  1. Martyr, Charles is looking into it. Right now, I play no scenarios with reinforcements for the AI side. Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  2. Your crews will break long before they will accomplish anything. And the enemy gets lots of points for a dead crew IICR. BUT, after all, crews ARE soldiers and had at least infantry basic training. Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  3. Originally an artillery train soldier armed with the flintlock fusil which eliminated the need for burning match, thereby reducing the danger of accidental powder explosions. Fusiliers became an infantry troop type when the flintlock musket was introduced as the standard infantry weapon. Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  4. Some other players experienced the same thing, even with infantry reinforcements. Looks like a major bug. Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  5. As this is a major bug (and spoils most of the scenarios vs. the AI), I guess it will be addressed real soon. Right now, only play scenarios in which the AI does not get any reinforcements. Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  6. I've mailed Charles a scenario in which 1. The reinforcements do not appear at the set entry point. 2. The AI NEVER used the reinforcement tanks during the whole scenario (experienced in a couple of scenarios). Both bugs were "invented" with 1.03, and they seem to have the same cause. Needless to say, that these inconsistencies spoil a lot of scenarios vs. the AI Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  7. No this can not happen; just too many scenarios I won, because the AI never used its armor assets. The AI really needed them badly to win, but they where not moved ... There is something wrong with the way the AI places/uses reinforcements. Fred
  8. I agree with Jeff, so a Yes to a roster. After all, the player is just this, the player, not an alter ego of a CO on the battlefield. It's a wargame after all, not a role playing game. Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  9. Charles, I've mailed you a tiny scenario, in which the AI does not use armor reinforcements. At the scenario end, they are still at their starting position. The AI has not moved them a single inch. Fred
  10. Before starting CM again, delete the prefs file in the CM directory. This file stores the info about your video settings. Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  11. As I said, it worked in 1.0, 1.01 and 1.02. it is a bug Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  12. This is a bug: 1. If you issue a target order, the guns DO rotate. This shows that they are technically and mechanically able to rotate in the game. 2. Ever saw a 88 Flak (the real thing) in action? It is a AA Gun and this nice piece of hardware rotates like a charm on its carriage. Not fast, but steadily. I posted this as a bug in the Tech Forum. Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  13. Hi Mark! 1. If you have a customized mouse cursor, disable it and activate the default cursor. 2. If you have kind of a "special" mouse driver, try the default driver 3. Make sure Directx 7.0a is installed 4. Get the latest drivers for your video card 5. Do not let any other programs (tools, tasks) run while playing CM (virus scanner, un-instaler, etc.) 6. Avoid switching back to the Windows desktop via the ESC key. 7. Set your desktop resolution to the same resolution (with 16-bit color depth) as CM 8. Buy a new video card... Fred
  14. There is a bug in version 1.03. The "Rotate" command (hotkey "O") is not available for 8,8 cm guns (Flak, AT, etc.). Neither is it in the command pop-up menu, nor does the hotkey work. It does work during setup. The guns DO turn if you issue a target order. Fred
  15. Graphics are nice, but there is only so much programming time avaiable. Instead of fancy graphics (and I think the graphics in CM are great!), I would prefer it, if the time at hand would be used for further improvement of the (already fantastic) underlying game engine and the AI. Whatever the reviewers from the mainstream magazines would say. Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  16. Well, the case is, that CM is a wargame. The scope is tactical, not strategic. That is the reason why it is labeled as a wargame. BTS is honest and not into marketing hype (like other companies). And maybe people are getting false impressions when saying "it's just another strategy game". Quality sells itself, as one can surely see now, even if CM is not mainstream (and hopefully will NEVER be). Fred
  17. The placement of reinforcements seems to be buggy. I played "Hells Highway". The german 2 vehicles (reinforcements) were not only placed within WOODS (what makes them unusable in the scenario), but one of them even was 390 m away from the reinforcement marker! There is enough clear ground around the reinforcement marker, so this looks like a bug to me. Fred
  18. Another excellent scenario from WBW! Thanks Wild Bill! This scenario has it all...careful planning, maneuvering, bounding overwatch approaches, surprises and heroism. I will never forget how my Flamethrower team sneaks around the US right flank, covered only by a small rise, then crawls up this rise to approach the US Sherman, that shelled my center platoon. I ordered the whole platoon to fire at the Sherman and the TC buttons. Meanwhile my team crawled closer...40 m...to far for the Flamethrower. The Sherman turns and slowly the turret moves...36 m...32 m The team was in position now...the Sherman, while still turning the turret, started its engines and tried to reverse...too late! One burst of flames and it was over...and the main threat for my center was gone. EK I for the (single) survivor. 19. Jarmo, yes, Bundeswehr is the successor of the former Wehrmacht. Fred
  20. The Wehrmacht included all military forces of germany. The Heer was the land forces. Because of this, the OKW (Oberkommando der Wehrmacht) was superior to the OKH (Oberkommando des Heeres). At least, until Hitler made himself leader of the OKH. Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  21. Sure, but we did not talked about branches. Bundeswehr is all armed forces, but the branches (Luftwaffe, Heer, Marine) are still there...but what was the question? Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  22. Armyheer? The german army today is the "Bundeswehr"... ? Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  23. Dr, use more waypoints and do not rely on the AI to plot it for you. "Pathfinding" is nice for a real-time-clickfeast, but not for a consim. I usually use around 10 waypoints for a 100 m move(with obstacles). If it comes to walls, houses etc. I even use one every 5 m. And I think its fine, because I play the game, not the AI I never had a Halftrack go "zig-zag", I never experienced a tank go "through" a wall. Just use more waypoints. Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
  24. Andre wrote: "It's just the same with the TacAI, if you WANT your units going thru a field and u know they'll be shot up real bad, but you have a tactical reason for it, the unit will proberly not complete you movement, because the unit "thinks". " You miss the whole point about what CM tries to simulate. You do not command mindless robots that follow your suicide orders. They behave in a realistic way and this is the reason why CM is such an unique experience. Place your waypoints in an "intelligent" way, and all is fine. My troops never stumbled into hedges, walls etc. Fred ------------------ "I got signals, I got readings, in front and behind of us!" - PFC Hudson on LV-426 mission
