  1. For those that dont know, one can use the PAUSEBREAK key to pause the game and issue orders then restart the action. Its the only way I enjoy it. I play at the hardest difficulty against the AI but use this pause feature to manage my units better.
  2. Im not crazy about the realtime aspect unless it has little micro management and more of a battlefield commander "sim" aspect to it. I dont know how that would be pulled off but...
  3. Hi guys! I'm still a die-hard CM fan from back in the day..haha. Anyway, I mean no disrespect when I mention COH. I know the money and resources they have to make that engine....if only it was CM3. Man. I know you all will pull of something great for your next engine. Try to add dual core support for larger maps and etc. Im sure this has been discussed to death. Man, that CoH engine tho..outstanding. Maybe someone will mod it.
  4. ...are beautiful. This game, although an RTS, would be simply outstanding as Combat Mission. Image this engine with CMs game design. Woo...sweet.
  5. Looking forward to the demo version as well. Thanks.
  6. Sorry that I've been absent from this forum so long but as one of the two man team that made the BER (Badco Engame Randomizer) I hereby authorize anyone to do whatever they want with it or post it for download or whatever. Sorry the badco site went TU. BradleyH (the other developer of BER) and I only had the site up for the BER and took it down after the DL of the BER stopped. If anyone has any questions, you can email me at teachdj@yahoo.com or ICQ 183078. TeAcH
  7. I think I still have this program (that BradleyH and I made). If anyone wants a free copy, email me at teachdh@yahoo.com
  8. Okay. Seanachai, your argument is sound but your logic is flawed. Besides, it looks like you just enjoy watching yourself type WAY too much. I mean, do you really talk like that to people outside of a forum? That was a cheap shot I know and I expect some retaliation but I wrote it because your replies Seanachai are so condesending and fruity they are just plain annoying to read...even if you have a good point to make here and there. Listen: I don't need nice new super-graphics to enjoy a game although I think they can add (not subtract) to immersion and the fun factor. Like I said, I bought CMBO and CMBB as soon as they were released and I love those games...graphics and all. I have been around this forum as a faithful CM'er for a long time. I even devoted a great deal of time making that CMBO BER software program to randomize the end of a game. I know what makes a good game and what makes a great game. I dont need lecturing and babbling to about what I like and don't. I have two BTS gamers on my shelf that show I have taste (and that BTS is great). My point was that graphics are not a bad thing. Agreed? With MODS and such, I can get nearly the same amount of awesome enjoyment from CMBO and CMBB that I think I would get from CMAK. That's all. I don't mean any disrespect. I am a devoted fan of BTS and like most of you, I have sold copies to friends (on BTS' behalf) via word of mouth. Graphics to me add to the immersion factor and to the WOW factor. I don't want graphics at the expense of gameplay either. To suggest otherwise is to not know me or to misread my post. But to say that CM can't be cosmetically upgraded is to say BTS isn't up to the task. I really appreciate that BTS lowered the price of CMAK. The mere fact that they did perhaps adds a sliver of weight to my initial post; that BTS realized that some gamers might not buy it because of what it did not provide. I don't know. All I was trying to say, all I was trying to do, was to be honest with BTS as a loyal fan. Do I need to be told that my desire to see new graphics is a crappy one? No. I do not. According to some of the logic put forth here, SSI should be cranking out Computer Ambush 2003 complete with Black and White graphics, Asterisks, and letters for soldiers. Really folks. CM2 will be great because the folks behind it are great. I would just have preferred to let the MOD community drum up Afrika Korps battles while BTS uses the past X months time to work on the next engine. That's all. And ianc, thanks for chiming in at the expense of a flaming Seanachi. And thanks to BTS for making the game you love to make and we love play. TeAcH
  9. Perhaps this is a little premature since Ive only played the demo a few times, but I do not think I will be buying this version after buying the first two (CMBO and CMBB) as soon as they were released. Although the change in setting is nice, for me the lack of a substantial engine upgrade leaves me with a little sense of getting something new. I know there will be some new units a few new tricks with the old engine but it still feels dated. I'm sorry to say that. I realize that a new engine is coming with the next release but to me, the new engine should have been released now. I'm not whining. I'm not trying to show any disrespect, I'm just a previous Battlefront customer who is not going to pony up. I might be in the minority, who knows. I truly think we all want to see an engine that flexes some of the muscle of our systems and might even dabble in DX9 features. The tactical joy is still present in CMAK undoubtedly, but I can play CMBB and still get that. There is very little that makes me open the wallet again with CMAK. But that is just my opinion. My son was playing Motorcycle Madness 2 and even though that game is a few years old now, the engine used to draw terrain and vehicles is impressive especially when compared to CMAK. I know MM2 it isnt geared to do ALL that CM is geared but to BUT no one can make the argument that there is no room for improvements in graphics in CM and that a new engine couldnt pull that off. Some of the new terrain is neat but not worthy (to me) of buying it. I would have liked to have seen the last year or so of dev time applied fully to a new engine. To the Battlefront crew, I'll be hanging in there for the next big engine and will snatch it up just as soon as goes up for sale. Maybe I'm alone here. A faithful CM'er, TeAch
  10. I'm fairly sure that this idea has been kicked around before but I would like to see a Combat Mission game with the same attention to detail but based at the squad level. Each soldier would be represented with individual attributes and battles taking place in close proximity. I know this game was derived from Squad Leader, but is there any desire amongst the troops here to see a version of CM at this level? TeAcH
  11. I went from a GF3 to a 9700 and I havent been happier. Not only does it smoke a GF4 to pieces in terms of frame rate and graphics but it is also optimized for DX9. My 9700 (non pro) is completely stable using Cat 3.6 and DX9b. Rock solid no problems. I also use XP pro on a MSI Delta K7N2 board. Im a happy camper. Bottom line, I am so very happy with ATI after being a GF user since day one. TeAcH [ August 03, 2003, 05:49 PM: Message edited by: TeAcH ]
  12. I play Operation Flashpoint, GTA3:Vice City, Panzer Elite, Medieval Total War (if anyone wants to play MTW in multiplayer call me on my icq 183078), America's Army and Battlefield 1942.
