  1. This conversation seems surreal. War is savagery no matter how it is conducted or by whom. One need only recall Sherman's words: "I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell. "
  2. For me the lack of multiple plans in Baked make it a non-starter
  3. Weekend update: Now Two places to get the Maps: You'll find them at the repository Under CMSF/Base Game/Maps/New and Revised QB maps 01 And CMMODS, too.
  4. I appreciate your kind words and the votes, too!
  5. I'm currently playing a straight up open meet PBEM with My T 90's against Max's same number of M1 Seps. He may be down to just one effective M1 but several that have main gun damage but still mobile. I've got one effective and am on the move! So while I might "lose" the game, Max is gonna have a lot of explaining to do to HQ... The T90 and BMP 3 can do well but have their limitations. Fighting them requires the use of Mass and Surprise...it's always gratifying when it works!
  6. You have a full array of USMC equipment, including the Abrams.
  7. There are at least 3 AI defensive plans in "USMC Streets of Hama". So what worked for you the first time may REALLY work for you the second...or NOT. I'm sure all scen designers can agree: Multiple AI plans is the true gift of CMx2.
  8. These are Both Revised and New maps. You should unzip the file, open the file, select all, cut and paste into your current Quick Battle Maps File folder...select yes/all to overwrite as needed... So That's a NO to the sub directory stuff.
  9. I'm doing brisk business! 200 plus dl's in the 1st 18 hrs. Thank You!
  10. CMSF does not model water. Water won't show up until Normandy. I assume you mean the Marsh-2-Water Mods. That's why I was asking ...a bit tongue-in-cheek, to be sure...
  11. Thank you... I've posted your experience to the beta testers.
  12. Glad you enjoy them. Scen design in CMx2 is just the best fun I've had with an editor!
  13. I don't know about MikeyD but I always look Dis-Honestly at all bug reports.... it's just my way of insuring the game never improves
  14. Yep...One thing's for sure: If the maps sucks you know EXACTLY who to blame. Speaking of which: If anyone finds a map that has the AI Not advancing as Attacker or Meeting Engagement please try to get a screen shot of the map with the Victory objectives showing. If you can give additional info (Attack/Meet..City Open, ect that would be a big help tracking them down and fixing them. here is what I THINK is going on: Occasionally (actually rarely) one of the plans becomes corrupted. It looks right but just doesn't work. I found one such problem and passed on the info to BFC as a bug report. The fix is easy once I can locate which map and which plan (changing it to Do Not Use)...finding it is the real chore.
  15. Error in count...Actual count is 199.....sigh...story of my life!
  16. New AND Revised....revised will overwrite exisiting maps. But I've made an error in the count it's actually 199
  17. You'll find them at the repository Under CMSF/Base Game/Maps/New and Revised QB maps 01 "88 New or Revised QB Maps. The majority of these are Attack style maps and represent a significant improvement in both imagery and play. When added to CMSF current QB files you should have 200 QB maps" These new maps specifically address the facing issues often found in Attack QB games. There are many smaller changes that recent forum feed back helped identify. Thanks!
  18. I seem to recall BFC explaining that CMx1's "under the hood" combat resolutions were good for their time but could never evolve due to the game's engine. That what players see with CMx2 today is a far more accurate combat resolution program. Sort of the difference between listening to a story on the Radio or going to the Movies. Just because I liked one doesn't mean I can't love another.
  19. I like grapes... I like SOME grapes better than others.
  20. Good for Matrix...I'm glad they are moving into the 3D realm. Matrix makes wargames for wargamers. BFC makes Wargames for wargamers. There are a handful of companies that cater to our needs. What I never understand is Why the need to debate...especially an old debate, long since concluded by wargamers who purchased the product and continue to play it or have shelved it. I bought and supported (and worked on)Matrix products. I did that while playing CMx1 products by BFC. I never once had an argument on my hard drive about having to share Gigs. I did notice more than a few "My game's way better then your game" threads on various forums. To my mind an utter waste of time to compare "types" of wargames as the best (or ONLY!) way to play. So Good for Matrix and BFC. And to all who play their games; glad you have found a game you enjoy and hope you'll support the companies that produce them. But if any of us thinks for a minute that we belong to some huge consumer group, targeted by all the gaming companies, and all our needs will be met....well...just writing that is delusional. Relax...enjoy the wargaming ride!
