That would be great if the program can work for Mac player's too. Sometimes the mods I drag and drop into my bmp folder don't show up in the game. For example I've been trying the pillbox/bunker mod, uniform mods andsome of the winter camo mods and they never show up. Any idea why that happens? All best Patrick

Goodbye China - G'idday Australia
lucero1148 replied to Capitalistdoginchina's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Terry Have a good move down under. Guess if Tools4fools and I make it to Hk in December you won't be around to meet up. Well so much for the Far East meet. Drop a line if you're down in Manila and it'll be a pleasure to have a pint or two with you. All best Patrick -
Scenario editing & landmark ID's
lucero1148 replied to lucero1148's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
Yo WWB Muchas Gracias, that was like magic! I should have known better! All best Patrick -
Has anyone notice when making a custom map that landmarks you try to identify do not appear in the preview or in the game itself when played. Say you want to identify a factory building, control click on the building inthe map maker brings up the landmark dialog box. After typing in a name you check it out in the map preview. Factory building shows nothing. Certainly not the same as in CMBO. Is this just happening to me or has anyone else experience this. If this is a flaw in the editor maybe someone can restore the landmark ID system so that the name you want actually appears on the map in the game and preview. Patrick

Winter tank/uniform mod question
lucero1148 replied to Pak_40_Gunner[11b]'s topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
The game engine is smart enough to know that winter uniforms etc. are season specific. So no your winter mods won't show up in summer. All best Patrick -
Just thought I would plug my little mod site.
lucero1148 replied to Mark Gallear's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Mark Nice site. I played your Polar Bears Op and that is great fun. Very challenging agaist the AI and more so HTH. Lot's of surprises. All best Patrick -
Personally I think the morale factors are quite accurate. When people panick they do weird things . Period. So if a regular squad panicks at the sight of a single casualty that's very realistic, their being soldiers doesn't prevent them from being human (computer generated or not). If the troops are well trained they will carry on and fight and ignore losses until a critical mass of combat stress is reached. Then they will also panick and look for a way out of their situation. all best Patrick

Marcus As long as you keep your fashion sense on how to dress AFV's and off the girlie's it will be "marvelous". It's all those soft curves that throws you off. come to think of it those curves can get me slack jawed as well... Where you drinking at in BGK? You should be seeing loads of tourists there now that Bali is off the tourist maps. Most of the travel mags I work for have already cancelled any Bali stories on their editorial schedules. If this goes on there won't be any travel stories coming out of SE Asia. All best Patrick

Tools, Gee Marcus I worry about you sometimes...naahhh not at all. Your fashion sense for the ladies is highly suspect though. You've been sitting in toomany girlie bars I think. Albert, Neil's selling equipment? Interesting. I'll txt you later. This week isn't so good for me toime wise maybe next week . Do you have an ethernet cord to hook up your laptop to my G3. They sent you a pc version? Bummer. Lucky Strike, I see with your wife in the province you really must be lucky! Didn't realize there was this many people with connections to the Philippines. Griffen Hi, never really corresponded with you but have read a number of posts by you. Next time I get up to HK I'll email you and would enjoy meeting up with you. Who know's if Tools4fools is up there at the same time then it would defintiely be something to contemplate about a Far East tourney. CDIC, Hey if you've down this ways give a shout and we'll meet up for a beer or two unless the missus has you booked for the local fiesta and beuty pageant! All best Patrick

Capt. ayers, Until today i thought I was the only one in Manila. If you're visiting in Feb. drop a line and we'll have a CM meet and San Migs in Manila. Marcus will be here in January till March. All best Patrick

Hi Guys Woke up and saw to my surprise that the population of CM players has increrased by 200%. Labrador, Same guy as the web site but that was 13 years ago. Hey we should meet up and have a beer and get a game going. I'm down in Paco, Manila and you're welcome to drop by (txt me@ 09168457027) CMBO and CMBB when you get your copy. What are you using for a system? I'm on a Mac. Glad to have another player in MNL. Marcus BB is fascinating. Trying out some of these new units like the ski troops - cool! Still getting the hang of the armor commands but reading over your AAR's has made an impact on tactics and innovative use of ythose commands. No relations to Bea Lucero, or anyone else here for that matter. Are you in MNL too? All best Patrick

