Hello, I've been searching the web without finding any good answer so I decide to post it on this forum. The question is quite simple actually : can somebody give me the organisation of US paratroopers from battalion down to individual level ? I'd like battalion level to be synthetic but would love to get weapons for each man at squad and company levels ( I know it depends, I mean : some generalities ). I'll use these datas to accurately play board wargames using 1/72 scale miniatures Thanks in advance ! German : the Panther, probably one of the most terrifying tank of WWII. Brit : maybe the Comet. I'm impatient to see how this one perform. US : the Chaffee. Maybe not the ideal tiger-crusher but love its agressive shapes. ------------------ Venez visiter le seul site consacré à Combat Mission en français : Appui-feu http://appui-feu.panzershark.com [This message has been edited by Magnus (edited 06-15-2000).]

Appui-Feu, a new website dedicated to CM in french
Magnus replied to Magnus's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Thank you all for your kind words, it means much to us I'd like to say again to all french speakers around here, that their contribution will be welcomed. We especially seek people who have good knowledge of the Free French History And, again, thanks to BTS for their encouragement and support Best regards, Magnus -
Xavier and I are pleased to announce a new website about CM named Appui-Feu ( means "support fire" in french ). You can find it here : http://appui-feu.panzershark.com It will focus on the Free French forces and will provide original scenarios ( thanks to Joel Montagu, a CM beta tester ), as well as historical and tactical articles. Also, don't miss our logo featuring a tweaked screenshot from Steve Grammont himself and our galleries ( you'll find one in which a lone GI take out a Panther at 20m distance ! ) For now the site is only french but for those who are interested in the History of the Free French we plan to make an english version as soon as possible. We would appreciate any comments about the site layout in order to improve it. We will also welcome anyone speaking french and willing to help, or simply wanting to take part to our forum. At last, we would like to thank Panzershark who kindly allowed us to integrate his domain ! Best regards, Magnus PS : Moon and Carlos Lorenzo, you will find on the site articles from you, translated in french. If that offend you, please report it to me and I will remove them immediatly.

In honor of the 100th and the 442nd...

quote:
( the Nesai warriors --my spelling isn't right, I'm sure)

Correct name is "Nisei". An interesting subject for creating scenarios, for sure. Have a book about the Vosges battle, but won't be enough to help you I suppose. Yet, if you manage to find some more documentation I'll be pleased to give some help. Best regards, Magnus -
Where is The Newbe Training Area?
Magnus replied to Cover's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)

quote:
Actually yes, though I would guess the odds are pretty low

I must have been lucky then On my first blind game of VoT, took out the 75 bunker on the very first turn of shelling. On the same game, also took out the panther with 105mm, and on the very first turn too. A damn good spotter, isn't he ? -
Question for BTS or anyone else interested

quote:
I would love to see a Panther on my desktop with a building close to it and a burning sherman in the background

LOL, replace Panther by Sherman and Sherman by Panther, and you get my own favorite desktop -

quote:
Xavier, isn't CyberStratege a popular magazine in France amongst wargamers? I thought they gave plenty of advertisement for CM!

They did, yet won't do anymore... Cyberstratege is dead, due to the departure of its chief editor Yep, that's right : for once we get a good magazine in France, it doesn't draw enough readers and finally die. *Sigh* The review of CM will surely appear on Vaevictis which will now get an additional 16 pages about computer wargames. I doubt it will have as many readers as Cyberstratege, though. "Le Roi est mort, vive le Roi!" ?

Very ON TOPIC : CM Scenarios
Magnus replied to Norman Wind's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Well, as we are to speak about scenarios, I suggested a while ago to create a sub-section on CMHQ called "scenario in progress". It would list all the scenarios beeing made, show which help would be needed, and prevent something from beeing done twice. Of course it's only intented to historical scenarios, for which gathering knowledge would be really useful : the scenario designer might miss the OB, or the map, yet someone going through CMHQ might see it and provide the required informations. Regards, Magnus -
According to P.Chamberlain and H.Doyle in "Encyclopedia of german tanks of WWII", guns from Stugs F/F8/G got a traverse of 10°right and 10°left. Precedent series got a traverse of 12° right and 12° left. Hope that answer your question. Regards, Magnus

Hey! The Internet is on Computers these days!
Magnus replied to Major Tom's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Well, what to say ? I must say I am really DISGUSTED when I hear you guys talking. I definitely refuse to argue on such inconsiderate and violent smashing. As a french, I do not consider us as a particularly great country, but, oh god!, such blind smashing... Please, Steve, close this tread before a flame war begin... Magnus, a french fellow who would have WITHOUT ANY DOUBT flew in face of the enemy in 1940, then would have cooperated all the way with nazis before finally joining the resistance on 5th June 1944, thus becoming a national hero. Thanks for your attention, and really thanks to the few one here who did not fall into such free flaming ( DEF, bakker ).
quote:
You're probably thinking about Oradour-sur-Glane

Well, not necessarily... The massacre at ORADOUR-sur-GLANE took place on 10th June 1944, but bigggie might also be talking about the massacre at Maillé, on 25th August 1944. This one tend to be forgotten as on the same day Paris was liberated. I get some info about Maillé, so if you could remember which one you're looking for Biggie, please advise. For now you can visit these pages ( in french ! ) : * About Maillé, http://perso.club-internet.fr/acroy/ * About Oradour-sur-Glane, http://perso.wanadoo.fr/bernard.baudy/ Regards, Magnus -
