  1. What I'd like to see is a utility within the game that saves and combines all of the individual movie files from a battle into one long continuous movie. That way, I can sit down, grab some popcorn, and watch the whole battle as it happened from start to finish. BTW, thanks for the translucent buildings. They look great!! Nice touch. TeAcH
  2. What fond memories of gaming beyond Ogre you two brought up for me Madmatt and Mike! Matt, you hit the nail on the head! Great games and six bucks! Man! I must say that if there ever was a game company out there that could pull off a true conversion of some of these games making them both fun and playable it would have to be BTS. CarWars! Loved it! Even the computer clone called AutoDuel on the Apple was fun in its day. Hmm..what great memories! TeAcH
  3. I must say, this engine seems perfect for a remake of that classic Steve Jackson strategy gem called OGRE. Massive computer driven killing machine versus ground vehicles, artillery, and infantry! HINT HINT HINT. Anyone who has ever played the board game or the early computer adaptation will remember how much fun this one was. I also think they will agree that the marriage of CM's engine, BattleFront's penchant for detail, and OGRE's fun design would make for a surefire strategy game hit. Merry Christmas, TeAcH
  4. Thanks for the usual quick and informative reply! TeAcH
  5. Forgive me if this was in a previous thread, but the idea occurred to me how it would be nice if the defending side of a battle had defensive items (sandbags, foxholes, bunkers, etc.) at their setup disposal. This way the US player in the Last Defense scenario for example could place sandbags or a bunker in locations thus fortifying certain areas. I'll defer to the grogs, hehe Thanks, TeAcH
  6. Sorry if this was answered in a previous thread, but I'd like to see a JOIN command on the infantry menu. That way, I can combine rag-tag groups of men (2 of 12, 3 of 9, etc.) together and pool ammo if one group of 4 is at LOW ammo and a group of 3 has some ammo left. I think this would be realistic. I was playing a game the other day and ended up having three wounded rifle squads next to eachother. Each squad was comprised of about 2-4 men. One was outta ammo, the others had a little left. I desperately wanted to join them together as one sqaud of 8 and continue an assault on a German position. Perhaps this is something that could be added easily now, later in a patch for CM1, or in CM2 if the general consensus thinks this is a good feature. Any thoughts?? BTS, thanks for a wonderful game. I am really looking forward to its release. Merry Christmas, TeAcH PS. Fionn, keep up the good work. What a source of WW2 knowledge you are! How do you remember it all?? And, don't let some of the chat get you down.
  7. <---scratching his head trying to figure out the meaning behind what JonS just said. That sounded fine JonS, wording-wise, but it made no sense whatsoever. You must be a philosophy major I'm guessing. =) TeAcH
  8. I dont think this was GAMEY at all. SS, I think it was clever and very realistic! Good job! TeAcH
  9. That's my point Rick. I think we all agree that one would have to play the wait and see game, like you in that game. Makes for a better game I say TeAcH
  10. Perhaps this was already asked for and/or is in the final, but an option to name your game or opponent in PBEM matches would be a help to keep some order when playing multiple people. I know how to take care of it myself manually but Id like the computer to name the PBEM file something like PBEM-vs Lt Bull for example. Thanks TeAcH
  11. Forgive me if this was already discussed or implemented. I would like the locked view on a unit to remain locked while the LOS tool is used to see what the unit sees (scan the field of view). That is, I zoom right in there to see what the unit sees, and when I use the line of sight tool to scan the area, the view drops away. For example, I was playing chance encounter as the Germans and I had a unit in the church on the second floor. I TAB'ed (locked the view on that unit) and zoomed using magnification level two, I believe, wanting to scan the area while maintaining that unit in the lock mode. I activated the LOS tool and when I moved the mouse, the view dropped away. Thanks and a superb, absolutely brilliant game, TeAcH
  12. Im game. No prefs. d.teach@gte.net or ICQ 183078 TeAcH
  13. I dunno. I just started my first PBEM game and so far so good (at turn 3). Keeping my fingers crossed now, though. Hoping your problems are specific to your setup, TeAcH
  14. Just a question to the pros here. Would it be more realistic if the actual effect of a tank hit is only reported (text wise) to the tanks owner/player. That is, the enemy player wouldnt truly know what the hit did (no text report shown to him). It would mean watching the shell bounce off or *PANG* into the tank. That might mean I'm not sure what my shot did and what happended and I may have to either continue to target it after it is knocked out or watch to see if it appears damaged. Just a thought. TeAcH
  15. I'm truly sorry if this is a repeat question, but will the final release sport a movie playback mode that allows the whole game to be viewed as one big move? A seperate movie file could log and combine all of the moves for this purpose. Once again, sorry if this is repetitive. TeAcH
  16. Guys, I recommend an ad in World War 2 magazine. Should hit a good target audience there. I've seen other computer game ads in there too albeit wargaming ones. TeAcH
  17. Okay. Here I go. Let me see if I can say this right, but first off, if it means significant delay on the final release, then bag it. A demo of the new build would serve a very useful purpose. 1) It would allow the huge customer base, evident here in posts, to continue on as quasi-beta testers on the most recent build helping to refine the quality of the final product. This is not to say that a demo has to be made for every new build. Ayone else have any other compelling reasons to add here? TeAcH
  18. Thanks so much for enlightening me about publishers and their tactics. I just never realized that that would be the case. Now that I think about what you all have said about them, it really jogs my memory. I do remember reading all sorts of the articles in various computer mags about those very things you all mentioned (rushed out the door, the dumbing down of the game, deadlines, etc.) Please pardon my ignorance. I wish you all great success. Who knows? Maybe you all will rewrite that whole scene with this one. It sure is an impressive title like none before it. That's because a publisher wasn't involved! Right? (See. I learn quick). Wishing I had the money to buy 20 copies to pay you back for this gem, TeAcH

  20. Will thunder be added to the ambient sound along with the rain? That would be nice. TeAcH
  21. I, like all of your fans, would like to see you guys nab a publisher (like Talonsoft for example) so that the game would end up in stores. I preordered but I would like to see ya'll be able to make alot of money on it and enjoy healthy dividends. As a gamer, and a huge fan, I know I would only benefit from having you all in charge of future projects with lotsa cash-ola. Is there a chance that you all might seek a publisher for retail sales with CM2?? What about the shareware model that brought fame and fortune to Id's Doom? Keep up the great work.
