  1. I have the cdv version of the game. I have downloaded the version 1.01 and 1.02 patches for the cdv version but when I attempt to install version 1.01 I get an error message that reads: Could not initialize installation. File size expected=68135191, size returned=53082616. The game will not allow me to execute the version 1.02 patch without first patching to the 1.01 version. I realize that battlefront isn't responsible for tech support for the cdv version but I didn't get anywhere with the cdv tech. Was only told to re download the patch (68 MB). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Myles Hall.
  2. Thanks Tank. Yes, I just checked the box and it has cdv in the upper right corner. I didn't realize there were different versions. I am going to try and find the right patch and give it a try. Mylo
  3. I like to keep my tanks far from the fighting and use them as mobile gun platforms (what a concept), using them to suppress and pin down an opponent more than actually killing them. Once the armour is laying down some good fire, drop a bunch of smoke close to your target (preferably with "spotter" arty because it creates more), then assault with your infantry (preferably more than one squad). Only once my infantry have cleared an area do I move my tanks up and repeat the process (hopefully). I find the instant I try to use my tanks out front, they get wasted. Offensive tactic in a nutshell. Hardly foolproof. Things can go for **** in a real hurry but, it beats the hell out of watching your tanks get killed before you even know what's going on. Mylo
  4. I have installed CMBB in C:\Program Files\Combat Mission 2 as per default. I then run the version 1.1 patch first, installing it the same place (C:\Program Files\Combat Mission 2). The patch installs successfully according to the installer but when I double click the .exe icon for the version 1.1 game, I get a message telling me that the disk needs to be in to play the full version when the disk is in. I notice that there are 2 .exe files, one entitled CombatMission2.exe (original) and Barbarossa to Berlin.exe (patched version). The game will run if I double click the CombatMission2.exe but it will continue to be version 1.0. Nothing changes after I install the 1.2 patch either. Seems to me this "new" .exe isn't working. Ideas ? Mylo
  5. After I patch the game and click on the shortcut for the patched version, a message tells me that I need to have the CD in to play the game, when in fact, the CD is in. I do not have the option to play the game from this menu. Only "Exit" and "Multiplayer" are there. Yet, if I click on the shortcut for the original version (1.0), the game fires up no problem, but is running version 1.0.
