  1. Its all fun and games until someone loses an eye! TeAcH ------------------ "Ah-ah, I know what you're thinking. Did he fire 6 shots or only 5. Well to tell you the truth in all this excitement I've kind of lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum - the most powerful hand gun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question, do I feel lucky. Well, do ya punk?"
  2. Well, this post begs the question "Is or will EAX be directly supported in CM 1.1 or CM2...?" TeAcH
  3. to Steve and Charles, As you can see by the number of posts, we offer this as a gesture of our support and thanks to you and your efforts. Thanks again and much success! Keep those posts coming gang. TeAcH
  4. Nice one! Thanks! TeAcH ------------------ "Ah-ah, I know what you're thinking. Did he fire 6 shots or only 5. Well to tell you the truth in all this excitement I've kind of lost track myself. 5. Thank you gents for ALL of your work. I have no hangups with handing over my cash to you for this fine ware. I hope and believe that you buys are gonna make it big. Thanks and well done TeAcH
  6. Okay, Combat Mission will most likely ship this week. We are all very close to having this game in our hands after all this time. Steve and Charles have put forth a great deal of effort in getting this title to our hard drives. Many hours of studying history, coding, creating manuals, patching, testing, designing, losing sleep, spending time away from their loved ones, responding to emails and messages on the forum with never-before-seen dedication, thorougness, and patience, etc, etc. etc. The list could go on and on and we are all truly grateful. As most of you are already aware, BTS has chosen to sell this game exclusively through their website for reasons I won't go into suffice it to say that it makes sense given the industry at hand. CM's success depends on us. CM is not a mainstream game. It's not a clone of whatever is "hot" in the industry. It is not a Close Combat ripoff, a Red Alert wannabe, or a cousin of Quake, nor is it something that has you going "Yawn..Ive seen that before except it was called X". It is a game that is targeted at a select audience..us. Now then, with all that in mind, it is paramount that we all make a pledge not to copy and distribute this game in any way, shape or form. For if anyone does, you will be contributing to the downfall of not only BTS and subsequent releases, but moreso to the dedication put forth by Steve and Charles over the last few years. I urge each and every one of you to resist any temptation to burn a copy for friends. Should you be faced with such a situtation, tell them instead that they need to buy it and tell them why. Somewhere out there, someone who doesn't have to pay for it is gonna zip it up, put their pirate banner on it, and distribute the hell out of it without so much as a penny going to Steve or Charles or their families. If that happens, and BTS doesn't make enough on this game to make CM2 and so on, we all hold you to blame. I hereby pledge that I will not allow the Combat Mission CD to be copied in any way or for CM to be installed on anyone else's computer but my own, and that I will ensure that no one who has access to my computer be allowed to transfer CM elsewhere, that if someone likes the game enough to want to play it and asks me for a copy even though providing it to them enables me to play them, that I will tell them how to contact BTS. Signed TeAcH For those of you that are interested in signing this online pledge, I welcome your name below. Thanks.
  7. I downloaded it and played it for about an hour. Then it got deleted. Im sure I would have enjoyed this game if I hadnt played CM. Nothing else compares. I cant even get into the whole top down perspective anymore ever since I was able to soar through the battlefield in CM. Thanks BTS! TeAcH ------------------ "Ah-ah, I know what you're thinking. 8. Anywhere between 1 to 4,239 times a day exactly but never more or less than that. TeAcH ------------------ As I see it, you gotta ask yourself a question...did he fire 5 shots or 6. And seeing that this is a .44 magnum, the world's most powerful handgun... [This message has been edited by TeAcH (edited 06-10-2000).]
  9. Wow Blackhorse....what a treat. I'm jealous only because I would have loved to have shook his hand and told him how much I respect and appreciate him. Anyone know where he is buried? TeAcH [This message has been edited by TeAcH (edited 06-10-2000).]
  10. What a great story. Makes me want to dig up some books of more stories like that one. Wow..stunning and real. Thanks for that post. 11. In addition to a Withdraw command (good idea Scott), what about having the Cease Fire command end that battle then both players would start over with a modified setup/placement phase of some sort with those troops regrouped into squads with a minor ammo replenishment/redistribution. Just a thought, TeAcH [This message has been edited by TeAcH (edited 06-10-2000).]
