  3. Well, my experience was primarily air to air, but a 5 minute reaquire with target recognition and permission granted isn't that unusual. In an all out war, the aircraft would NEVER go in for a second attack period. Since total air superiority is assumed in the scenario [i agree with], the aircraft making the run is going to get out of the hot zone, fly to a new approach, and 300 seconds is NOT a long time. Heck, the dust from the bomb wouldn't have cleared, and assessment would be re-done before re-engageing. Here is a typical combat. Notice it took them 20 minutes to drop 4 bombs. When we arrived, Texas 11 had his team in the hills. From his voice, I could tell the situation was tense. He was on a hill with a road through an east-west valley on one side. Texas 11 had holed himself up with his team because he commanded a view of this valley south of Konduz. He could see a lot of Taliban troops moving towards Konduz. Some enemy forces had discovered his location. They set up some mortar positions on a nearby hill. Taliban vehicles were surrounding his position. Some Taliban troops started up the hill towards the group. Texas 11 had an immediate target for us. We spun around. My wingman dropped a WCMD, which hit just at the tail end of the convoy of vehicles and caught them on fire. We spun back around, and it was my turn. Texas 11 wanted me to move the next drop up the hill a bit. The second WCMD hit right where he wanted it. “Awesome. Awesome,” he said. “Direct hit. Standby for another target.” My wingman dropped the next bomb on the vehicles. My final drop was on the mortar positions—another direct hit. We dropped four weapons on the bad guys in about twenty minutes. The sun had set. Our bombs and the cover of darkness gave the GFAC a way out of the area. Texas 11 came back on the radio one last time and said, “Thanks. We’re outta here.” – Capt. Paul, 366th Wing Remember, you have to fly far enough away so the enemy does NOT see where you come from next. A SAM WILL wreck your day. A typical F16 run in begins at the 2 minute mark. Evasive last about 2 minutes, then flight to new ingress takes time. If you REALLY want all the nitty gritty, read this: http://download.high-g.net/files/F-16_Handbooks/11-f-16v5.pdf Rune

  5. I am running a quad core, and no you shouldn't have to do anything with turning a core off. Crimguy, try the 163.75. Rune
  6. So a sniper hits a crew member and another immediately go to the hatch means what? An IED goes off wounding the soldier, and he immediately goes back to the hatch. I think they are worried about being blind-sided more then anything. However, this is in insurgent warfare. Will try to find out more after the holidays, what the procedure is. Rune
  7. Depends on whose smoke it is. US Smoke grenades also are IR blockers. The Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC), Program Manager for Ammunition, desires the acquisition and qualification of non-development improvements to the existing 66mm, M76 Infrared (IR) Smoke Grenade. The improved smoke grenade shall contain energetic components that meet U.S. environmental standards both before and after initiation of the smoke grenade as well as producing visual and IR screening capability. The developed grenade shall have the capability of being loaded, fired and unloaded from the standard U.S. ?M6 Type?66mm smoke grenade launchers. No modification to the grenade launchers is permissible. It is desired that the contractor: (1) Have a non-developmental 66mm IR Smoke Grenade designed to demonstrate and produce a cloud capable of obstructing a host vehicle from threat visual and IR optics; (2) The 66mm IR Smoke Grenade must have the capability to function with no degradation in performance under environmental conditions of hot, cold, and ambient temperatures when fired; (3) Have the capability of firing from the existing M6 ?Type? 66mm vehicle mounted Grenade Dischargers and not alter the transportation and storage requirements of utilizing vehicles; (4) Have the capability to meet all U. S. Government and Military storage requirements / restrictions normally imposed on storage of similar munitions; (5) Have existing production tooling / line capable of producing approximately 16,000 Grenades per month after initial start up; (6) Have the technical expertise and facilities to conduct standard NATO safety, Insensitive Munitions (IM), transportation, hazard classification, environmental and HERO/ESD tests prior to delivery of qualification samples. The Sources Sought Number is M67854-04-R-1051. Interested Parties should reply by submitting a written proposal no later than 30 April 2004 to Commanding General, Marine Corps Systems Command, Attn: Code 2041, 2200 Lester Street, Quantico, VA. 22134. Questions may be submitted in writing to the above address, or email to wrightdm@mcsc.usmc.mil. Interested Parties who are willing to provide test assets of a proposed design, at no cost to the USMC for testing should so indicate in the submitted white paper. No further information is available from the Procuring Office. Rune
