  1. Juardis, I can't respond about the Paris scenario, but you should know me well enough to know if you write me about a problem in a scenario we'll TRY to fix it. It's fine that you posted it here. I have no problem with that. I wish you had notified me earlier. I'll take a look and see how I can fix that up. Got any details? Where on the map did you see this? Map edge, Nijmegen proper? Reinforcements? Starting units? Give me some feedback and I'll see what I can do. Post it here if you wish. No problem. Just let me know so I can remedy it for you and others. Thanks for letting us know...Wild Bill ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  2. Gaming is a great stress reliever...in most cases The newest scenario of mine to go up at the CMHQ Game Depot is in fact, a stress builder, not for the faint of heart. Combat Mission is ideal for hard close in city fighting. This is what you have here. US engineers attacking at the same moment that German forces are trying to take over Vossenack, near Shmidt. Moving cautiously (but not too cautiously :eek from building to building, wondering if you are going to be fired upon, whichever side you play can be unnerving. Give it a try. I think you'll find it challenging, either as the Germans or the Amis. http://combathq.thegamers.net Go to Scenario Depot. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

  15. The unexpected is expected in this game. That Chaffee kill is another, a nice ironic touch. I'm sure that tank team had a lot to say to the Pershing boys later ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

  17. I understand your frustration. Actually Epee, it is both. It is an Allied attack against German defensive positions with a strong counterattack being mounted at the same time. It was kinda hard to put in there "Meeting engagement around enemy defensive postions with a strong parallel counterattack." Not every battle will fit neatly into those two categories. Sorry I misled you. I have a mean streak like that ! I'll try to figure out a new way to word it...WB ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

  19. Thanks Tom! A very good point of comparison and things in the field do happen to change the situation. Hitler's commanders were very adept at reading other meanings into the Fuhrer's stand and die orders. I can hear Manstein,"The Fuhrer orders us to stand and die. I think we'll stand and die on the west side of the Dnieper, not here!" CM accurately mirrors that, thankfully. I've seen more than one Sherman grind gears, shoving that bad boy in reverse when the snout of a Panther peeks around a building. He'll get no reprimand from me. He saw it before I did . Hey Tom, you got a brother named Joe? Sorry, had to say it.... ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

  21. Thanks Fellas. Its one of my personal all time favorites. I've played the scenario more times than I've watched the movie. Playing it puts all those final scenes back into my head. And there is plenty of room there I'm very happy you guys liked it. Thanks for letting me know. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  22. I wish I could, Lloyd. You know I would! I personally have my own "victory" system apart from the game, any game. And especially in a unique scenario like this one. The goal is to rescue the wounded, get back in one piece, both you and them. Do that and you have won. The computer can prattle about victory or defeat but YOU know you did what was required of you. So you won, big time. And I qualify most scenarios and operations in that vein. I know when I won. If I took the field, captured the objectives and minimized my losses, Buddy, I won, case closed. The victory screen can take a flying leap! It's kinda like the boss saying after you KNOW you did a jam-up job, "Yeah, its okay...but I might have done it a little better..." PLEASE! The hell you say! I know it's done right. You won. Fair and square. I'm sure those wounded German troops consider it a major victory . Thanks Lloyd! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  23. Interesting, Havermeyer. Its a good learning tool, that is for sure. Wiltz is one I use like that too. And also, because its fun...right? ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  24. Hey Lewis, I've been reading this thread with interest. May I ask you a couple of questions? Sorry, I'm just not up to date on your credentials. Help me out. Bear with me a bit. 1. Have you ever been on a beta test team? If so, which game(s)? 2. Have you ever written a nice list of suggestions for what you think are innacuracies or areas for improvement and submitted them to BTS? 3. Do you have a problem with all the beta testers, or just some of them? Do you know who the beta testers are? Have you talked or written them? Or do you simply have a bone to pick with some of the beta test team? 4. Are you an experienced programmer, who knows just what you can and can't do within the limits of computer wargaming or do you subscribe to the statement, "Oh you can simulate anything with a computer game?" 5. Are you perhaps angry because you were not included in the beta test team? Do you feel that if you had been, none of the problems you seem to find in the game would be there? Would you answer those for me? It would help me to get a better grip on the validity of your statements. Thank you, ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com [This message has been edited by Wild Bill Wilder (edited 07-31-2000).]
