  1. Hi Mathias Gold cannot be de-activated, but you are allowed 4 activations a year with 1 extra in each subsequent year. If you reach your limit then the best thing to do would be to submit a ticket to the Helpdesk. Bill
  2. Hi I'm thinking about this all, and am inclining towards doing something roughly along these lines, but just need to think about it a bit more first. Bill
  3. I'd stick a couple of AA units in the area as it will increase the RAF's costs of maintaining the bombing offensive.
  4. Hi nats For the Japanese/Chinese war and the Pacific, this would be the best bet: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=206&Itemid=303 The list of campaigns included is here: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=210&Itemid=308 Though as it's an older game in our series it doesn't have many of the new features that have been introduced since, but it's still fun to play, and with the latest patch it contains quite a lot of scenarios. For Operation Bagration, it would have to be our Assault on Communism package: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=311&Itemid=544 Operation Bagration was included in a patch. Bill
  5. Thanks for the explanation as it will help our thoughts for the future.
  6. Hi Catacol Highlander We're on the case and looking into this, and don't worry, we always check the beta area too! Bill
  7. Hi Furchtlosundtrew Just wanted to say that Intelligence research can increase your chance of research success, but not of diplomacy. Bill
  8. Thanks Furchtlosundtrew, I'll take a look at this to fix it for the next patch.
  9. Hi Strategiclayabout I just want to clarify exactly what you mean by this: Only if you were playing against me, then you'd probably have your amphibs sunk pretty quickly. Or are you referring to them being parked next to neutral countries so their presence isn't being reported to your opponent? Thanks Bill
  10. You may find Xwormwood's excellent post here useful too, particularly as your question inspired his post! http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?p=1495775#post1495775
  11. Yes, I've just been looking at the Guide and it isn't clearly explained there as being dependent on a "no" to the first decision. Seeing that even has me thinking of making it a second, and separate event just as you thought it was, so that the events are cumulative. I wonder if that would be better?
  12. Thanks very much for the great AAR! I am reading this thread and making notes, as always. With regards to US mobilization later in the war, do the events described in post 46 in this thread explain it? http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=107356&page=5 I recommend unrestricted naval warfare as the solution to falling German National Morale, and I don't really worry too much about the USA. They are slow to mobilize and a weakened Britain helps in the meantime. Normally US entrance into the war isn't anything like as decisive as it was here, because German NM was at crisis point when it happened. In a situation like this where Germany only really starts advancing in 1918 things are rather different to those games where Germany strikes west in 1914-15. If we were to add some substantial one-off NM gains for conquests in France, then we'd have to counterbalance this in some way for those games where Germany takes and then holds these locations in 1914-15. As to Italy, in my experience they are fairly easy to beat up if some German units go and help their Austro-Hungarian allies. Especially when I am commanding the Italians it seems! The non-appearance of the Decisions to spend MPPs for NM when Germany and Russia is at 25% NM is strange, though note that these Decisions only appear if you said no to the earlier Decisions when NM had fallen to 50%, as a second chance to slow the decline. Could it be that? Bill
  13. Hi No investment means there will never be an advance, so choose wisely where you spend those MPPs! Bill
  14. Yes, if you look in the National Morale script files, all of the events relating to these are in there. Search for the tile location of the resource you're thinking of and you'll be able to see what scripts relate to that location. And yes, I'm afraid that you are right on the NM value of fortresses, it is 30. I was thinking of Major capitals which is 100. Still, the good news is that Belfort still does offset Metz, and if you could just recapture that and then take Verdun, well, we'll have to see!!
  15. I think it would have said "The US Prepares for War" as that's what happens when they reach a high mobilization and normally mobilization is then unstoppable. The Celebrates event regarding Metz is an event added to boost France's morale when they retake this important city lost in 1870. This made it highly prestigious. There may be some more like it, but most events are penalties to the side losing the position. But even so, Belfort is now providing you with 100 NM points a turn, which offsets the loss of Metz.
  16. Hi Once the research has been successful, then the MPPs invested will have been fully consumed and you'll be able to invest some fresh MPPs into new categories. What we have in place is a limit on the amount of MPPs that can be invested at any one time, but throughout the game the actual amount invested can be far more. I hope this makes sense? Bill
  17. Good point, we'll have to think about this and come up with a solution to make sure that the DE text does refer to pretty much the correct amount of real MPPs.
  18. The UK also loses 50 NM points a turn if Egypt has surrendered to the Central Powers.
  19. Hi 1) The tank symbol means that the unit attacking hasn't moved before attacking, so it benefits from a combat bonus. This is known as a Blitz attack in our WWII games and as a Prepared Attack in WWI games. It can make a lot of difference! The wavy line means that you are attacking across a river, and this will reduce your attack chances. 2) The +/- is the variation that the icons in 1) will make to the result. 3) The bottom bar is a more detailed explanation of the combat odds, so SA=3 means that your unit has a Soft Attack value of 3, while the DB is Defence Bonus. TA/TD would be Tank Attack/Defense. NA/ND = Naval Attack/Defense. Bill
  20. Hi Bairdlander The manual cannot be downloaded directly from the website, but comes with the game itself as a pdf file, plus as a hardcopy if that option is ordered. Bill
  21. Austro-Hungarian forces did fight on the western front in 1918, so it's not unhistorical.
  22. You're right that it does seem a bit odd that the Treaty of Bucharest cannot happen before October 1917. I will have to check to see if there was a reason why I set it at that. As to the value of Ukrainian grain, from what I recall it was a bit of a disappointment due to the situation there and the disruption caused by war and revolution. So while being useful to have it, it wouldn't fully negate the impact of not being able to trade with Holland, particularly as imports from Holland would be of a wider number of products than those from the Ukraine.
