Panzer Colors Revisited - Screenies for Modders
Magnus replied to Bruno Weiss's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
FYI, Saturnin's Mod is available for download, see this thread . -
[Edit : download site is offline for unknown reason] Here is a very nice Mod for Panzer III L and J (late) by Saturnin... See for yourself : HERE. Both III-L and III-J come with various options. You can download it on Appui-Feu, but for those who don't understand french, here is a direct download link (file is zipped, 4,73 Mo, and contains both III-L and III-J). Enjoy ! .
quote:
Originally posted by von Lucke: Ok, only one question: Since when is Sanchez a French name???

Good question . Before the release of CM, BTS asked for lists of surnames for the game. I know Joël Montagu did send a list for the Free French army ; it was based on a specific unit (can't remember which one) containing many Spanish, plus many others nationalities. I think it is fair for France to remember all the ones who fought under the tricolor flag, coming from the colonies by example. -
We have this at Appui-Feu, but it is in french... I don't know where the original (english) one is, sorry . Magnus

I use Fernando's tricolor Panzer IV with the ambush theme... Fernando's work is truly outstanding . -
Question to Canadians (and others)
Magnus replied to Hoopenfaust2's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)

quote:
Originally posted by Hoopenfaust 101: Xavier I've played all of your scenarios. They are some the best ones I've played that have to do with the Canadians. You've got a good touch. You need to release them in a large pack in english so our international community can understand the briefings.

Hoopenfaust, two scenarios involving canadian forces are already translated : "Bloody Buron" (from Joël Montagu) and "Ein Würfelspiel" (from Xavier). These two scenarios are available at Appui-Feu (on the Scenarios pages). If anybody wants to make a translation of "Charnwood" from French to English, I'll be glad to put it online at Appui-Feu, after what I'll release a pack with the three scenarios . -

quote:
Originally posted by lcm1947: Did you also increase the amount of flying material. It looks like it and that to me is the neatest part when you happen to be close to a vehicle when it blows up - WOW!

Icm, there is a lot of flying material on this screenshot because it was 8 inches shells ...

An Announcement of Mammoth Proportions!
Magnus replied to SuperTed's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Well, some clarifications seem necessary here : First, on the Store4War( http://www.store4war.com ) site, you will be able to buy not only the french but also the english version of CMBO. Please note that the latter is *exactly* the same as the one shipped from battlefront.com, manual included.
quote:
“Localised” European versions are in my experience always of lower production quality in one or more aspects, box, manual, extras etc. Not to mention the versions that are translated, or even worse, with localised voice acting. Ridiculous is to put it in the nicest way possible.

Please allow us to prove ourselves before judging . That others make industrial and insipid translations does not mean we will do in the same way. Believe me we are as dedicated to CMBO as you are, and willing to provide a translation worth the game. As an example, I did the french translation and I can ensure you that it is far better than anything you will find on the market. The manual is actually 207 pages long, that is to say longer than the original.
quote:
Also I'm not sure about a manual translated from US English, to French and finally to UK English

I don't know where you got this information ? Be sure that we will never do such stupid things ! Olivier [ 06-07-2001: Message edited by: Magnus ] -

quote:
Hey, this is a job I could do very well. I'm bilingual, know CM, and interested. Who do I contact? Or does Appui-Feu have it wrapped up already?

Deanco, Please contact me by mail (O.Blanc@noos.fr) so that we can discuss it privately. Olivier -
WRG, You can find a scenario about Hill 112 on Appui-Feu (see URL below). Just go to the "Scenarios" section and download "Côte 112". But there are 2 problems : * Briefings are in french * It is historical, not adapted from ASL. Anyway, hope you'll like it Magnus