Got it yesterday in the post . Took only 14 days to get to me and didn't even go through customs so there wasn't any duty on it either. BTW is there anyone else with CMBO or CMBB in the Philippines or am I still all alone in this country? Patrick

New section needed at the Scenario Depot?
lucero1148 replied to Michael Dorosh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
It's a great idea. However you might be wasting your time if no one bothers to send back a review of the scenario. Scenario Depot is a great place for scenarios but maybe 1% of people taking scenarios ever send in a review. How will you ensure to get a review back from the community who downloads the test scenarios. Most people are too lazy to take the time out to respond. All best Patrick -

Mac users w/Radeon 8500, please read
lucero1148 replied to L.Tankersley's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I'm using a Radeon for Mac PCI card (one of the first Radeons to come out for older Macs) and the fog/smoke looks fine and transparent to me. I've a friend who just bought the 8500 card as well and is suffering the same problem as you. Not any help but I sympatize your predicament, All best Patrick -
The Communists get CMBB!
lucero1148 replied to Capitalistdoginchina's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Hi, I'm amazed you got yours so quick. I'm still waiting in the PI for it. Marcus (tools4fools) will be heading back to Asia in Oct going to BGK, HK and S. China and then down to Manila. If you're down here in January, Feb drop a line and we could all meet for a beer and possibly do a game or battle. Come to think of it I might be in HK when Marcus is up there so maybe we should do a Far East face off? All best Patrick -
M1910 Maxim Machine Guns in 7.62 mm x 54 calibre
lucero1148 replied to Dr.Juzzy's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I noticed that no one has mentioned the fact that Maxim's were also used as samovars. After firing a hundred rounds that water cooled barrel would be steaming and perfect for a cup of tea for the commander and crews comfort. All best Patrick -
Thanks for the response mayvbe that's it. However my opponent was able to open the same maps when I sent it a month ago, but now he gets the messages to update the maps? Will look into it somemore. All best Patrick

Hi, Both I and my opponent are using the latest v.1.12 of CMBO. We are currently trying to use a custom map, but when my opponent tries to open the map to order his units the game refuses to open the map and says that the file must be updated to the latest version (v1.12). He's on a PC and I'm on a Mac. Any ideas? If the custom map was designed on an earlier version of CMBO would that be the cause of it? Thanks Patrick

Any luck with Anti-Tank Rifles?
lucero1148 replied to CombatGeneral's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I just KOed a MK IV this morning surprisingly from 180m. Firing directly behind the tank from the left hill on center of the map. It took about 3 turns and each turn registered a rear penetration until finally the tank was abandoned. As for the 45mm AT's I have had good luck from mass fire at close range (under 120m front shot ) but nearly all kills are due to rear or side shots. Usually by the end of the turn 4 out of 5 AT's are dead but I'll have gotten 6 to 7 tanks killed as well or immobilized. -
Mac Users - Download acceleration
lucero1148 replied to Sidewinder's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
SSidewinder Thanks for the tip on Download Deputy. I got the shareware and it allowed me to d/l cmbb over a period of 15 hours. Only because i. I've got a slow dial up averaging about 1 to 2 k/sec plus I couldn't d/l straight through as I have other people wanting to use the phone line too. If it wasn't for the utility I'd never have gotten it in the first place! All best Patrick -
Almost done: new JPz IV mod
lucero1148 replied to tools4fools's topic in Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord
Marcus You've been busy. Enjoyed your party description of the exploding tiles. You must have added some extra 105 shells from our battle into the bon fire you made. ;-P Great mod. When you're finished don't forget to send me a copy please. All best Patrick
