  1. That ATI card will be a very big upgrade for your system but it only has Shader model v2 support, not SM3, like in the later crads, so not as good for eye candy and latest game support the fastest AGP card now, which I have, is the Gainward 7800GS+ 512meg card. It's basicly a Nvida 7900GT in AGP format with 512megs of video ram. Unlike other 7800GS cards it has a 7900GT core, so it comes with 24 piplines instead of 20 and can run at much higher speeds than from the factory, almost as fast as 7900GTX. And the fan is pretty quiet. Along with my P4 3+ gigahertz system, it runs all the latest games pretty well even for such an old system Also make sure your power supply can handle tehse later cards. Get at least a high qulaity 400w unit to be safe. And don't skimp on quality! Not all 400w units are the same, especially no name brand type units
  2. pretty big and tall to me http://img153.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tigereb1.jpg
  3. I dunno, even in RO the tanks don't seem quite big enough in scale to me even with my 22 inch monitor no game has got the scale right yet IMO. Tigers etc are huge tall things, I don't get that feeling
  4. is there an option between the 2 instead of all or none? say after a certain amount of dead bodies have piled up, the earlier ones disappear? Or maybe 1 in 3 dead bodies stay, while the others disaapear etc
  5. "Imba" actually - short for imbalanced I think
  6. or even a sim FPS cum Wargame all in one good thing being unlike most Tank sims, the infantry and support units will be good and act like they should
  7. or you can get one of the new Intel powered Macs and use a software from Apple to install and dual boot Windows XP
  8. Loving the sounds of this, I'm a point and click, sit back and watch guy
  9. It would be nice if you could just click on a name and change it if you wanted to
  10. Will recon and Fog of War be unit specific or, are they all globally aware? in any case this is the wargame of my dreams  But it's taken a while since something like this has come out The RPG elements and carry over from battle to battle plus the self running AI is just sweet!!! 11. They should work with the full game - just copy and overwrite the original files in the texture directory. Off course it would be wise to backup the originals I will fix up the German flag sometime this weekend and make a normal version as well.
  12. Its just the lighting I'll fix it up one day [ September 20, 2002, 09:42 PM: Message edited by: CoolColJ ]
  13. Heinz Thorwald asked me to mod the flags for him. I tested them in the demo, and it works fine, I think they should work OK in the full game. anyway thought some of you maybe interested in them. Sorta more 3D and realistic looking. Both the ingame flags and the small console ones. Consider them as a Beta verison, I didn't spend much time with them. pic German - Reichskriegsflagge version Russian feeback is welcome download here - grab em while you can - They may not stay here long http://www.members.optushome.com.au/coolcolj/CMBB_Mods/CCJ_CMBB_RealisticFlagsV1.00.zip If any sites wanna host em - ask me [ September 20, 2002, 10:22 PM: Message edited by: CoolColJ ]
  14. "A realistic command and control system enables you to give orders to HQ's that in turn develop their own plans for their subordinate units. For the micro manager there is still the option to issue orders to every unit. Enjoy the best of both worlds with this innovative and powerful command system." currently there is too much micromanagemnt for my tastes in CM. It would be nice to have the said above feature in CM2 one day I enjoyed old SSG games and Panther Game's Fire Brigrade alot, because they were continous time. You gave orders to high level formations and the AI comamders controlled the lower level formations based upon your settings/orders for each higher level formation. The game always ran - you just order where you wanted the formations to go and what to do, their posture etc, and as the game ran the units would go about fufilling their orders. I think a Game like CM using this system would have a much different and IMO better flavour of game play. With units reacting and doing things you don't have absolute control over. That way real tactics and strategy is rewarded rather than exact unit placement. Maybe you could give orders to squads and have the individual men in the squad move there on their own accord - or go higher level and give orders to squads/platoons and have fire teams/squads move oh their own - something like that? This way the game can be run continously instead of turn based. I could say give general orders for the units to attack the town and in what direction, and they would move their in their own accord to fufill the objectives etc, and radio you back if the situation dictated, and you could if you wanted, never give another order again and the battle would unfold in front of your eyes without any flow disrupting turns. Ok Maybe not in CM, but if someone could create another squad level game using this said system, that would be great!! Colin
  15. That's alomost as crazy as the gut who built the replica ferarri with working replica v12 engine!
  16. I have a rain mod sound I made myself, very immersive, but its 17megs! Just some nice stereo mic recordings. It goes for about 1 min 40 secs. Just too big to put online I'm afraid. Extremely well recorded and its stereo. Very crisp and clean. Don't mean to boast, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better one. Most of the ones out there sound a bit muffled and hissy for my tastes. It doesn't have any background battle sounds though, just a melodius rain and thunder, quite relaxing Though some people will probably find it too present, ie the rain sounds quite close to the player. 17. I have made one, but its not quite finished yet, dunno if I ever will, but here's a bit of eye candy - my style is more artistic/painterly, going for a cohesive feel and look than most of the mods out there, which are more technical. There are more pics here including the winter version http://www.members.optushome.com.au/coolcolj/CM/ [ April 01, 2002, 03:58 AM: Message edited by: CoolColJ ]
  18. I disagree, the GF3 whips any GF2, and you will need Direct X8 supprt which the GF2 does not have. I just upgraded my TNT2 to a leadtek GF3 ti200 which can overclock from 175/400 to 260/540! And man does it crank not bad for $470AUD spent, even with my P3 868, I can play all the latest game smoothly with everything turned to max.

  20. Call me a perfectionist, but I won't release anything that's not finished. Even if they look complete in the screenshots, all the textures are in various states of completetion, ie some only have the sides and gun finished. If I ever get the motivation and time to work on them you can be sure I will release them, but when your juggling 5 or so different interest and hobbies as I am currently doing now, time is a little on the scarse side I will see how things unfold in the future. I did have a full audio mod, as well as the textures planned, but as in all things in life, you get sidetracked and your interest changes thanks for your interest anyway ccj
  21. I had a few bits and pieces of mods on my site But I'm revamping my site, and they are currently off-line. If any CM sites are interested in hosting them, please email me at coolcolj@optushome.com.au Mods consist of 1) 3D look Flags 2) Low res Tiger Ausf E Late model 3) Low and High res Lynx thanks ccj [ 06-14-2001: Message edited by: CoolColJ ]
