  1. Since we just announced CMAK I will once more be searching for native Italian (and other language) speakers to record dialouge to be used in-game. If you have a good speaking voice and can ACT (that is important, if you cant act don't contact me) and also have decent computer audio recording equipment then please contact me directly at matt@battlefront.com and I will get in touch with you with what I need and how I need it.
  2. We can not replace CDV versions. You have to contact CDV for support for that version. Madmatt
  3. Just something you might be interested in was just announced... BE SURE you read through the FAQ file. It answers many of the questions that I am sure will follow. Madmatt
  4. The wait is over. The next game in the award winning Combat Mission series has just been announced. Combat Mission: Afrika Korps (CMAK) moves the focus to three new regions of conflict. North Africa from 1940-43 Italy (including Sicily) from 1943-45 Crete in 1941. Using a modified CMBB engine Combat Mission: Afrika Korps adds some new features including dust clouds and multi-turreted vehicles. Check out the new CMAK Overview webpage and read through the CMAK Frequently Asked Questions section which we have prepared for you. We also have a small gallery of CMAK Screenshots to wet your whistle. We expect CMAK to be available in the 4th quarter 2003. Check out the CMAK section located here: CMAK Website [ April 04, 2003, 02:18 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  5. Make sure to contect to Creatives website and download the newest Audigy 2 drivers that are available (some new ones were released recently). Another thing to try is go into the DirectX Control Panel (run DXDIAG) and reduce the level of sound acceleration one notch to the left (set it to Standard Acceleration) and see if that makes a difference. 6. You shouldn't have two shortcuts, the files in 1.02 overwrite the old ones so this tells me that the patch is not properly installed. It MUST go into the same location as the original install. As said above, you also need to apply the 1.01 patch first and then apply the 1.02 patch. Madmatt [ April 02, 2003, 11:43 AM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]

  8. The refresh rate should have no bearing on the text and those driver (30.82) should not display any anti-aliasing issues. FSAA ussues began with the 41.09 drivers. The solution is to simply disable it the if you choose to use those drivers. What I would do is unistall the 30.82's, then install the Standard VGA driver. That will clear out any old Nvidia drivers that could be causing problems. Then reinstall the 30.82's. Be sure and delete the Combat Mission BB Prefs file before you try and relaunch the game after you do the above. Let me know what happens. Madmatt
  9. Thats a good question. To date my testing has all been done on XP and other people that reported this to me were also on XP. Any 95/98/ME people out there with a GeForce card want to test the new drivers out and see if they also get the slowdowns? Madmatt
  10. This thread now highlights a new feature of UBB. Sticky Threads! We can now select important threads and announcements and make them always appear at the top of the thread listings. Woo! Madmatt
  11. We were hoping that Nvidia would resolve the FSAA and framerate issue with these new official drivers. Obviously that hasn't happened so we are again talking with them to see if something can be done either on there end or perhaps on ours to get this resolved. Currenly we can only fully endorse the 30.82 or 30.87 series drivers. By modifying the .inf file that comes with them you can get these drivers to work with a GeForce 4 card. If you don't mind disabling FSAA then the 41.09 drivers also perform well. These drivers can be located on Nvidia's website under their Driver Archive section. 12. Okay, thats enough ladder/people/persona bashing for now. Move on, nothing to see here. Madmatt
  13. Nope, not going to happen on my shift. If you must talk about this stuff, do it via email or somewhere else. This topic is still too volatile to permit here though. Madmatt
  14. Guys, we have been trying to get ahold of you both. Dan needs to ask you something real quick. Please contact him asap at dan@battlefront.com Thanks guys!! Madmatt p.s. please bump as needed to keep this fresh so they see it!
  15. I was introduced to MBV and Loveless back in 92' while I was chilling with my then girlfriend on the campus of Washington Lee University in Lexington Va. Ahh...the memories...well, the memories of stuff I THINK occured back then...Not too many brain cells survived that spring... Madmatt
  16. This is the first time I have seen this issue mentioned (in CMBO or CMBB) so if someone has a test file that shows this, send it to me and I will have a look. Thanks! Madmatt
  17. I like all the suggestions except #3 which gives the player a little too much automation/control with that command. We want the player do have to do a little work themselves and getting down in level 1 with the camera and scanning about is essential and something we don't want to automate away from. The other suggestions are all pretty good. Madmatt
  18. JPS, I would go ahead and reinstall CMBB then apply each patch in order. Madmatt
  19. There seems to be a problem with some of the latest beta Nvidia Geforce drivers. Which drivers are using? I recommend the older 30.82 for best performance and stability. You can also try the last official versions which are 41.09 but you will need to turn off anti-aliasing otherwise you may encounter some graphics corruption (missing text). Madmatt
  20. No, CDV is supposed to have a different named exe than the Battlefront.com version. I was just thinking that perhaps they renamed it again but we have now confirmed that the CDV patch (German at least) actually still has the 1.01 executable packed in the patch. The multilingual version has the correct 1.02 exe file though which is why we advise that you only patch with that file. We have alerted CDV of this and hopefully they will update their patches to get this fixed. The problem with CMMOS is the fact that Gordon didnt realize that CDV changed the exe name and he has CMMOS set to only recognize the original filename. I believe that was changed in a more recent CMMOS version. Madmatt
  21. Moved on to other things?!?!?!!! HAH!!! Hardly! CMHQ is getting bigger and better than ever before. MikeT and jwxspoon are releasing high quaility CMMOS mods as fast as they can so be sure to swing by to see whats hot out of the oven. Psst, by the way, Porsche and Henschel were the REAL life engineers behind many of Germany's tank designs.., Now, as to who does the best German tank textures...I would have to go with Kwazydog and Fernando! Madmatt
  22. Looks like the CDV 1.02 patch for Germans still has the wrong exe version it it. For now, just download the multilanguage patch which you can find here: http://gamesweb.com/pc/downloads/patches/detail.php?item_id=31315 Madmatt
  23. UPDATE... It *seems* that at least the German language patch at CDV has the 1.01 exe in it instead of the 1.02. The UK and French patches may or may not suffer from this same issue. Apparently the joint language patch has the correct file. We are alerting CDV to this issue at once. For now, the solution is to download the multi-language patch if you have the CDV/Euro version of CMBB. Madmatt
  24. litchy, I am still researching this issue but my CDV CD got damaged and I have to wait to get another one sent from them. I was curious to what you saw when you looked into your game folder. Were there two different exe's and if so what were they both called and which one was the new one? Madmatt [ March 10, 2003, 11:29 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  25. If you launch the game and it still says 1.01 then you are still running the 1.01 version of the game BUT the patch files could in fact be installed (see below). My guess (and I am checking into this) is that for some reason the 1.02 patch (CDV German version) creates a DIFFERENT named exe to launch the game. Whats happening is that people are using the old shortcut to launch the game and its launching the OLD executable instead of the new one, which is also in the same location. Any of you that have installed the German CDV patch, just look into your game folder and see how many .exe files you see. If you see two of them than that is the problem. I will check this myself and let you know what I find. Madmatt
