If you did everything right, then I'm not sure what the problem is. Could be some kind of extension conflict. Try minimizing your system, so that you only use the extensions you absolutely must have. Our machines are identical, and I haven't had nearly as many lockups as I did before deactivating the cache. In fact, I think it's only happened once since then. For me, lockups virtually always happen during the orders phase. I did find, before I installed the cache software, that saving regularly helped (reduced the number of lockups substantially, and also made it easier to get back to where I left off if needed). Good luck.

Nope doing everything that I'm supposed to. The lockups are a few less but I figured that the Powerlogix software might prevent any lockups. Most of my lockups have been during the order phase also, that's why the one during the movie seemed a little weird. Believe me, the lock ups are no where near lessening my enjoyment of this game. It's just a pain at times.
 2. It again locked up on me. This time during a move phase. just locked up while drawing the move. And I know that I had the backside cache shut down. Not a big deal thanks to the autosave function, but I have to reboot machine because of it. Any ideas? I double and triple checked to make sure the extension was loaded and you can tell that it is during startup.

 4.
quote:
Originally posted by Buckeye: Stupid question, but did you install the system extension that came with the software? And then reboot? I did both, and it hasn't been locking up on me like before (I have an iMac DV SE w/ 192 megs RAM also).

Yep, did all the stuff I was supposed to. I'm hoping it's a one time thing.
 5. I'm using an iMac SEDV with 192 megs of ram and installed the software recommended in the manual to turn off backside cache. Here's my problem and only happened once so far. Did a quick build, pretty much using the default settings. On about 3-4 turn the computer locked up while in the middle of a movie. Before it had locked up during a set up phase and using the directional keys. Sound was playing and everything seemed fine, except the computer locked up. I thought the powerlogix install was supposed to prevent the lockups, or is this a different issue. Or better yet, is it just a one time fluke. Just thought you guys might want to know about this.
 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Goanna: I'll join the me too crowd. Moriarty, don't you owe me a turn? You know, it'll never come if you don't get Daz to quit camping by his mailbox.

You been watching? I've got a good suntan though. Nothing like being on vacation and I can't even play this though. Hey Moriarty, you owe me a turn too....slacker.

He has an incredible high tolerance for pain. That, and his count is falsely inflated to begin with. The tattoo on his forehead originally started with 666.

Or even better, to test how well the commode works, try flushing the cat. Then let us know what it sounds like.
 14. my bad, double post [This message has been edited by bauhaus (edited 06-07-2000).]
 15. don't hold your breath, there was another thread saying that they hoped to have them in their warehouse in the next week or two.
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by Berlichtingen: While most of us have attempted the rush on the German left, Bauhaus' rush was a little different. Just to make it sporting, he waited a turn before starting the rush. Don't worry, I already pinned the Order Of The Bonehead on his chest

Yes, the Military Penis is correct. I waited a turn, cause I was going to ambush him, then grew impatient. When you play against Herr General Gotz1eye you tend to out think yourself. In hindsight, I blew it, to put it mildly.
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by Berlichtingen: Hmm, I've tried it several times... usually works. I guess in Bauhaus' case, its just that he is rather pathetic

You taught me everything I know when it comes to wargaming.
 18. Let's see if you can beat this one. I sent 3 German infantry squads and a schreck team up the left side of the map near the wall ( in VoT) in an attempt to flank Berli in a PBEM game. That and to take out some shermans when they came in. I had them in fast move past the wall and on their way into the woods when I ran into an American anti-tank team. Needless to say......Dead anti-tank team. Cocky as my men were, they continued on their merry way into the woods only to run into the entire American army. There may have been Marines, some British forces, a smattering of hunters out for the weekend, and a group of housewives out for a walk in the woods. Needless to say, my men became target practice. I lost all of them within 15 seconds.......except for one brave soul who made it to the next turn before being exterminated. Bloody, just bloody.......though the pattern the bodies fell in spell S.O.S. for all aircraft to read while flying above the battle field. How's that for pathetic?
 19. double post, my bad. [This message has been edited by bauhaus (edited 05-24-2000).]
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by entec: You should play it several time, I've had bunkers last thourgh tremendous pounding and still take more, and I've also lost bunkers on the first shot from those 105s.

I have played it several times and have yet to see the bunkers make it through turn 10. Maybe I'm expecting too much out of them?
 21. First things first, I'm am know where near being an expert, so if I off target, I apologize. That being said, I'm a little disappointed with the durability of the bunkers in VT. The wood bunkers I understand, but the concrete bunkers, they don't take much more abuse than the wood bunkers. I always thought they could take a lot more punishment, but most of times one good shot from a Sherman or a 105 and they are history. I was playing the AI and lost 2 concrete bunkers on turn one, to shermans. Is that really how it was, or are they a little less durable in the game for some reason. This game is incredible, and this is really only a minor complaint, if even that. I was just hoping that the bunkers were a better defensive tool, but they really add to VT being a drastically unbalanced scenario.
 22.
quote:
Originally posted by Miyamoto Musashi: I'm running an 8mb card on the Mac, but I'm running a little better than middle of the road system... everything's running fine on my comp (transparencies, smoke, etc)... although it has locked up twice for no apparent reason.

I have had a lock up also. Are you playing on an iMac DVSE? Game locked up, cursor could move, sound sounded as if it were going through a loop. I couldn't even force quit. Had to reboot my machine. Thank god for auto save though, I lost next to nothing. By the way, it locked up when I was deleting a smoke target from my 105 in the Valley of Death scenario. Other than that, the game, in the words of that famous philosopher Herr Cartman is, "Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet." [This message has been edited by bauhaus (edited 05-12-2000).]
