Michael Emrys got a reaction from Boo Radley in A-10?????
Typical that that would be what your imagination would turn to first. Given that the web is what it is, there is probably a site devoted to...that kind of thing. Somewhere else.

Point of order: I believe it would be correct to say that he is deeply ignorant.

It's the thought that counts. It would have all melted by now anyway.

I would second that...don't know why I forgot it in my original post. Cassino may be starting to show its age a little bit around the edges, but it's still an excellent read.

There is Rick Atkinson's The Day of Battle. It is an overview, but also detailed in places.
Carlo D'Este has written two very good books: Bitter Victory is about the Sicilian Campaign and Fatal Decision is about Anzio and the battle for Rome.
Martin Blumenson has written extensively about Sicily and the battles on the Italian mainland. I've read one of those, Sicily, Whose Victory?. Another which I have not personally read but might be the kind of thing you are looking for is Salerno to Cassino.
I haven't read much by British historians about Italy, so I won't try to make recommendations.

I do this a lot too. It's especially useful in wooded areas.

Cute. But why are the Germans shown smoking filter cigarettes? As I recall, those weren't introduced for another decade.

...Who served in a variety of jobs and did them well. Personally, I am in particular admiration of those ladies who flew airplanes of all sizes and complexity to assigned destinations, even across oceans.

Can't resist a correction. The actual lines go:
Double double toil and trouble
Fire burn and cauldron bubble
I along with the rest of my English class had to recite those lines and we really got into it.

I think in light of all that has gone down in the last few decades that that quote needs to be changed: "The proper study of mankind is woman."

Well you know how hidebound the British are about traditions. They couldn't completely let go of them.

It seems to have had its origins in naval canons during the Age of Sail. Perhaps it was easier to accurately cast canon balls by weight than by diameter. The same system of measurement was also used for army canon, although these were by and large much smaller and lighter. I suppose on land portability was valued above the ability to smash down walls after the end of the 17th. century or thereabouts.

I don't think that is an accurate description of what goes on. Plenty of criticisms get voiced—including my on—without the voicer getting labeled as anything but an interested party. The only people I see getting treated as trolls are those who are either wildly emoting or so sloppy that they don't know how to present a reasonable criticism. Some people seem to have very tender egos and expect any idea that they present to be greeted as handed down engraved on stone tablets and become offended if instead that all the mistakes in their own thinking are pointed out to them. That experience is apt to be especially harsh if all those errors are things they should have thought of themselves if they had just been willing to consider the matter from any point of view other than their own.

Guy sounds like he has only a vague notion of what went on in the war. Lame. Has no business setting up a website proposing to educate when he himself is so poorly informed.

I'm not clear on something. I decided to have a look at this to see what I could make of it, but I couldn't find anything that matched your description. There are two training campaigns, one basic set in Bizerte, and a second advanced one set on Sicily. Can you tell me which one you are attempting and which scenario?

In WW II there was nothing remotely like the real time imaging that we have today. There was indeed a lot of photo recon, but it was usually something on the order of 24 hours before that intelligence filtered down to the level of army and corps command. Forget about it reaching as far down the chain of command as battalion and for companies (the level that CM was designed to modeled)...they could only dream.
