1. The Van is back in all its rusted glory and it appears not a moment too soon. With the popularity of lightning fast processors and 20 inch rims, it looks to be a good year for both of us. Still catching up on this thing you call CMx2 so I don't have much input at the moment, but I am sure glad to see that the level of intellectual debate is still quite high here. It is relieving to see some familiar greybeards and dedicated novices and newbies. I have no doubt as to the quality and depth of any BF product. It is definitely in good hands. Now if I could only get you guys to make a grand strategy game... von shrad
2. It seems to have been a good time to check out one of my old favorites at Battlefront.com. A new engine to a lengendary title was something spoken in whispers and dreams just a few years ago and now it looks to be happening. Great news indeed. Looks like the wait is on....again Not to be too sappy but CM and it's effect on me as far as wargames go are some of my fondest Computer gaming memories. Best wishes all. von shrad
3. And where are the power-ups and armor packs? Can you make it real time too with first person view and unlimited arms carried? I want grenade launchers and night vision goggles. And let us not forget about the brothels.... Meaningless? Not on my monitor!!!!!!!!! von shrad, still looking for the Boots of Elvenkind [ October 12, 2002, 07:09 AM: Message edited by: von shrad ]
4. Now that is customer service. Going above and beyond the call to make something work. Just like the reply I received today from Madmatt 15 minutes after my initial e-mail. Fan-tastic. Way to go BFC and Madmatt. von shrad, drifting in the Astral Plane
5. Andreas I am glad you are beta testing BB and are probably making battles for it. You have always had a great talent for putting together some awesome scenarios. I can't wait to see a east front version of 'Aftermath'.You remember that one don't you. It was my favorite BO battle ever. Played it 3 times against people and the outcome was very close each time. Thanks Andreas for putting together your visions for us untalanted gits. von shrad cooling down
6. GRRRRrrrrrRRR!!!! MUST FIGHT URGE TO FLAME!!!! Somebody e-mail me when BTS releases ANYTHING to it's faithful fans without having to drive for hours or give away my personal information. Things have changed for the worse and I don't like it one bit. von shrad extremely disappointed
7. Welcome aktaion, what took you so long? Since I really don't remember what mods I have installed and only have a dial-up connection that severely limits getting them,I really cannot give you advice as to what mods to install. I am sure one of our resident Mod-Sluts will be around shortly to help you out there because there are MANY great mods done. Maybe I can help you with the Mac OSX problem. Fist off, what is it? O.K. lets skip that one too. As to what CM to buy? I would recommend buying the first one if you can because it deals with a whole different front. If the West Front interest you than you will want to play over these not so distant battlefields. It is a great game and no matter what is released after CMBO it is and will always be a masterful representation of battles between the Western Allies and German forces. Look at how many people still play this game regularly after 2 years. There are not a lot of games out there that have the replay value to make that claim. Yet, if you cannot afford CMBO and CMBB and it is the Ostfront that peaks your curiosity most than you should wait until CMBB. If you can buy both games then I honestly feel you should. Sure there are changes in BB, as there should be with a new title, but they cover two totally different theaters with their own OOB's and equipment. I will be buying CMBB the first chance I can but I will always love and play CMBO. Hope that helps in your decision making. I look forward to meeting you on the battlefield soon. Either in Western Europe or Russia, or preferably both. von shrad
8. o.k. then. Sounds like it is already a final product so I will just sit back and wait for the demo. von shrad
9. Thanks for the quick response. I do have to admit that I am curious as to why your team decided to not include countries names. It seems to me that not including them would be a mistake. When I look at the map it was the first thing that stood out as missing. Place names greatly increases the look and feel of the map and would instanly give a summary of how I am doing and a sense of unity. Not to mention how it will appear when, say Germany was being overrun and half it's hexes and name were now in Allied hands. If it is a clutter issue than I suggest a toggle. Overall the game looks very nice to me but IMHO I think place names are something to reconsider. Thanks again, von shrad
10. I ask JonS' question in search for an answer; Will place names be visible on the map? I sure hopoe they will be.It looks way too bare as it is. I am SO looking forward to it's release as much as CMBB. Maybe when we start getting any word about CM that might change. von shrad
11. Bump. I have been waiting for a game like this for a long time. I do hope it has enough depth to keep an old A3R fan content. NO PRINTED MANUAL? That I don't like. Good luck guys. There is plenty of room for a GS game as long as it carries an A.I. much stronger than Axis and Allies did. I gave that game to my 9 y.o. nephew and he has already conquered it! Pathetic. Answer Aacooper's questions and then riddle me this; How many different research catagories are there?
