Welcome aboard, solider. I su** at the first time using tanks, but, I do better now. Here are what I am recommending : 1. Be patient and choosing the right tanks. 2. Finding out enemy tanks with your recon 3. Get your tanks ready in firing positons 4. Using a sniper or mortar fires to button enemy tanks 5. Feb, 1945, clear, dry terrain: open, and nothing at all it was just a test A tiger (late)vs a churchill VIII(CC8), they were in front of each other, the CC8 tank fired a smoke round, my tiger can't see it and I ordered the tiger went ahead for it. Then the scence became to : the tiger was at the 2:00 of the CC8, and CC8 was at the 10:00 of the tiger. And, the most stupid thing happened !! The tiger got some hits, it was ok with one dead commander. I recorded the tiger firing history, 34m, 39m, 55m, all missed, at these moment , the tiger almost had the view of the whole side of the CC8, finally got it at 79 m. I know, sh**s happened during the war, but this one was really *&%#$#@$%%*&^% Well, however, this doesn't happen in my PBEM games, thanks God !! Post your, folks !! ------------------ Sgt. I think we need more commands for every unit and make CM more realistic. If I was this unit, I won't fire and just wait for more valuable target, except the ammo truck. Picture this, if you shoot a ammo truck loaded with arty shells (105, 155mm or bigger) at the distance of 100-150 meters, then you know what's the next ----- SEE U IN THE HELL !! ------------------ Sgt. I am trying to answer your questions at my best. my questions are: -What exactly is tungsten? Ans : A metal which is "harder" than the steel, so it can penerate the armor of tanks easier than the AP shell. -What is Hull down? Ans : If your enemy can only see the turent of your tank, then your tank is in hull down position, which means you hide the hull of your tank behind a hill or a stone wall, or anything can cover your tank's hull. -What is AP? Ans : Armor Piercing shell, which made of steel. (which I know there is no explosive inside the shell, so it is not suitable to against soft target) Anyone is welcome to correct it if I was wrong. ------------------ Sgt. (I used MP44 and BAR) According to the fire power table, BAR is better than the MP44, but, what do you think, guys ?? I doubt !! No, not a squad MG on a bi-pod, it is on a tri-pod, so I would like to call it a "HMG" (although it is not really so heavy for each men who carrying it). Hi, guys : This is what happened when I was in the army. In an small exercise, I brought my own rifle with 200 rounds, and carry about 800 rounds of 7.62 mm ammo for the MG team, in fact, I run a little faster than they did. By the way, when moving or running during the combat, we don't disassemble (am I spelling wrong ??) the MGs, only in a long march with no enemy contact. "They can run a short distance" that means the distance is 50-100 meters, the more they run, and the more time they need to be rested. However, there is also a rule for running, the continuous running time should be less than 1 min and 30 seconds (or you have some other opinions), since those things are kind of heavy. I watched SPR and saw a two-men M1919 team did run from house to house. ****************************************** I posted this since I think the CM is the most real squad level simulation is the whole world, now and before. Yes, I think so, at least for a short distance. Take the heaviest MG 50 Cal in CM for example, 3 men take each end of the tripot and they can run for 100 meters and won't be weary. I did this when I was in the army. Also, the mortar unit can run like the MG units, but only for a short distance. If two men take a 81mm mortar, sure, they can run for a while. Although both of these units can't run as fast as the rifle squads, but they do run. Especially when someone is shooting at them, who will walk slowly like a sitting duck ??