  13. Thanks for the answer Steve and thanks for bringing this game to us. It is still one of my all time favorites.
  14. I don't know if this was mentioned (didn't have time to wade through all of the 100+ posts) but is artillery affected by the type of ground it contacts? In other words, will arty do more damage to surrounding troops if it hits rocks or cement roads causing more flying debris as opposed to mud that would suck up and dampen some of the blast? TeAcH
  15. I dont want to trade salvos with you or anyone else for the matter. I'd rather just chat about a topic in a gentlemenly fashion. Anyway, take care. All is forgotten. Thanks Jarmo for the input. I think you were very accurate.
  16. Look. My only beef with you Bruno was that you waded in with a lame, one-sentenced, sarcastic remark not that you insulted me because my I thought my idea was golden and didn't want to hear from those that didn't agree. Whatever. [ December 09, 2002, 01:45 AM: Message edited by: TeAcH ]
  17. Thanks to you all who have constructive things to say that add to the discussion. As for you Bruno, your lame little cutesy remark added no value. And Im surprised that it came from you, someone about 50 years old according to your profile. I would have thought it more likely to have come from a juvenile. Why do knuckleheads wade into a discussion with nothing of value to add other than cheap little quips and remarks? Children. Hopefully the adult conversation here helps BTS with CM or any other game down the road if they ever decide a port to xbox or anywhere else.
  18. You are so witty. Ahem. (Bruno talking) "Umm me funny. Me funny lots. Watch this guys...'Put it on the Gameboy'. Uh huh huh. That was a good one. Me Bruno so funny and stuff like that I am.
  19. SuperSolo - I have and am a PC gamer. I have always been a PC gamer ever since I moved off of the Intellivision and Collecovision to the Amiga 500 and now to the PC. But, I recently got an Xbox a little while ago to play around on and the more I looked into the games being produced out there, the more I saw not only the volume of titles out there for consoles, but the amount of development, cinematics, and production values that seem to exist in that market. Plus - some of the games are F-U-N and they arent all platformers. I think I heard that the console market is a 7 billion dollar industry. Not only that, but Bill Gates, who some of you like to hate even though he pushed forward the OS that you play you CM on, has recently reportedly spent 1 billion of his money on Xbox Live (the multiplayer component of Xbox). Its hard (and old) to spend upwards of $300 to buy a high end graphics card for a PC or spend more than that for a CPU when you can get the whole XBOX, which is a great system (have you seen the graphics in Splinter Cell - No? - then hush) for only $199. Consoles are here whether or not some PC gamers want to admit it and there is a ton of money in that market PLUS some really great games (which is what it is all about anyway - games) out there being developed by some notable PC game designers. Shake your crotchedy old canes at the console all day and wheeze out the words "Damn meddling kids" but their appeal, production values, and $$$ cannot be denied. I now consider myself a PC/Console gamer with current emphasis on the PC side. Boy! Poor old me. Now I've got more games to play! Sheesh! There will come a time when strategy games will appear on consoles. Why not make that be the best strategy game out there - Combat Mission (with downloadable content and head to head play). Just my 2 cents.
  20. SuperSolo - Do you ever get the feeling like you are telling people, "Hey. The world isn't flat" and the masses are laughing and mocking you? I agree with you (although we are in the minority it seems). Some people are needlessly anti-console and although the camping 88's and tiger health packs were funny, XBOXs are not only owned by 15 year old kids. A lot of adults own them and they just might be looking for a title like this. Also, I did a search for the word XBOX before I started this thread and didnt see this particular issue "talked to death". I think that CM2 or even CM3 might do well on XBOX (not PS2 or GC) because of the capabilities of the XBOX (OS, Nvidia, Hard drive, etc) and because of the XBOX Live feature allowing head to head games with voice chat and downloadable content. People - not every game out for the XBOX is published by Microsoft. Only a few are. And the whole anti-microsoft script is tired (no I dont work at MS). 21. (Puts down bourbon bottle) Drinking? Who me?
  22. Hey BTS, port this baby over the XBOX. Whadya say? Throw in XBOX Live support and BTS fills a void in the console market with the only strategy game out there.
  23. Yeah I read in a book by Bill Manchester (I think that was his name) about Marine combat in the pacific and how they dreaded arty hitting the flat rocks as opposed to mud because the flying rock chunks greatly enhanced the damage to the troops. I would sure like to know for sure it this is in CMBB. Anyone? Bueller?
