  1. Hi, I would first like to say what a high standard all the tables of organisation are in CM, just like everything else in the game. However one small thing I noticed was that in the anti-tank platoon in Commonwealth infantry battalions there are only three six pounders. All the sources I have seen over the years state that by 44 there were six guns in the anti-tank platoons of Commonwealth infantry battalions. One such source is George Forty's British Army Handbook 1939-1945. All the best, Kip. PS. There were also 12 Bren Carriers in each anti-tank platoon.
  2. Hi, in my view the best book on armour is Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two by Peter Chamberlain. all the best, Kip. PS. The guys that wrote the book really do know what they are talking about.
  3. Hi, looks great, hope to start using the maps and battles soon. All the best, Kip.
  4. Hi, hugely looking forward to live internet play. I play no other computer games and have never used TCP/IP but given CM's game system sequence it should be great sending friends Panthers up in flames! All the best, Kip.
  5. Hi, thanks for the address. That was a bit thick of me , I should have been able to find that one! All the best, Kip.
  6. Hi, Leland thanks for your help. All the best, Kip.
  7. Hi, this is no doubt a dump question but how do I assign say company A to the red zone during scenario design? Thanks for your help, all the best, Kip.
  8. Hi, I should have said what my system is. It's the same as the other guys, PIII 450 with Voodoo 3000 and 128 ram. It has only happened once. All the best, Kip.
  9. Hi, there was a UK based CM site, ended with .co.uk, does anyone know its address? I had problems with my PC and ended up with my hard disk being wiped so I have losted the address and can not find it again for some reason. Thanks for your help, all the best, Kip.
  10. Hi, thanks for the reply Steve. As you know I am one of your biggest fans so I have been playing a lot and it only happened the one time.I put it down to just being one of those things. All the best, Kip.
  11. Hi, I agree 100% with MikeO, Foyles and Motorbooks are THE military book shops in London, ten minutes from each other. All the best, Kip.
  12. Hi, During the Chambois scenario, the one with the Poles, some where between turns 10-15 in the orders phase there was a crash. A few of the tiles went purle and then all the tiles turned purple and all textures and features went, the screen looked like a purple negative. I then played another scenario without any problems. All the best, Kip.
  13. Hi, Yes, the firefly was equipped with the 17 pounder. It was a 76.2mm gun and about 30% more powerful than the US 76mm gun in terms of armour penetration. The 17 pounder was even more powerful than the US 90mm gun of late 44. All the best, Kip. ------------------
  14. Hi, great news, not long for Surrey, I hope. Kip. ------------------
  15. Juardis, hi, by skirmish I mean fire and movement. Cautiously moving forward a pair at a time , or two pairs at a time while the rest of the squad give covering fire. Individuals are spaced about 6-8 paces apart and are constantly looking to aquire targets and deal with them. Its the style all infantry used, in theory anyway, to advance while in contact with the enemy. Even the Soviets used skirmishing from the second half of 42. The November 1942 Soviet infantry manual is pure skirmishing, contrary to popular belief. All the best, Kip. ------------------
  16. Hi, good news CM has started to land in UK. Here in Surrey hoping for Friday. All the best, Kip. ------------------
  17. Hi, I am so old I am really a SL man but have played ASL. For me CM "hits the same spot" as SL and ASL.With CM Charles and Steve have answered my wildest dreams, I never thought anyhting so good would come along. Things like the armour penetration figures have to be correct or I am not interested in the game, they are correct, too good to be true. All the best, Kip. PS. That does not mean that when I get my copy I will agree with "every" stat in CM, but nerds like me never do, that is part of the fun. ------------------ [This message has been edited by kipanderson (edited 06-28-2000).]
  18. Hi, I do not think "sneak" means sneak. From what I have seen in the demo it really means what I would call "skirmish". I use it almost every time, it does skirmishing just great. all the best, Kip. ------------------
  19. Juju,hi congratulations, great to hear that CM has hit Europe. Here in the UK I am hoping for Friday, maybe sooner. Have fun. Kip. ------------------
  20. Hi, I am suffering down here in Surrey too. Next week we should all get CM and then all will be well with the world! All the best, Kip. ------------------
  21. Hi, I am a huge fan of Steve and Charles. Currently I play no computer games, just not interested, but all this will change when my copy of CM turns up. They have produced the game I always hoped for but thought would never come, not this good anyway. They have done a stunning job. All the best, Kip. ------------------
  22. Hi, I will be playing CM for the "boys own adventure" side of things without any need to kill or be killed. Its the same reason I have been known to backpack for months at a time in the wilds of the Yukon. I carry a gun but have never shot anything. I like the excitement of adventures/war but not the horror that goes with real killing. I read a huge amount of military history and when I do part of the appeal is my admiration for those that took part and "kept the ball in the air". All the best, Kip. ------------------
  23. Hi, here in the UK my guess is that from Friday onwards there is a chance it will turn up. As Manx asked, let us know when the first CM arrives in Europe. All the best, Kip. ------------------
  24. Hi, my view is that it is important that AT guns are easy to spot , once they fire. The film I have seen from WW2 makes it clear AT guns/tank guns produced a huge blast when fired. If someone was observing a general area it would be difficult to miss. All the best, Kip. ------------------
  25. Hi, "calm, cool and collected". Well as another one of the Brits I can only say that I am trying. One of the problems is that everything I hear about the game makes it clear it is going to be even better than I anticipated, and I have known for a long time it was going to be stunning. After playing the demo and reading reviews such as the Games Domain one the wait gets a lot harder. All the best, Kip. ------------------
