Stuka, Qres should only start working when pressing a hyperlink. You might want to turn your desktop back to normal using the display-properties (right-click on desktop, go to properties, change the res and colordepth to what you want, press oke). When you create a hyperlink and change the settings in the Qres-tab, make sure Qres turns your default-settings back after closing the program (in this case CM). This is an option in the Qres-tab, which you can find by pressing right-mouse on the hyperlink, go to Qres, and change the settings. Hope this helps.

Oke, if you don't like my stairs-trick ( ), then i would suggest you just leave them alone and hope they know how to throw grenades. If one squad can keep 2 busy for some time, then you'll prolly have enoough time to sent reinforcements. If your "backup" is to far away then your squad didn't die in vain...no they kept 2 full squads busy giving the rest of the army enough time to do their job. It's rather difficult to give a real answer though. There is som much to take into acount. Morale, health, veteran and so on. But before rambling on and on....i would leave them alone, pray, and remember it was all needed

Or, if there's a 2nd floor, go upstairs and make the two attackers climb the stairs. Believe me, a MG, grenades, stairs and two full squads do not go well together

Frey, when playing in such res. you probably DON'T want to change the res. Many people though, including me, have their desktop set to 800x600. When we launch CM, it will be played in 800x600 too since it can only use your desktop setting or lower. This program can make CM run in 1024x768 (or higher) without the need to change your desktop manually all the time. It's a program ment for lazy people i guess

There are same programs on the net that record "what's on your screen" and record it to an avi/mpg-file (Hypercam for example). Downfall ofcourse is that yuo can't rotate cameras, select different units AND got 1 big whoppin' avi file sitting on your hd But i used it once and it did work well.

Yes i am using it myself but (when using a pc) you should get rid of the pref.-file. Start CM and, if aplied corectly, CM will ask if you want to use the setting you gave Qres to use. Simply answer yes and VAVVOOOMM...or something

any people like to play CM in 1024x768 or higher, but don't like the fuzz around it. Well NO MORE i say Download the program calld Qres (was a feature of w95) and install it. Now create a shortcut to CM.exe and go to it's properties. Select the tab "qres", turn it on, choose you wanted res of the game AND your desktop when quitting, and you're all set. Although i prefer my rpg's to have more stats and things to do, i'll prolly buy it since Diablo had some great moments. I fear however that i won't play it anymore after 1 month. (can you say overhyped?)

First i like to let everyone know i just received CM (Netherlands), and to use General Cartman Lee's own words: "I have the CM-full version...you may touch me". Second, ehm...can't tell you yet but its going to be one great weekend And third but MOST important i would like to thank Wild Bill. Many people are thanking BTS and there is (thank God) nothing wrong with that, but i think it's time someone mentioned and thanked WBW for all his great work. For many people SP is dead since the arrival of CM and to a certain degree i can see why. I however have ALWAYS supported SP and always will since, imho, it is, or was to many, the only wargame worth mentioning. Yes we had Talonsoft and it's games and many more BUT SP has always given me the much needed wargame-drug that most could not. Also, after reading the manual which i never do, i noticed that many (if not 90%) of the CM-battles are created by WBW and we all know how good these are Therefore: WBW we salute you and i hope your knowledge and support to the wargame-community will never stop. I like the idea but: 1)people that really enjoy the game will buy a copy...not rip it. 2)people that do use a ripped-version won't play PBEM since they obviously don't like the game enough to buy it. 3)What IF someone has a ripped version? Only punishment he gets s not being able to play with the people who ask these questions. They will always find another one. Manta, i like your idea, but i think it doesn't wotk well. Ofcourse the tournaments held on sites could use your idea. That way no pirate can participate in these. just my 2 shells

I have a friend who had the same problem with another game but WITH an Ati. He solved it by shutting down his Cahce-memory. This i will not recommend since your p450 will turn into a 486 You also might try to go to your video-settings and lower your accelaration. * right-click on desktop * choose properties * choose the tab "settings" then "advanced" * choose the tab between "monitor" and "colors" (it's called "prestaties" in dutch..not sure what that one is in english * and lower the setting If that doesn't work you might run directx-config. * goto your directx-folder (usually it's in c:\program files\directx) * run dxdiag.exe * you'll see a new menu * first check the directx files and try to make most of them "certified" by using the latest drivers. * then go to "monitor-settings" and make sure that d3d/directdraw is turned on. You can do this by wearing tight leather unde...DAMN i mean just use the button next to it * You can also test your 3d settings here by pressing the test-button to the far right. That's all i can think off right now, let me know if it works. Superted, mind i remind you, beforee things go horribly wrong, that the handgrenades carried by your troops are NOT...i repeat NOT, Holy handgrenades of Antioch. Also Tim the Enchanter died the other day while assaulting a heavily fortified castle (died when a cow fell on him). So he won't be there to assist you. About your " real" problem: What videocard are ya using and which drivers?