12. Wishing for a bone from Madmatt might not get the desired results you were looking for and could leave you a little chapped. One thing is certain; before too long there will be constant updates and screens to keep us drooling. Matt is a P.R. genius that wants to share the goodies but not before their time. He is the Ernest Gallows of tidbits. I imagine a HUGE buildup to the release that should not disappoint any. Regular updates, answered questions and feature examples should be forthcoming soon. What I look forward to the most would be a possible battle and AAR much like the Alpha of B.O. pre-beta days between Fionn and Moon. I do hope Fionn is in on the project and all parties are willing for another public battle for us to drool over. It's what sold me and countless others. So my point to all this rambling is this I guess; Battlefront and Madmatt have yet to let me down and I don't expect it to be any different this time around either. von shrad
13. When can this be expected to be released? And isn't this a little O.T. von shrad
14. I'm a Union Floor Layer by trade with 14 years exp. and my advice would be this; You get a lot more life out of carpeting by spending a little more on a better quality padding than a slightly upgraded carpet. I suggest a 8# rebound and stay away from any foam pad without a doubt. Your money will go a lot farther. A 2 month or so break from the forum and this is the thread I post to......? von shrad
15. The poolers are a great bunch of non-gamey bastards. Real opponents. von shrad
16. Oh, I forgot an important part. I am sorry. I know we have exchanged a few e-mails since it started, all in good taste but, I was public with my rant and am big enough to be public with an apology. Sorry Slappy. I was wrong for taking the approach I did. As you were. Nothing to see here you looky-Loo's. von shrad [ 09-20-2001: Message edited by: von shrad ]
17. Agreed. I see now where he stands on things. It is just my nature to stand up where I feel people were wronged, although sometimes I may have jumped the gun. If you want I will retract previous statements but, I would rather keep them up for all to see. I rarely am ashamed of things I say because I usually mean them. I do however see your point on Cauldron and will cease to assist someone who doesn't have the common sense to stand up for themselves or to take a stand when someone is for them. It was confirmed when I saw he started another thread, if only to incite people into another flame. Make no mistake though, I am not some common criminal without an education. I am passionate about many things and I hope you are not referring to me in your post about kid beaters. That would be beyond the line. I don't think you are but, one never knows. Anyway, peace and good luck in your competition. Maybe you should start another thread instead of wallowing in the filth that I helped create. von shrad
18. I hope I don't sound greedy when I say; Give it to me now! NOW I tell you. Not later NOW,NOW,NoWWWW!!!!!! ooops sorry. Got a little worked up. BTW, I bet I have many of them Rune old boy but, if you don't mind can you float them my way. I just love getting my arse kicked in one of Runes' scenarios. buMp von shrad
19. Well good thing you started another thread instead of posting to the horrible one already started. If you reply to this, try to keep it in the same thread for everyone else sake instead of atarting yet another. BTW, I don't think anyone was ammused. *sigh* von shrad
20. Oooooh. I'm so excited. Red Dwarf is on tonight on BBC America. I hope it meets my expectations, which are for a very silly show. If it is like anything I recommend, it will be it's worst show. Do you Brits enjoy a good American classic such as Airplane or Animal House? Sonds like they could be along the same genre, without those great accents and bad teeth. von shrad
21.
quote:
My full-time partners though work hard for their dollar and I respect them a great deal.

Fair enough. von shrad
22. Hehe...I bet you would sure try. You wouldn't be the first wannabie Dick I have made meet the pavement. You are probably pretty tough with your police friends backing you up. Guess what? I have these friends too and they and I don't care about 5 dollar an hour badge wearing sissies like you. You are an ass. A smart one, but an ass just the same. von shrad And yes I enjoy manual labor. Great benefits and an awesome pension too. Don't mistake me for ignorant though, it will cost you more than you think.
23. Yeah, I'd love to be a student in this guys class. I hope he doesn't chastise and try to humiliate his pupils like he did Cauldron. 'Bzzzzt. wrong answer, dumbass.' Keep your 50 bucks. BTW, I know a few wannabie Deputy Sheriffs. Do they all enjoy punking around pimply-faced teenagers? von shrad
