  1. Now that's entirely possible. I am open to the thought that 14 years ago not even BFC was entirely immune to "German rapture". Michael
  2. The saddest thing about a matchup between House rune and House Shaw is that one of them will win. Michael
  3. If they did so, I would expect that they did so unconsciously as Steve has sworn up and down on several occasions that they do not "design for effect". Michael
  4. I ran a test on this and it turns out that you are correct. Congratulations. Michael
  5. I do wonder however how vulnerable optics are to being knocked out of alignment even when not damaged. This might be what is represented by progressive accumulation of damage. Michael
  6. It sure as hell is. Do you think it is an external combustion engine??? But it is not a piston engine, and if the rules specify that... That's true. High subsonic speeds are possible however. The Tu-95MS has a maximum speed of 575 mph. Michael
  7. Seems like the cure for that is to redraw the VL so that it lies entirely within the walls, assuming that there is enough room within the walls for that. Michael
  8. Plus those old tube radios were far from shock proof. Michael
  9. How about turboprops? Would those be a practical alternative for racing? Granted, they wouldn't sound as fierce... Michael
  10. Which is what led me to wonder why there is relatively so little in the unlimited class. Michael
  11. See, the thing is that crews do not appear as a unit separate from their vehicle until after they have dismounted (or bailed). Michael
  12. And in a current game I am playing, I was unable to give a move command to the crew of a jeep until after the turn that they had dismounted. Michael
  13. On the other hand (there is always another hand ), unexpected snags can and probably will crop up to throw the development timeline off-schedule. Hopefully, not by a lot, but you know what they say about the best-laid plans (as well as the best-planned lays ). Michael
  14. Actually, my estimate was on the optimistic side. I didn't want to discourage anybody. A darker view could easily put it four to five years out. I doubt that BFC would opt to keep the East Front aficionados on ice that long though. Michael
  15. What I wonder is why no one has come along with an all-new from the ground up purpose-built unlimited racer, since the warbirds are so heavily modified anyway. Between the wars, the races were the laboratories of innovative design work in high performance aeronautics. Although improvements in subsonic aerodynamics may be minor by now, there are new materials and avionic technologies available. And what about newer power plants? Michael
  16. Safer guess might be two to three years from now. We still have to get through three modules of BfN, then the Bulge game and its modules before we can expect to get to Russia (and the other Soviet republics). And likely mixed in there somewhere will be the updated version of CMSF and whatever modules will be attached to it. In other words, holding your breath is not advised. Michael
  17. In WEGO there doesn't seem to be a way to assign movement orders to crews in the same turn that they dismount. Passengers, yes; crews no. One hopes to see that changed some time in the future. Michael
  18. Actually, more like a pus pocket. A boil in need of lancing. Michael
  19. I've noticed that the presence or lack of it of AFVs on the objective weighs heavily. In one playing of TF Raff I called for ceasefire and the victory screen didn't show me as controlling the objective. So I went back and drove a Sherman onto it without changing anything else. Then I was awarded the objective. Michael
  20. Also in both versions by many Native American tribes, especially in the US Southwest. Michael
  21. Bingo. Militarily, you haven't really taken an objective if it is unusable due to enemy fire on it. How much enemy fire? Well, a stray bullet from the other side of the hill wouldn't do it, but an MG laying down direct fire from 100 m would. So the answer would be, it depends. I have no idea if BFC has tried to design this in. Quite possibly it's one of those things so hard to define in terms that the basic game engine can work with that they wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. But to say that the concept is ridiculous is just wrong. Michael
  22. I've always proceeded on the assumption that you had to not only (a) have units on the location and ( have cleared it of enemy units, but that you also © had to remove or at least suppress any enemy units that might put effective fire onto to it. © is not an official pronouncement so far as I know, but it seemed reasonable to me, so I have always tried to accomplish it. Michael
