  1. I posted a new scenario, 1944 Anzio. It’s a Regimental/Divisional level game of the Allied attempt to cut off the Germans in southern Italy in the winter of 1944. The scenario begins with an invasion that offers the Allied player an opportunity to gain a major victory by cutting off the north-south highway early in the campaign. But, if the Germans can contain the beachhead the battle will turn into a fight for Rome itself. I hope you all enjoy it. 1944 Anzio. Robert
  2. Although the war will principally be fought in Europe and the Asian-Pacific areas, much action will pop-up in other places on the Global Map!
  3. I like the suggestion. I think it could be used as a way to add play balance. If you are an experienced player, you may want to give the Axis AI this decision event, and visa-versa is you are a new player and want a little advantage being the Axis. Robert
  4. I just uploaded it, so it should be ready soon. This Scenario captures the last years of the Pacific War and allows players to fight the last bloody battles of the war. Just as in SC2’s 1944 Operation Overlord, we have a campaign modification that starts at the beginning of the end. In the summer of 1944 the Americans had broken through Japan’s outer ring of islands and were poised to begin the final phases of the war. On the Asian mainland the Japanese had launched two offensives in April, one into India and the other in China. By June the Japanese Indian invasion was going poorly with the Commonwealths forces holding firm. But, in China Operation Ichigo was proceeding well, with the second phase, the attack on Changsha, expected in late June. In this modification the Allied player has several decisions to make. The British can push into Burma, or launch an amphibious assault to liberate Malaya. The Americans must decide on retaking the Philippines or invading Formosa; all the while taking more Japanese islands, positioning bombers closer Japanese mainland targets. The Chinese have some American help and might be able to hold out, although they will have a difficult time recovering any lost territory. And, the Soviets are an ever-looming threat to Japan’s rear. The Japanese player needs to hold out. The decision that need to be made are how far to push the Asian land offensives, and when to use the much reduced Japanese fleet. Enjoy the game and I invite all and any comments. http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=select&id=22 Robert
  5. I can't wait to read your feedback. Thanks for sharing!
  6. Good topic. Speaking of the Editor’s weather. I’d like an easier way to edit the contents in the various tables ( I am using the word “tables” without the benefit of actually knowing if there are tables as such – like SQL or Oracle). The current problem is that if you are starting a new mod, vise a “saved-as” one, you have to enter each weather zone manually. The solution would be an interface, say similar Excel file or a file with delimiters, which allows me to enter data in the interface file and import/save/upload to the desired editor part. I could also be used for units. I’d like to have a file with, say, all German infantry Divisions; and be able to share and edit it repeatedly. I would not have to, each time a new mod is created (from scratch) type in the units identifications. I am sure there are other applications for this type of editing. Robert
  7. It is hard to make a game covering the whole Eastern campaign perfect, but one thing about SC is that it can always be improved upon. The comments are great. The one thing I always saw as needed in this scenario was a purchase scripts. The AI needs direction in this regard. Robert
  8. Big Al; Is there a reason you don’t use the Battlefront Repository? Robert
  9. Hi EMF, Negative influence upon minors... In the activity scripts you can have a minor pull either war: toward the Allies of Axis. So, maybe your suggestion would work if the activity scripts had a variable that would activate a relationship between the script and the Diplomacy module. Mulberry harbor... Not too sure about this. Maybe in a smaller scope, not global. Essentially HQ's enhances unit supply even if there is no port. So, HQ's have expeditionary port (Mulberry) capabilities. Robert
  10. Al; Three things come to mind: - You have to consider other scripts that may be active at the same time and may be the reason the transport is not working. - Distance. I have seen that long distances can cause problems. Try a test. Use the same script and send the UK reinforcements to South Africa. If it works, try India. - If this does not work try to put dummy entries in CANCEL_POSITION, ACTIVATE_POSITION, TACTICAL_CONDITION, and VARIABLE_CONDITION. Trying to eliminate all variables. If the script works, add each variable back one at a time and test. Let me know how this works! Robert
  11. All; Back in February Kuniworth asked for Smolensk. Here ya go… enjoy! 1941 Battle for Smolensk Robert
  12. All; Just uploaded to Battlefront Repository. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1937 – 45 East Asia, version 1.01, Changes - Created a barrier on the map so USA can’t be attacked (Scott M.). - Lowered Japanese human at start and increased AI unit scripts to increase play balance during Human/AI games (Scott M.). - Added 3 USA air units (Scott M.). - Increased USA Industrial Modifier to 55% (Scott M.). - Removed Wengate from HQ force pool (Bill R.). - Added full names for the KMT and CCP Chen HQ’s (Bill R.). - Adjusted USA at start research levels (Bill R.). - Corrected Indian unit labeling (Bill R.). - Added a Japanese offensive script for the invasion of Burma (Louie M.). - Fixed the victory conditions script (Louie M.). - Fixed the blank decision event (Louie M.). - Lowered Japanese Industrial Modifier to 30%. - Fixed Lanchow supply script. - If Indochina surrenders prior to 1940, the Indochina decision event will not run. - If Japan attacks Indochina independently of the 1940 decision event, the USA and the UK will move very close to war with Japan. - The IJN Indian Ocean decision event will not run unless the British and the USA are at war with Japan. - Free Communist Chinese Units script added. - Japanese capture of Paotow moves the Communist Chinese toward war with Japan.