  12. BRAVO.....BRAVO....BRAVISIMO!!! HIP HIP HOORAY!! The mere fact that we as the gamers and ultimate end users get to talk to the designers and programmers throughout the game's development is simply unprecendented and purely wonderful. Thanks Steve and Charles for your time, sacrifice, and dedication to a wonderful product. On behalf of all of the gamers here, we wish you much success and hope that you all around for a long long time...way beyond CM 6!! TeAcH
  13. Von Shrad - I just wanted to post in agreement. It totally pisses me off when someone does to you what has been described here. I had one opponent pull a bull**** gamey tactic in Riesberg as the USA with some initial success until I reacted and things got ugly for him. Then, he stops sending emails, says he is out of time for awhile, and fades away. CRAP! Look, I can play to the last man and I will. If the situation is utterly hopeless and I have exhausted all hopes of a victory, then what I TRY to do is run my men off the edge of the map (my side) and save them. If I can't do that (Im encircled and panicked with just a few men left), I'll surrender. Please be honorable and stick it out. TeAcH [This message has been edited by TeAcH (edited 06-09-2000).]
  14. For those of you out there that don't know this, Matrix Games ( www.matrixgames.com ) is giving away this game for free. All you have to do is download it. It is a WW2 game with apparently some authenticity (dunno). So, two things: 1) Has anyone played? Is it any good? 2) If it is good, it might be something we can play to hold us over until CM comes out. TeAcH
  15. I see your point Juju. I guess I didn't understand how long units would be around and you make a good point that we arent likely to see award ceremonies between conflicts. Thanks TeAcH
  16. Wouldn't it be cool if you could give out medals to specific units after a battle (assuming you are playing a campaign of course). The game could determine what medals you have available based on the battle and give you a selection OR could just assign medals to specific units on its own. Your panther takes out 3-4 (or more) Allied tanks, the game give it a small medal of some kind that is either shown in the unit info at the bottom of the screen or in the KILLS box. Your rifle company kills a large number of infantry, perhaps a bronze or silver star is shown. Purple hearts would appear after a battle to a unit that had survivors in it. I think it would be a nice touch. I know this would not be high on the list of priorities if it was accepted, down the road as a patch or for CM2. Take care, TeAcH
  17. Pardon me if this was already discussed but I have a question about TCPIP and PBEM functionality. Will one battle be able to be played as a PBEM and then TCPIP then back to PBEM? The reason I ask is this: Let's say that I start a TCPIP game with a friend and we don't get to finish. Our schedules only allow us to PBEM over the following week. The next opportunity comes around and we are both online with time to play the battle out over TCPIP. See what I mean? Thanks TeAcH
  18. Pardon me if this has come up already. When TCPIP is added later on down the road, will I be able to convert a current PBEM game into a TCPIP? Thus, if me and my opponent are online one night and want to so some massive playing, then we can. Then lets say that we dont get the TCPIP game finished and decide to play it later OR play it over PBEM during the week until the weekend when we would resume it as a TCPIP game. I hope that makes sense. Thanks, TeAcH
  19. Thanks Steve! TeAcH PS. I think I got another two copies sold for you. Ya know...good ole word-of-mouth. Take care.
  20. Sure like to see Steve make his rounds and stop here for a brief comment. I know you're busy. Thanks TeAcH
  21. Cool J. I'll buy them off ya! Ambush and Purple heart that is? Email me d.teach@gte.net Thanks Doug
  22. I just started a CE PBEM game. I set up as Germans. I sent off my placement and my opponent made his. He sent the turn back and I did my moves. I sent. He sent action phase back. Around 55 seconds or so, I heard .50 cal fire but saw nothing. I zoomed around the map to see if I could "hear" where it was coming from as I saw no tracers nor sound contacts. Saw nothing BUT while I hovered near the crossroads closer towards the US starting point, and played the last 5 seconds back, I could hear the engines of the Shermans as if I was right on top of them. I shouldn't be able to do that right? I mean, I had no sound contact markers and no units close. TeAcH [This message has been edited by TeAcH (edited 06-05-2000).]
  23. Thanks for the reply. Okay, I can see your point on #2, but on #1, ammo sounds like the main thing weighing the squad down (according to a discussion in another debate. So, I disagree with you on that one. Thanks TeAcH
