  1. and this is NOT always a good thing or the best course of action but it would seem thats the way it is! -tom w
  2. I have the same problem does this problem occur in the same way in the full version of the game I only have the demo so far so I don't know for sure. -tom w
  3. Thanks for the update!!! That's GREAT news! anyone else test this new driver yet! -tom w
  4. OK then If you have a Dual Boot TiBook that is mHz 867 or newer then you might be seeing the problem caused by the ATI driver when you play CMx in OS 9. The very last Dual boot mac TiBooks had this problem due to there video cards and the poorly supported ATI video driver..... I regret I don't have a dual boot Mac TiBook at hand to test the new driver but I do have a copy of the beta driver. (just in case one comes my way!) Thanks Matt!!! -tom w
  5. Does this same thing happen in CMAK? IS there any chance there is NOW a new ATI driver released (rumoured to be RELEASED) to fix this problem in the dual boot macs??? anyone have any NEW news on this issue? Matt -tom w
  6. Did anyone else here get the e-mail that notified you of a possible NEW ATI driver for the 9000 card that might solve the CM pyschedelic colours problem in some dual boot machines. I don't have a dual boot computer "handy" to test it on but there is a rumour of a NEW ATI driver that will work in the latest dual boot macs and "fix" the graphics problem the old driver was causing. Any one else heard of this?? I am wondering if MadMatt would like to post any thing further here?? -tom w
  7. ok well that was not the primer I had in mind but it looks helpful -tom w
  8. Some folks here have WAY more fun playing on this forum than they do actuallying the game which is why the peng Newbie Thread is of no use to you. Now where is that CMAK Primer Thread??? Well there isn't one. BUT there was a CMBB Primer that was EXCELLENT!! now I don't know where it is but if you can find a link to the CMBB Primer you should be set. There should be some form of CMAK Primer thread akin to the CMBB Primer thread. Search for the word Primer in the CMBB forum in the title of the thread and that should help. (or, if you can, print out the 200 page PDF at work on the laser copy/photocopy machine ) hope the helps NOW BRING ON THE CMAK PRIMER THREAD! -tom w
  9. is anyone else reporting this kind of experience? is this MORE realistic or less Realistic than CMBB? I think if other folks see this kind of thing as well we could agree it is different than CMBB is it because its earlier in the war and the rounds are smaller? surely the 88mm from the Tiger is NOT penetrating the Grant 3 times with no effect?? That is NOT what you are reporting is it? but if the 37 mm round of the Stuart penetrated the Pz III three times it might not be all that surprising to see no K-Kill and no death to the tank (just a few injuries inside to the crew?) maybe? dunno? any other Grogs with Comments? -tom w
  10. WOW did you pre-order? did the border theives hold you up for GST and PST? has anyone in Canada got stuck with border duties PST and GST yet? thanks for all the updates. -tom w
  11. Here's hopeing your friend becomes another CMAK convert and BFC sells another copy to a new/veteran wargamer.! -tom w
  12. OK Then! Please....... As much as Matt likes Last Defence I am a HUGE fan of Chance Encounter as I consider it "THE" Real original CMBO "classic" battle, as it was FUN and exciting and pretty well balanced and a Blast to play the first time! I would guess I have have played CE in CMBO and in its CMBB variations MORE than any other CM scenario in either game!! So is there a Chance Encounter conversion anywhere for CMAK??? Enquiring minds NEED to know!  Thanks!!! -tom w
  13. Hell YEAH! CMBO had that impact one me too AND for change you did not KNOW exactly where every enemy unit was and its EXACT strength and composition! (EFOW is the ONLY way to fly in CMBB and CMAK!) The lack of Fog of War in Board games was the REAL killer for me, because my friends are all rules lawyers and true professional Min/Max'ers (by calculate EVERY possible odds combination and attack ONLY when an over run or Max attack odds are possible and then pull cheesy moves like retreat forward into my lines because the rule book does not specify that a retreat move as the result of an attack MUST be towards your OWN rear area, turn my successful attack into their "retreat"/advance into my lines to exploit a breakthrough (BECAUSE the rules don't specifically say to CAN'T do it!!) I Don't miss those days! Bring on CMAK! -tom w [ December 06, 2003, 08:21 AM: Message edited by: aka_tom_w ]
  14. wow there is more on it here: http://www.criticalhit.com/Tobruk2.html
  15. Oh YES!! It was my first wargame too. I distinctly remember being on the receiving end of those Damn Pz IIIJ's specifically. They were hard to kill and had a VERY good main weapon in that game. In that Pz IIIJ scenario which ever it was, the Allies really did not have a chance against the power and amour of the dreaded Pz IIIJs!! I don't recall all the details but I will never forget the Pz IIIJ "Uber Tank!". I remember learnig the hard way when I was 15-16 that all the allied tanks sucked compared to some of the better German tanks. I think the Pz IIIJ sported the Long 50mm and it had a devestating effect on the Allied tanks (Crusaders?) that I had to work with at the time. It was a GREAT game one on one like chess but with more rules and millions of dice rolls! All the folks here who have never rolled the dice 3 or 4 times for EVERY SINGLE round every AFV fired in a Tobruk scenario really have no freakin' idea or appreciation of what a monunental break through CMAK represents to old guys that used to play board games like Tobruk! -tom w
  16. It would appear, John was not the only one you pissed off! -Tom W
  17. Yes that works but I still don't like the small font size. oh well -tom w
  18. " I can set it back to what it was before. Doesn't matter much to me." Well if it does not matter all the much to you perhaps you could change it back to the way it was when it was LARGER Thanks and Thanks for the update on the shipping status it was not supposed to ship until Dec 5 correct? so you are early and now filling pre-orders I presume? Thanks!! -tom w
  19. I thought I was a Mac Tech geek and know all the tricks like Command = but I had never heard or seen of that one before! thanks it WORKS!! Command = it is! -tom w It's a bit too small for my taste. I can get it larger by pressing (Command =), but then then it's too heavy as well. The other stuff is cool. Michael </font>
  20. yeah! I like it! nice work the FONT is still to small for some of us senior netizens -tom w
  21. The default font size is TOO Damn SMALL!! Please fix or do somefink! -tom w

  23. Hell Has No Heroes has a similiar account. My copy is not at hand now. (it is GREAT book!) The book was about a DD Sherm TC from Before D-Day right across europe. They landed on the beach and did not sink and did not get blasted out of their tank, They were lucky. They describe the process to level buildings, they describe in detail, it was SOP and they did it EVERY day. For Big buildings with Stone walls they aimed at the corners and loaded one AP first to make a hole then pumped in 3-4-5 HE rounds until it was rubble, if it did not come down a new AP round would blow a hole somwhere else in the wall and 3-4-5 more rounds of HE in quick sucession would finish the job. Sherms in WWII after D-Day knocked down buildings ALL the time as SOP as far as I can tell from my limited reading of that aspect of the war. -tom w
