1.
quote:
French = what do you think i am? some white flag raising freak? Wouldn't have wanted to be Jack squat

Well... If that's what you really think, I won't even try to argue...
 2. I am to turn 20 on May 10th, and get my BA in History, with a particular interest in WWII. Well, I'm not here by chance, am I ? Jeff, I was looking forward to offering you something for your recent wedding, but if you prefer something for your birthday then I'll gladly wait
 3.
quote:
That's a good point. Might have to publish the commentary with the video so people can read what is being said. Subtitles, although doable, might just end up hard to read, although if we got enough requests after release we might be able to make a subtitled version.

Well, if you need assistance for french commentary I might be of some help, just contact me. Compassion,
quote:
I have cd's of all of these and can upload mp3's if you want to take a look.

I'd definitely love to here those ! Regards, Magnus
 4. Another vote for FOW ON. Otherwise battling is without interest, isn't it ? Regards, Magnus
 5. Well, apart from the gun, I'm also surprised that the two variants get the same engine : wasn't the IV J supposed to have a Maybach HL120TRM112, featuring 272 horsepower, a less powerful version of the HL120TR/TRM of the IV H ? Regards, Magnus
 6. I see there are many people going to make scenarios here. So, why not help ourselves in scenario design ? I'm sure for historical scenarios that gathering knowledge would be an interesting idea. One can have the informations about the ground, the others about the OB.... What about building a sub-section in CMHQ called "scenarios in progress", that would list all the scenarios beeing made, show which help is needed, and prevent something from beeing done twice ? Just my two pences, maybe it's a dumb idea but I had the idea some times ago and was about to forget it... Regards, Magnus
 7.
quote:
I've gone over this dozens of times from both sides and have no idea what happened. The INSTANT the bullet hits the tank the commander buttons and the gun is damaged. I wouldn't be surprised if there was another explanation, I just don't know what it is

I would also be pleased to know the explanation In my game there was no faust at range, no AT gun with LOS, etc... I heard a sniper firing and my TC was dead, my gun damaged. I just can't see what happened... If it is FOW then it really is awesome
 8.
quote:
I had a Sherman's main gun taken out by a sniper rifle

Same here, find it a little weird During the turn I'm sure there was no AT gun nor panzerfaust firing. The same shot also took one crewman. Any advice ? Magnus
 9. ( to Jeff ) You feel that they are not really enthusiastic about CM ? I found their articles quite laudatory... Nevertheless, you're right : they certainly are less enthusiastic than us !
 10. The demo was also on the CD of Cybersratege, one month ago... I assume BTS was aware of this ?
 11. As Berlichtingen, I think that improved graphics will give the game better reviews, that is to say more copies sold.
quote:
I love eye candy but now my computer probably can't handle the new smoke so I'd like them to release now.

I personnaly think it is important to give some extras, because hardware evolve rapidly and these extras give the game a better life expectancy. And I must say the new smoke effects are really pretty ! They rise immersion, so they are a welcome addition. In a nutshell, I want the game to be released as everybody here, but I think some weeks of polishing might prove worth the cost. Just my two pence... Regards, Magnus
 12. CCJ, the tower looks pretty good if you are simulating german edifices. But I have some doubts about the base... What is sure is that the core and the tower can't go together. BTW I keep wondering why the tower is standing in the middle of the "church" !
 13. Magnus present, and eager to start CMHQ-French ! Let us all unify under CM's banner ! The more we'll be, the better the game will be... Our dear Beta-testers have been working a lot for us to enjoy the best wargame ever, so let's help them ! Regards, Magnus
 14. CC4 and AOE2.... What the hell do they consider as "wargames" ! Another vote for SpWWII... Na!
 15. Hehe, in fact Xavier and I are already in contact to make the site in cooperation. A good occasion to say again to each french speaking one on the board, that they can help us. If you're interested by website designing, scenarios, historical articles or whatever you think would be of interest, please Email me or Xavier. Also, we would be particulary glad to have a little support from Cyberstratege . Regards, Olivier ( Magnus, preparing to spread BTS's flag all over the world )
 16. Really interesting Andreas. I like soldiers' stories as they show us the war from a human viewpoint. Please keep on informaing us Regards, Magnus
 17. Heya all, Maybe I should clarify here :
quote:
(... ) french translations to various CM-related articles or to parts of the manual

I had never thought about translating the whole manual because : * It would take me a year of work and that's enough a reason * It would never be printed for obvious reasons so it would have to be posted online, and we all know it would be foolish. I just wanted to translate the core, that is to say the pages about game basis. And, even in this case, I was waiting for BTS to decide if it was legal/profitable or not.
quote:
In any case, I'm not claiming that you couldn't produce a good translation that CM deserves, only that it probably takes a lot more work than you think

Thanks for warning me Tss, but I DO know that translating is really time-consuming, especially if you want to make things right. About the CMHQ articles, I still think it would be interesting, and I see I wouldn't be the only translator available. So, in my mind, it is a perfectly possible project. Fionn, I'm looking forward to do some lobbying because I am myself not sure if the demand would justify our work ; I'd be glad to have some support from Cyberstratege so if Joel is lurking somewhere on the board.... I think this magazine, who get a good audience, may do a lot to CM in France ( and Belgium etc... ) Xavier, Your idea about a French CM site is really interesting. What about you Email me in private so that we can discuss it ? ( Borgiax, you're in too ) My only aim is to help CM have a larger diffusion ; as a French it was logical for me to propose these tranlations. Regards, Magnus ( IRL Olivier )
 18. oupsssss, double post... Sorry for this inconvenience ! Please erase this topic BTS, and sorry again
 19. Hi, I'm willing to provide french translations to various CM-related articles or to parts of the manual. I've reported my willingness to Fionn : he thinks it is interesting but doubt it would be worth the time. So I'd like to know if there are many french speaking ones around here and if they would be interested by such things. Actually main question is to know if providing french translation would assure better coverage of CM in French speaking countries. That is to say, increase game pleasure, or, even better, bring new players to CM. I know many French are desperately seeking french versions of games ! Regards, Magnus

 21.
quote:
German WWII tanks some of them still able to move

Actually they DO move and parade for spectators. It is called "caroussel" and it is every year around July. According to their HUGE collection I believe it really is worth the cost to go and have a look. I personnally will go this year and have the photos posted on my website. I think that for every tank amateur it is something interesting to hear and see a tank moving... See more here : http://www.musee-des-blindes.asso.fr/ Regards, Olivier PS : one of my friend did go to the caroussel and saw several tanks on the move. According to him the more menacing of them was the Panther. Big and really noisy
 22. Thanks for the reply Escurlock and Cunningham Yes, it's a shame Chamberlain's book is out of print ;( Sure I'll avoid Forty's book, but I still don't know any book which is available and who cover correctly either US or Commonwealth tank. As I'm a little short in money I don't want to buy 46 books So, if anyone has a good reference, it'll be welcome Regards, Magnus
 23. Otto, About the pictures, I found them using a french search engine. I'll try to find more but it seems difficult and the best thing to do might be to contact the town hall ? They might have some archives overthere ? Also, I found the Rainbow division veteran association website. There it is presented a book called the final Crisis ; seems it speak a little from Hatten. Find more here : http://www.rainbowvets.org/ Regards, Olivier
