  1. I haven't so far. I kinda doubt that it's in. BTW, firing WP will usually encourage the Germans to bug out. They don't like it. Michael
  2. Don't let it go to your head. We have other gripes...as always. Michael
  3. No, actually that was quite clear. Thanks. Michael
  4. Thanks for reminding me of that term, YD. Given how long it has been around and its wide spread general application, I'd suggest that it is the term of art for the phenomenon of interest, even allowing that it is somewhat colloquial. Michael
  5. Yeah. It would be an exaggeration to describe the manual as a disaster; it's far from that. But I wouldn't feel comfortable describing it as adequate either. I understand some of the difficulty involved in putting together a manual dealing with a product that is evolving right up until the moment it is released (and after as well), especially if it has to be done by an employee who has other duties to attend. To some extent it is the inevitable victim of the small size of the company that makes it. But since an online version exists, would it not be possible to release revisions at frequent intervals as problems emerge? Just a thought... Michael
  6. Also, are there any smoke shells left? I think they only start out with five and can run through them in a single turn. Michael
  7. Oh what a pity. And here I was, all ready to send you a sealed bag of my next vomit. FedEx too. Michael
  8. Were you trying to say something? Maybe there's a clinic somewhere that could teach you remedial English and that would help. Why don't you go away and study for 20 years. Or just go away. Michael
  9. And note that those 40,00 aren't likely to be making many big ticket purchases in the foreseeable future either, so there's one more nick in the general economy. Michael
  10. Gee, you'd think she would have learned by now... Michael
  11. Good lord! They weren't even trying to get it right! Michael
  12. Europeans woke up some time ago to the realization they really cannot afford any more of the fratricidal wars they had indulged in for the previous millennium or two. Empires had been tried as a form of unification and shown not to work. So now they are trying a different approach. Maybe this will work and maybe it won't for any of a thousand reasons, but I say let them give it a chance. Whatever mess they cook up will almost certainly be better than World War III. Michael
  13. You're only getting started. I had to build a loft in my bedroom to hold my bookcases. But then, I've probably been at it longer than you. I don't recall anyone in this thread claiming that books are the gospel. A fair number are crap, and there are more every year. That's why it is good to have read widely and critically so that you can make informed judgements and weed out the crap. The thing about docos is that the relative amount of misinformation is a lot higher in them. I've noticed that most of the time someone shows up on the web spouting what I know to be nonsense, however innocently, their source has been something they saw on tv. I don't know about you, but that tells me something. Michael
  14. Then I guess you and I must disagree. Prearranged it certainly was, but then so was a lot of the language used on telecom devices. Those prearranged flare signals couldn't really equal radios, no argument there. Nevertheless, the information those signals conveyed was critical and a hell of a lot better than nothing. Michael
  15. Both the German and Soviet armies used flare guns (Very pistols) a lot for signaling too. The Germans used whistles a great deal at the platoon level, but that is covered by the verbal icon in the squad C2 panel. Michael
  16. In open fields fog will tend to make the grass damp but not do much to the underlying soil unless it is a real pea soup lasting more than a few hours. Under trees can be a different matter as the fog will condense on the leaves/needles and drip onto the ground below. I expect that in Normandy during the month depicted, morning mist would not have effected ground conditions much unless it had rained heavily during one or more of the immediately preceding days. Michael
  17. You're assuming that he has any, which strikes me as rash. BTW, your spelling is execrable. Michael
  18. Most German radios were in vehicles of one sort or another. I confess I have never even seen a pic of a man-portable one. Michael
  19. Hard to say. Organic farming had not become such a fad back then. On the other hand, the vast bulk of it, especially in under-developed countries—such as where tea was grown—tended to be pretty organic anyway. Michael
  20. It's just that you always remind one of that region somehow. Michael
  21. That's being worked on and should be ready for release around the year 3001. Provided of course that the human race is still around. Michael
  22. This was all argued out way back in CM1 days. Several artillery experts weighed in on how the artillery in that game was very unrealistic and provided examples of what was actually standard practice. The present system, while not precisely as I recall their descriptions, is nevertheless a great deal closer. I wouldn't doubt that it could use yet more improvement, but I for one am counting my blessings. Michael
  23. Taken from the History Channel, I presume? Anyway, sounds like their kind of production. Michael
