cents
-
OBG, how can it be a hero , thats more like a turkey shoot , there has to be danger to be heroic (sp). Just my 2 cents
-
i know in CM , even if You rate Yourself high a little misstake or a little bad luck , and suddenly you find yourself being pushed off of the battlefield.

Owner of a one man constrution firm in the carribean , its been hard keeping my company to one man for 11 years but i managed. But for the last 4 1/2 years PTSD from the Vietnam war has made it hard to get along with the boss (which is me) so i work only 1 or 2 days a month . Must be semi-retired , huh ?

Sgt.Morgue replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
MantaRay , at your web site you state that Combat Mission is supposed to be released the first week of July , i believe it is to be released the first week of June. Peace -
