  1. Okay, so just to be clear for the sake of players less astute (like me), these changes were made in the editor, right? Michael
  2. That sort of looks like it...but I have no mods installed, so it would have to have been part of the standard BFC repertoire. I have to concede now that I think about it, that it might not have been in a game I was playing, but in a screenshot of a game some other player had posted in the Forum. It's been three years or more, with the emphasis on 'more'. Michael
  3. Hmmm. I could swear that I've seen sunflowers, probably in CMBS. Michael
  4. I use SLOW a lot instead of HUNT in situations where I don't want the vehicle to come to a complete halt for the entire rest of the turn. They seem to spot and shoot about as well as if they come to a complete halt, and they don't become completely sitting ducks. Michael
  5. Sappers with demo charges seem to me to offer the best chance of hitting the exact spot, but you will need some way to protect them while they approach the wire. Smoke and covering fire come to mind. Michael
  6. About a dozen years ago I had a book that detailed the ops of various Jedburgh teams all over France. I think it might have been a translation from French. Sadly, it was one of the scores of good and interesting books I had to give up a few years ago, and I do not even recall the title. However, if there is interest, I will search around and see if anything rings a bell. Michael
  7. It also goes a long way towards expressing the extent to which Europe has been divided into lots of really small countries claiming some degree of sovereignty. To get an even better idea, take a look at EU2 some time where there is a plethora of duchies and baronies and other assorted ganglands. Michael
  8. They recover quickest if simply left in place. Of course, that might not be practical if spotting rounds are creeping closer. Michael
  9. Aha! Thank you, domfluff. You're really on a roll tonight. Michael
  10. Rather eccentric behavior, wouldn't you say? I wonder what his purpose was in doing that. Was it so he could claim that he did in fact manage to shoot something? Michael
  11. Reading this thread reminds me of the indestructible Kubelwagen that I encountered in the scenario "Out on a Limb". Although struck perhaps by a hundred or two bullets fired at close range from various angles, no harm befell it until the driver tried to dismount, a fatal mistake. I also recall seeing quite a number of photos of Jeeps with their windshields folded down. Now I wonder if that was to avoid flying shards of glass. It also occurs to me that folding it down would also avoid a shiny reflection to a possible observer. Michael
  12. Thank you, I will. But telecommunications are definitely the medium for the spreading of this particular social disease.
  13. Yes, though not to the extent you present here. How far they spread may be dependent on terrain; I notice that in this example they are on open terrain with no cover or concealment. In closer terrain, like forests, they stay closer together. This may have something to do with ease of communication between the teams. Oh, and BTW, I agree wholeheartedly with what Warts says about 'to' and 'too' along with the many other barbarisms that have become common since the rise of popular telecommunications. Michael
  14. It wouldn't play on my machine. Where was it found? Michael
  15. I don't know, but I have some ideas for wonderful employment opportunities for her. Michael
  16. That would be my suggestion, especially if as you say, "... it tends to make softer sounds louder and the loud sounds stay loud." Why not tone down the whole mess? Michael
  17. I recall several years back that someone said that no 76mm Shermans were sent to Italy. They were all sent to the ETO. Do you reckon that my source might have been talking out his hinder parts? Michael
  18. Go ahead and presume away. Your guess is as good as anybody's, including the folks at BFC I expect. Michael
  19. It may be more believable if you reflect on however many of those are from artillery short rounds and the like. Still, it sounds a bit high to me too. Michael
  20. And I would have a concern that naïve users might pop it at a depth that if yanked from too quickly could cause the bends. Michael
  21. Shot deflectors—as they were called—were not a completely uncommon feature on some WW II tanks as can be seen on the pictures of Valentines on this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentine_tank. As they were used all through the war and later, they must have been thought to be of some value. Michael
  22. Now if we can just get fraternization with the fräuleins included. I guarantee a dramatic increase in sales. Michael
  23. I have seen something which may or may not be related. Sometimes I get a spotted marker on an enemy unit. Then, during the command phase I click on it to see who among my own units is spotting the enemy. If I go to my own unit to give it a fire command, I get the message that there is no LOS. It's not a case of a grey line, it's no LOS/LOF whatsoever. I don't know what to make of this to me very puzzling situation. As I say, I don't know if it has any connection to what Bulletpoint is reporting or not. Furthermore, I can't say if it is a bug or simply something that turns up now and then that the designers decided to leave in. It doesn't strike me as something that real life soldiers would never do, which is why I never brought it up before. Michael
