There are always ways to get the domain you like. Combat-mission.com does NOT exist (just add the "-"). Anyway, my site won't be called CM/Combat Mission or anything. Some reasons why: 1) I think it's unfair to BTS to register the name without their permission. 2) You have to use the name for 2 years. I might add a CM2 site later or even other wargames (maybe even sims like PE). Using CM as domainname wouldn't be appropriate then. 3) They are not free. Having to fork out lotsa money only to register some .net or org. domains is a waste of money (most people only check .com) PeterNZ: There are some programs to record CM as 1 movie. I use them myself. I will write them down (mention some good/bad points) and post them, here or sent them to you. PanzerShark

Sure can. There are multiple ways to do so. 1)Press "print screen" and then paste it into a paint-proggie 2)Use a "screengrabber-proggie". There are some great ones ready for download but i prefer "Hyperionics'Hypersnap DX" and "Snag-it" With the proggies you can "grab" multiple shots without having to alt-tab out of the game to paste. 1) Consoles will NEVER replace PC's. (and Mac's...sorry Why? Try editing levels/graphics/sounds/movies on a console. Try to create a hd big enough to support all my files. Try to make a controller as handy as the mouse/keyboard-combo. Yes you will succeed in doing so, but what will you end up with...a pc/mac with funky colors . So no need to worry here. 2)If you don't think CM is worth the wait...don't. Some people are waiting for Diablo 2..is it out yet? NO. Will it be delayed again? SURE. No game is released on time, and if they are they are as bugged as hell (most of the time). 3)There will always be wargames like (or much like CM) becuase there are people enjoying them. This means money for developers...this means a reason to create such game. 4)CM is setting such high standards for future wargaming that it "is allowed" to take it's time before it's finished. Take Diablo 2 again. Do you think it will be groundbreaking? No, it will be the same as part 1 but slightly bigger and cleaner graphics. Still people are saving their money, won't purchase another game because of this, and enjoy the game when it's finally released. 5)If you are really such an expert on this subject you should be able to make an almost correct guess on how many CM's will ship when it's done. Post it here and let's see how well you really know this buyer-developer-delaying thing. Although it will be different, there's also a Quake 3 Fortress comming. Maybe the graphics are less or the team-work, but you can't beat Q3 for it's great online-playing (meaning that even with a ping like 500 it's still VERY smooth. Maybe something to keep busy until CM/TF@ is released.

Hiya Newbie , Here are some answers, hope they are correct. 1)You won't be able to buy CM in a store, only online. This means the BPJS won't notice a darn thing. Also, CM will have no box (moneysaving) and there won't be dead bodies (because of the framerate). No probs here then. 2)There is no other CM so far then this one. There's been much talking about a vol. 2. please search the board. Yes the BETA-demo with the 3 scenario's is all there is for us yet. There will be a gold-demo when the game is ready. 3)There's no release-date, but prolly this year A lot of people are still playing the demo, including me, others build websites (see my topic "FREE FREE FREE"), some create "tweaks" for the demo and there are those that play other games or have a social life 4)Yhey MIGHT implement TCP/IP, not sure what is decided. 5)The units will attack a thread more dangerous then the one you think might be. Maybe the LOS was not good enough (bad hit-chance), maybe the inf. had bazoo's, maybe he just didn't feel like it . Or it was the AI having a bad day. Remember we are talking beta here...as i understood from Steve/Charles the AI is much MUCH better now and it will therefore kick our butt soon Hope this helps. PanzerShark

We will get an update when BTS is ready to do so. If they are not ready, don't bother asking. Patience is a virtue. In the meantime, do other things, edit textures, build websites, create your first scenario on paper and so on and so on. Sure, i would like an update too, but if we don't get any, BTS prolly have nothing "intersting" to mention, so let them be. (i don't need an update featuring: "today we got rid of bug X, yesterday of tweak Y, and we draw a texture for model G).

Well, there were ofcourse numerous factors why certain things went different. 1)In Russia the Germans were "advancing" not defending. 2)Instead of "only" the east, Germany had to defend 360 degrees...meaning splitting up armies. 3)Very different scenery and weather in Europe. 4)Less industry, less equipment (Axis) 5)Younger soldiers and maybe less "elite" ones. There are actually a million factors that could cause this. Although it's both WW2, i think you can say that the "Eastern" and "Western" front are two totally different wars.

Although the space is great, i think the idea of having your own messageboard (UBB....like this one), your own sub-domain, your own e-mail, live-chat...and more is what it makes a fun idea (especially since you don't see any banners/pop-ups/delays etc). I think it's great that you have some cool CM-sites at the ready at this place, without having to type or remember the url al the time There's room for about 25 sites (10mb per site...which is a lot).

Mmm forgot to mention 1 thing: The server is settled in the US. This might be good news to all you Yankees . People from Europe do not need to worry since the connection to the server is fast.

And to end this thread i would like to take the opportunity to explain some rules (for the people who already mailed me...i'll reply tonight or tomorrow). 1) It MUST be CM-related 2) You MUST put a gif/banner on it linking to Battlefront and CMHQ. 3) No advertising or moneymaking banners. 4) Ofcourse NO warez/mp3z and/or XXX 5) A regular update...meaning once every 2 weeks or preffereably more. Some points need to be addressed (like point 2), and keep in mind this is a FAN-site. This means NO copyrighted material from CM or opening CM pages in your frames. That's all

Another thing. Since it's a very big site (over 300mb) i also have multiple sub-domain names i can provide. So if my domain is www.test.com my sub-domain could be PanzerShark.test.com Same goes for the mail.

In a few days i get my own webspace and domain name Anyway, i kinda misjudged the size i needed so i have plenty left. Here's the idea: Everybody interested in building a CM website can get some room on this web. Ofcourse it's free, you will have no pop-ups and you can use MY domainname as address (the mainpage will have all the links). Ofcourse you could also use a redirect url. Since i'm paying for the space you don't have many problems some free-hosts have like slow-conn, banners etc. Tell me if you're interested, and post it here. PanzerShark ps. Not sure how many replies will take place but if there are too many, please make sure your page is viewable. That way i can decide (with some CM-veterans..Steve/Charles/Fionn/MadMatt maybe) which sites have something to add

Lorak, your ideas and page is very nice, it's just i had some bad experience with Yahoo. Because of this i don't want anything on my pc that has anything to do with it. It has nothing to do with your site. Keep on going, it's great to see more CM-pages then just 1 or 2. PanzerShark