  13. Hi Al, You can use a unit script to force a specific unit to arrive at a specific location. The AI has a mind of its own when reinforcements come from the Production Queue. To defend a specific location, use the garrison script. I hope this helps. Robert
  14. Hi Sidius Welcome back. I would make it in the Patton Drives East (PDE) engine. PDE (unlike WaW) has the decision event scripts that make for great game play. Although Pacific Theater is newer, it does not have as many countries that PDE has. But, it is up to you. If you only have WaW, I will play your game! Robert
  15. Hi Louie, The units that must garrison the Manchurian cities are country specific. Manchouli, Tsitsihar, Harbin, Hsinking, Kiamusze and Yenki must be garrisoned by Japanese units. And, Mukden must be garrisoned by a Manchukuo unit. There are added locations that must be garrisoned after 1943. The activation_2.txt file has the details if you are curious. There is a pop-up that lists the cities the Japanese have to garrison. Another way the Soviets move toward war with Japan is if Japan has more then three units in or adjacent to Manchouli and/or Kiamusze. See the activation_2.txt file. Robert
  16. Scott, Yes, I’ll fix that garrison issue for the US – I was thinking about placing a barrier. How should the US be stronger – land units, air, naval… ? Robert
  17. Hi Louie, Thank you for the feedback. I am considering lowering the Japanese MPP levels. When you finish your game drop me a note and let me know what you think. If you are in Shanghai, the Sihang Warehouse might interest you. When I was doing some research on the 1937 battle there I came across an intense fight that took place there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_of_Sihang_Warehouse Also, of what little I know about China I think the most impressive sites would be the Great Wall and Three Gorges Dam. And, I’d want to see Tiananmen Square – we here so much about it on the news, I’d like to actually see it. Robert
  18. Louie, Thanks for the feedback. That Thailand surrender was scripted. After a certain date and Rangoon in Allied hands, Thailand will get out of the war. But, I’ll check the script and make sure it is working properly. Sorry about the Japanese not being more aggressive in Burma – I can improve that. That mysterious, blank decision event is funny – I can fix that also. I don’t like it that the victory conditions are not working (I am struggle with victory scripts). I’ll put some effort into that one also. I have a few other changes to make, and your feedback will help! Give me a couple of weeks and I’ll come out with a new version. Robert
  19. Hi Wushuki, Try the Battlefront store again soon. I've used the online service and was pleased. You can also contact the web admin directly under Support > Contact Us. These guys will respond. Let us know if you are still having problems. Robert
  20. All; I posted a new scenario. It should be available after review. As the tile indicates, this is the land war in Asia from the Japanese invasion of China in 1937 to the end of the war in the Pacific. The game does not end with the surrender of Japan, but victory conditions are dependant on objectives on the mainland. I took Bill’s wonderful Operation Z scenario, cut out the Pacific Ocean, moved the start date back to 7 July 1937 and increased the day-to-turn assignment by about 50%. What I hope I have done is provided you all with a historical (well, mostly… I have 13 Decision Events for you to choose from) scenario that will be fast, fun playing. This was a good sized effort and I think I did not dot all the ‘i's’ and cross all the ‘t's.’ So send me your comments and suggestions so I can start working on an update. I’ll post in the Battlefront repository and CMMODS. Robert
  21. All; I am posting a correction for the 1944-45 Philippines victory.txt file until the second Pacific Theater update can be complied and posted. The file corrects a #DATE error discovered by Kuniworth. The file is under review and should be posted to the Battlefront repository shortly. To install just place the victory.txt file in the Strategic Command WWII Pacific Theater folder -> Campaigns -> 1944-45 Philippines -> Scripts -> Events. It will overwrite the existing file. Robert
  22. Hi Scott, This seems to look like China in June 1942, great job. I can’t see the image two well. So two questions… Are the units around Nanchang & Wuhan depleted (not at 10 strength)? I see six units around Chunking, what types are they? I think you should add one Japanese Army just north of Canton. Robert
  23. Hi Mithel; Of course! 1937 Shanghai is the Chinese attempt to force the Japanese out of Shanghai. The Japanese in July of that year had taken to a major offensive in northern China and routed her troops there. The Chinese attack into the Japanese neighborhoods of Shanghai touched off a violent Japanese reaction that included massive reinforcement and two major amphibious landings. Notable in this battle was the Chinese deployment of their central German-trained army. The fighting took place in front of the International settlements in Shanghai that elicited sympathy for the courage of the Chinese in face of superior Japanese firepower. My scenario is generally built around the historical forces and events. I did not include the Japanese landing in the south as the AI did not like the action and kept frustrating my scripting. That landing was only the final straw that otherwise broke the back of an already defeated Chinese army. 1941 – 42 Malaya- Singapore is the Japanese conquest of Malaya and Singapore. Many historians argue that the British commander gave up too earlier and could have fought on, maybe even holding on to the tiny Singapore Island. The Japanese showed a tactical skill at out maneuvering the British in the jungles and hills of Malaya, eventually choosing the right spot to come ashore on the Singapore Island. I’ve included two decision events that cover the fate of Force Z and the air reinforcement for the British. After you have had the chance to play one or both games let me know what you think. Robert
  24. Hi Scott, Try this: Have the Japanese start, place only their carriers within aircraft range of the American fleet. Place the Japanese surface ships 6 tiles to the rear of the Japanese. My guess is that the Japanese carriers will strike the Americans and then back away behind their own surface ships. You might have to reposition your ships several time before you get the right effect. Robert
