1. Hello, I've been more than satisfied with the "ENCYCLOPEDIA OF GERMAN TANKS OF WORLD WAR II", and I'm now wondering if there is an allied counterpart. I've seen a few books and I'd greatly appreciate any comments about them : * "BRITISH AND AMERICAN TANKS OF WWII", by Chamberlain, Peter and Ellis * "UNITED STATES TANKS OF WORLD WAR II" by Forty * "BRITISH TANKS OF WORLD WAR 2" by Chamberlain, Peter, Terry and Gander I you have any other it'll be welcome too ! Thanks in advance, Magnus
 2. Berlichtingen, do you speak French ? If so I might be able to give you some good references. Regards, Magnus
 3. Actually Hatten was really part of the Maginot line and moreover there was an artillery observatory. A few bad photos here : http://www.lignemaginot.com/ligne/obs/index.htm About centering the left frame, I was meaning both up and down, and left and right. Full center then Regards, Magnus
 4. humm, maybe I'm wrong, but was not Hatten part of the Maginot line ?
 5. Excellent story Otto ! I can't wait to read the end, please relieve me soon !! One idea for the site to be a little better : get the maps centered on the left frame, and add some more precise plans ( Halten for example ). Regards, Magnus
 6. 7,41 and rising ?? bouhouhou....... ;( Please BTS, release the game before it's too late !
 7. I confess I was converted by Robert Hall. He first told me about CM 2 months ago .At the time we were playing SPww2 PBEM. Since then we've stopped our SP game, I'm every day on the board and..... failing my exams
 8. Affirmative, music works fine...... Good luck in your site, it's MUCH work. Regards, Magnus
 9. ( in answer to Guachi ) For european customers, I've seen at Amazon.co.uk the following : * "US Army Handbook 1939-1945", Sutton Publishing. ISBN is 0750920505, £10.39 * "Handbook on German Military Forces", Louisiana State University Press. ISBN is 0807120111, £16.63 * As we are to speak about reference books, I might add : "Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two", Sterling Publishing. ISBN is 1854095188, £11.08. Simply amazing to see such a book at that price ! So, let's say that, if you include P&P, you get, for £40, a HUGE amount of authoritative books. I think everyone really interested in WWII ought to possess those. Regards, Magnus
 10.
quote:
Do not worry, it will pass

Actually, I'd say : do not worry, it is absolutely normal... When you're totally involved in something, such troubles might appear. I'm living in the French Alpes, and I can tell you that if you're looking for somewhere to make ambushes, and think about tactical actions, that is a prefect place... I'm also glad to see I'm not the only sufferer ! When I brake a conversation because I suddently say " hummm, would be a good place to hide my Stug ", people usually look at me in a strange way Regards, Olivier
 11. Actually I'm still playing SPWWII, even since I get CM Demo ; I find it worth of interest And, I should confess that I really like Unreal Tournament... great game, will help waiting for CM....
 12.
quote:
( even if it is highly probable he did )

(....) even if it is highly probable he does (...) Sorry, correcting myself
 13. Fionn, Translation is ready, and Moon kindly did check it, so I assume it is nearly errorless. I was about to ask permission to post it here, but, of course, I totally agree if you want to post it on CMHQ. As I also think making things honestly is always the best way to do, here's what your seeking : Chief-editor and director of Strategy group, Théophile Monnier. Email :cyberstratege@histecoll.com I don't know if he speaks English or not, so you'll have to ask him ( even if it is highly probable he did ). I'm forwarding you the translation at once, so that you can check it by yourself. Regards, Magnus PS :
quote:
Hey, promote Magnus from junior member to member. That sort of effort deserves some recognition.

LOL ! You're too kind with me, that did not take me that long to make it " Quand on aime on ne compte pas " as we say in French
 14. ok, it's incoming... I'm doing the translation right now ; Moon spontaneously proposed himself to check it ( many mistakes for him to correct, for sure LOL ). As soon as we are finished then I'll mail it to you. I'm wondering if it would be wise to get in on the board ? It's quite big... Too bad I don't have a scanner ; the layout is really something to see. Regards, Magnus PS : damn, that afternoon I was to work for my exams !! Hummm, let's say I'm working my English
 15.
quote:
BTW, I just got my issue of Cyberstratege (the French gaming magazine) and wished that either it came in English or that I learned French instead of Spanish in HS The magazine is something to look at, let me tell you

Thanks for your support Steve So, you were impressed by the magazine's layout ? I must admit that, for 39 Fr, it is quite a good deal ! The same editor also produce "Vae victis", a magazine about historical board games ; excellent, too, and always come with several articles about the art of war in a specific era. And guess which was the last article about ??? West Front 44-45 ! If you get difficulties reading the 2 pages about CM in Cyberstratege, maybe I'll be able to translate them in English for you ? Just advise if you wish too ; and please do not complain about my English thereafter, I'll try my best ! LOL Regards, Magnus
 16. Capt_Manieri
quote:
If you look at Vietnam from a historical stand point, basically Vietnam had tons of "little" skirmishes that ended in a lot of Americans getting killed. One "Charlie" in a tree would pick off 8 Americans before biting it himself.

Worrying to realize how History is teach... And what about the vietnamese ? I think the infamous "kill ratio" was not 1 vietnamese/8 americans, but rather 8/1 due to the tremendous fire power of US troops ; even more actually... Not to mention the South Vietnam army, who suffered heavy losses. I think it's dangerous to forget that not only the Americans suffered over there ! Regards, Magnus ------------------
 17. Stabsfeldwebel, Actually I know a magazine in France called "cyberstratege" which regularly talk about CM. Seems its whole editorial staff is as much impatient as we are on this forum But, as you say, there's not a single online review of the game. Then I think we'll certainly have to advertise it by ourselves ! I personnaly incite all my wargaming's friend to download the demo Regards, Magnus ------------------
 18. ok, first post here so I humbly say hello to all the grognards out there Just get a few questions. As usual I apologize if it has already been discussed before, as I was (totally) converted to CM just a few weeks ago. 1/ While playing Last defense on the american side, I had a hellcat go as fast as it was able to. As it reached its destination it stopped.... instantaneously ! Wouldn't such a bulky thing get a little inertia ? Oh, I guess that's just because CM can't model that, but, hem, just wanted to be sure 2/ Same game, same scenario. Just an anecdote... One green 'zook team, in a wooden house. Told him to fire at a Half-Track. Team missed, but the house started to burn, due to the exhaust gas of the 'zook ! Astonishing realism ! Keep up the good work BTS, you should be proud making such a game. Magnus PS : please do not bother with my english, everybody knows French simply can't be good at languages ------------------
