  1. My experience is the same as yours Waaarg. In 1.30, there were no launchers in the Marders, though the PzGren squads had them. Now in 1.31, there are no launchers in the Marders(same) or with the PzGren squads(changed).
  2. Well, the nVidia fix is very appreciated I must say, thank you!
  3. True, there are a whole host of user requests put forth for BFC's consideration, but triggers would be an integral part of the game experience and probably why they have been asked for since the beginning. I hope the beta-testers/scenario gurus have been pushing for these also!
  4. Try disabling ZoneAlarm before installing and running. I seem to recall people having similar issues with that program.
  5. Well if Panzer Command Kharkov is anything to go by, there was no TacAI to speak of (when viewing from a CM perspective) so having variable turn limits wouldn't make any difference. I think having 'epic 5000 point battles like back in the CMBB days' may not be a viable option as the new engine seems a tad more sophisticated and technically demanding.
  6. No, they got that reputation due to the design of the ammunition stowage not because of using petrol engines. The Panther's compact engine compartment was designed to be watertight making it prone to overheating and catching fire early on in its production. As far as a I know the Panther was not susceptible to 'brewing up' as the Shermans.
  7. CMBB and CMAK both run fine on my Win7 Home(32 bit) laptop and my Win7 Pro(64 bit) home computer. When running Vista, neither would work without the patches. In my circle of gaming partners I have not heard any different. Conspiracy theories and cereal boxes are tied at the hip!
  8. You actually get your information from the back of cereal boxes? Do you really believe that?? (Psst, don't let BFC know but CMBB and CMAK work great on Win7 even without the patches) Hmm, I think I can see the connection there. Well actually not really, but I thought it might be kind of lonely where you are and you may appreciate a bit of company. Cheers.
  9. Hmm, to say artillery is useless against defenders in buildings is quite the hyperbole. I have entered rubble immediately after arty has collasped two story buildings to find several dead bodies therein, and I have caught them on the flank retreating from said buildings also. I can't say I have seen against-all-odds survivors, yet! Perhaps good order enemies are moving into the rubble?
  10. Yeah as Pandur says, it is known movement behaviour. I don't know why they 'hug' the action spot edge instead of going straight across, myself I've just been working with that limitation and it isn't usually a problem. To minimize the exposure along the 'edge' you can issue a waypoint to the road first then to the building and they behave a little better in this regard.
  11. Agreed, options to turn them on/off are best.
  12. NO, no command lines ala CMx1! They are ugly and add unnecessary clutter to the UI. Using the floating Icons is a much better option imo.
  13. I just finished watching the first mission, good stuff. Thanks for putting it out there. SPOILER . . . . . . . Having played the battle already, I have to admit I visibly cringed when I saw you advance with the Leo as you did!
  14. Well, there is a bit of an adjustment coming from CMAK/CMBB to CMSF, let alone taking into account modern weaponry. I would start with some of the small scenarios first and read some of the stickies in the Tactics forum before tackling a Campaign, which are not all wide open desert spaces by the way.
  15. Haha! Cool, that was very well done. I wasn't too anxious for NATO, still knee-deep playing CM:A, but this clip has piqued my interest a LOT.
  16. This reminded me of something else - SMOKELESS powder and will it be simulated in CM Normandy?
  17. Pretty cool video George MC, love seeing the AI T-62s roll into the Leopards like that, thanks! I too thought initially the map was much larger.
  18. Yeah I think if I had waited a whole two weeks for a $50 game just to watch it crash, the very first thing I would do is come on to the developer's site and whine about the licensing and having two passwords, seems productive. As a customer who has bought Battlefront, and previously Big Time Software, products for well over ten years now, my experience has been the polar opposite, but then again requiring two passwords doesn't throw me into a tizzy either.
  19. It's a little ironic to brush something off as more of the same then follow it up with the statement that you prefer it over modern!. Of course it is the same engine under the hood, with the same 'game mechanics' further refined in this iteration. I believe that was the whole intent of going forward with this engine - you will see this engine again, contrary to the ramblings in NeverNever Land. The 'feel' is different because of the weapons systems, squad/platoon organization and vehicle hardware, among other factors. I have played Red vs Red in CMSF as well; there are similarities but it is not the same. CMA feels and plays different in a very tangible way, further commented on by others here. I played the Counter Ambush scenario for the second time last night and still had a blast using 'meat and potato' tactics to overcome the Muj. In a pbem of Desperate Crossing, and I am opening my turns with a sense of trepidation I can't recall having since the early days of CM. If Normandy is this times X then whoa!
  20. This is an excellent documentary, Afghantsi , very brutal and honest commentary. It used to be freely available online, not sure now, but here is a short clip
  21. I have not seen any firing through walls without doors or windows either, though I have noticed the LOS through walls with just one window or door is kind of broad. I don't have a problem with the abstraction as long as there are appropriate penalties. Personally I would rather not see this: "At present we don't have the soldiers dance around, back and forth, taking shots out of the openings. That's something we will probably get around to adding, even though it's pretty much a visual thing and not that likely to change game results." and just stick with the abstraction. I have noticed that the Mosque in the demo battle and campaign does have some irregularities with the two adjoining sections. You can enter from there when you clearly shouldn't. The more I play the more I like the setting and scenarios.
  22. +1! Yes this took me by suprise also. It plays very different, in a good way. I'm not sure about the original CMBO days, but I did stay up until about 1am last night playing and that is rare nowadays Well done and thanks.
  23. Nope, watched it and thought 'Wow, Hezbollah promotional video - and the screw turns'. To the OP. I don't know, BFC is still the only game in town as far as I can see. Sure, it's a game and it isn't perfect, I have some pet peeves too, but if you can point me to another game that does more, hell even as much, I would like to know about it. Give BFC some credit, I'm sure they are doing what they can, where they can.