  8. I just read 5 separate accounts on the air guard. Stryker hit by IED, explosions wounds and air guard drops wounded into vehicle. His immediate concern? Get back into the hatch to see if another threat is coming. 2nd example, multi-hour battle in mosul, heavy fighting, the stryker's 50 cal firing OVER the open air guard hatch with crew still fighting from that position. Sgt calls gunner a few choice names... 3rd example, convoy duty, sniper hits air guard, replaced immedaitely by another soldier to do spotting. 4th example a lessons learned type article, stressing the NEED to keep air guard out to keep from being fired upon by over-passes. 5th example, talking about ap round and slat cages, and the wounds to commander and air guard positions, and the need to place sandbags near the hatches and the request to put a flat bracket there. What does this all mean? Hard to say, Iraq is NOT conventional fighting. I don't know the answer, but it seems they do try to keep the position filled, Bradley or not. Will see if I can find anything more detailed... Rune
  9. Add in, if you are still completely stuck, email me your phone number and a time to call, give me a few times as it is christmas season and I am not always at home, and I'll call and see if I can help. Rune
  10. It is, it is what Vista is allowing you to see. The games are all in the same place, saved games folder inside the cmsf game folder. I just saved 25 games and deleted them out of the saved games folder. So whatever is happening it is something with your security and Vista. Rune
  11. send an email to support@battlefront.com. Send the information you used to order the game, and they will be able to help you. Rune
  12. Guys, You ask, I answer, now you say i am insulting. Would you prefer to be kept in the dark? The bugs in 1.05 are a battlefront game, made by us. Charles is coding the fix then we test. 1C changes their code. It will be released when we think it is ready not a moment sooner. That is all there is to it. Rune
  13. OK i am running the 163.75 driver. The game I run at desktop, 1280 X 1024, AA off, Vert sync off, model and textures are both at better, high priority is on. I just checked the Allah's Fist scenario, and am running between 40 and 60 fps. Rune
  14. I just tried and deleted the files out of the saved game folder with no issue. You can either right click on the game icon do properties and set run as user, or go into settings, control panel, user accounts, and turn User Account Control to off. Be warned this turns off a lot fo the security features, but also does away with the annoying do you want to allow access pop ups you get. Rune
  15. No. Guys, you cannot compare a game that we code, and Charles can fix immediately, with a game that is designed in Russia. We get the patch, we test it and send the problems to 1C to fix, then they test and we test. We will not discuss the beta process. The patch will be released when it is ready Aries, READ what I said, I said we will NOT release a patch if it has more or different errors. There is no joke there, just common sense. It has to be released when it doesn't cause problems, not when a feature is introduced. Gamer, No. We code CMSF, code is turned around faster. the guys at 1C are good, but changes internal to them have to be tested here. For example, 64 bit operating systems have to be taken into account. So no, it will be released when it is ready. Rune
  16. Try right clicking and running as admin with your current account. I'll give it a try when I get home, an alternate is you CAN turn off UAl if you want. Will let you know. Rune
  17. I'll look when I get home, I have been running Vista 64 and the 8800GTX for some time, and have no issues with hangs/sound. Will let you know drivers and settings. Rune
  18. laribe, All it means is we found things they didn't. Also, if you read what I posted, we don't talk about the beta process publically. The info is we have a newer build of the patch and it is being tested. Rune
  19. Aries, How do you know it has little to do with patch quality? You don't. There is no way for you to know without being in the team, and there is nothing wrong with that. Patches do NOT have to be released asap, but when they are ready. Introducing more or different errors cuts down on the enjoyment for others. We do not talk about the testing process. We just got a new build to test. We will see how testing goes. Rune
  20. I say just cut Seanachai off from alcohol for a period of one week. Let nature do its course. C'mon Aussies, you wouldn't even last 24 hours. Rune
  21. At 10 minutes, it is the amount of running time for the scenario. Rune
  22. The mod tool is for skin and sound only. The scenario format will remain locked, and the ai control is already built into the editor. Hope this helps. rune
  23. Chops is doing that one. Will toss it ti M1 to see if he can open it. Rune
  24. No AAR just your opinions on what I said in the email. Rune
